Once Is Never Enough!

Let’s start with the room: spacious, comfortable, functional, and equipped with everything you could possibly expect from a good hotel.

Then there’s the wellness area. After a long day of hiking through Black Forest, the sauna, steam room and swimming pool are an absolute blessing. Everything works perfectly, and it’s exactly what your tired muscles need. A real highlight of the hotel!

But the real star of the show? The restaurant.

I ordered something seemingly simple: a sea bass fillet with rice and vegetable ratatouille. Nothing particularly extravagant on paper. But what arrived on my plate was something else entirely! Beautifully presented, perfectly prepared, and bursting with flavour. It was one of those rare occasions when a chef manages to turn a simple dish into something truly extraordinary. They have an absolutely wonderful Riesling that paired beautifully with the fish.

Looking around at the other guests’ plates, everything seemed equally generous and appetising. The menu celebrates local, seasonal ingredients, with venison and other game featuring prominently at this time of year.

For dessert, I chose the white chocolate crème brûlée. What a brilliant idea! Surprisingly delicate and lighter in taste than a traditional crème brûlée, while keeping that irresistible layer of caramelised sugar on top. An absolute must-try.

The service deserves equal praise. Friendly, attentive waitresses dressed in traditional regional outfits add a wonderful touch of local character and charm to the whole experience.

All of this was remarkably reasonably priced. Around €50 for a main course, dessert, two carafes of white wine and a Coca-Cola. Outstanding value for such a memorable evening.

I’ve had the privilege of dining in many restaurants around the world, and I don’t say this lightly: whoever is running this kitchen deserves serious Michelin inspector attention.

Cons:

Just one minor observations: there’s no clock in the wellness area! While losing track of time in the sauna or swimming pool is certainly relaxing, it becomes a little less convenient when you have a dinner reservation to catch. A discreet wall clock would be a welcome addition.

Mehr Schein als Sein???
Pros:

Die liebevolle Zimmereinrichtung, sowie der Gastro- und Eingangsbereich. Kostenlose Parkplätze vor dem Hotel. Die Betten sind top, das Personal ist immer hilfsbereit.

Cons:

Die Sauna ist absolut überholungsbedürftig, nur 1 von 4 Duschen funktionierte. Die Regale und Holzelemente waren kaputt. Das Frühstück war eher Mittelmaß, könnte abwechslungsreicher sein. Das Abendessen war lieblos angerichtet. Die inneren Fensterrahmen waren schmutzig, das Internet schlecht. Ich weiß nicht, ob das zuviel verlangt ist, aber heutzutage erwarte ich einen TV mit wenigstens einer Smart View Funktion, wenn schon nicht Internetfähig.

Pros:

The hotel needs to be upgraded in order to be a 4 star hotel.

Cons:

The security of the garage was defective, the door of the balcony in the room was defective as well. The lamps on the night tables are so disproportionately big taking a lot of space. The door in the bathroom was in bad shape, it needs an upgrade as well

mit Abstand die beste Wahl in Freudenstadt
Pros:

Das Haus ist schön, die Zimmer stilvoll und modern und auch das Bad ist modern! Der Frühstücksraum ist sehr gemütlich eingerichtet und das Buffet mit Liebe zum Detail und vielfältig gestaltet: Highlight sind die frischen Waffeln zum Selbstbacken!
Das Personal ist total freundlich! Uneingeschränkte Empfehlung!

Cons:

Wir hatten wohl Matratzen mit Memory-Schaum - leider nicht so unser Fall - mir wurde aber gesagt, dass man dies bei der Buchung angeben könne, wenn man andere Matratzen bevorzugt.
