Comfortable base with good breakfast and restaurant on site.
Pros:

Good location for a stop off on our return home from Aberdeen. The hotel and room have recently been refurbished and was clean with a comfortable bed and modern shower room. Heavy curtains which blocked out light. Tea, coffee and biscuits were supplied along with nice toiletries. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast and good service. We also enjoyed an evening meal here.

Cons:

Small double bed compared to most hotels these days. We paid around double the normal price because the Royal Highland show was on, although we weren't going to the show. This resulted in me giving a lower rating for value for money.

Absolute gem of a hotel - perfect in every way
Pros:

Absolute gem of a hotel. Beautiful decor, huge comfy bed, lovely walk in shower. Bar area and restaurant were well presented, comfortable and served delicious food and drinks (great to see a cocktail menu!). Breakfast was generous and delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Genuinely perfect stay.

Pros:

Placed for buses into Edinburgh.

Pros:

Our family room was exceptionally clean and comfortable, featuring a beautiful view overlooking the beer garden at the Craigie Hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Furthermore, the onsite restaurant serves fantastic food, and ending the evening with a relaxing drink at the bar or out in the beer garden was the perfect way to finish the day.

Pros:

Really lovely hotel, great decor and a delicious breakfast available with lots of choice. All the staff I met during my stay were really nice and very helpful.

Cons:

There was a function on the night I arrived so it would've been nice to have been told upon arrival that loud music would be playing from 9.30pm until midnight to save me having to call down to reception to ask about it. Apart from that, great stay.

A relaxed visit while attending a family wedding locally and would really like to return.
Pros:

The location of the hotel was great just a short walk into Penicuik for further amenities. The bus service was excellent and frequent for getting into Edinburgh and surrounding areas.The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and spacious with a wonderful history to the hotel from it's beginning.
Evening meals were very tasty along with a good selection for breakfast which you had service for. All the staff were very polite and helpful and happy. Would definitely stay here again when in the area and can recommend.

Excellent Hotel
Pros:

Fantastic rooms which were very well appointed.
Restaurant and bar were very good, as were the menu and serving staff who were very attentive.
Would definitely recommend if in the area.

Great place to stay but food needs work.
Pros:

Staff lovely, comfy bed, good shower and big TV. Lots of parking and convenient for EDI.

Cons:

Food (dinner & breakfast) was disappointing, main course was over cooked and pudding very over-priced. Size and choice of breakfast very good but quality poor.
