The very friendly helpful staff, particularly Mary the proprietor, she ensured we were made to feel at "home" nothing was too much for her to help make our stay enjoyable. We look forward to returning in the future to see the changes planned for the hotel.😃 Great location great staff.
There was nothing I didn't like
Staff very nice, location good although noisy if room faces the front. Good value food.
The price charged for B&B is far too much. The hotel is nice enough but it is looking very tired & the rooms are ok but I wouldn’t say comfortable.9
Location was perfect and car parking ideal
No lift in the hotel. Outdoor beer garden needed attention as paving and steps in poor repair making it hard to access. No fridge in room. Cleanliness of shower basin where it had come away from wall had black mold we had to buy bleach to address this . Shelving and drawers in room very dusty had to clean before use.
Location for what we needed
Fire alarm going off at 05.30 not able to get in touch all wrong phone numbers we had to call fire brigade alarm didn't stop untill manager appeared at 0810.Had a meal there waiter was pleasant but started clearing away before we had finished.i would advise to go somewhere else.3 double rooms 2nights £640 still waiting to see if I get compensation for the fire alarm.
Nothing
Room was uncleared
Dirty unmade bed, wet towels on shower floor, dirty coffee mugs with half drunken coffee.
Disgusting toilet left in a mess.
Hallway and staircase smelled like a fish and chip shop,
No staff on reception
No answer from manager when called .
Avoid this manky place like the plague
The staff in general were very pleasant, and the service good.
Breakfast was well presented and good value.
The location was convenient for all amenities
Car parking easy.
It seems strange that even if you are resident you can't get a drink after 10pm. Perhaps exceptions could be made to let you take a glass of wine to your room while staff are still behind the bar?
The chap behind the bar was quite abrupt about this.
Lovely staff
Sausages weren’t very nice at breakfast
Very central with all the amenities
Bed a bit too small
Breakfast was freshly and nicely cooked. Beds were clean and comfortable. Staff were keen to help.
The nonsense about codes for check-in was not as described by the hotel/Booking.com and also completely irrelevant since the staff were there and the doors open. Secondly, if I am paying all that money, I expect to be checked in by a person not a code. Despite all the chat about PMS, it is simply a way of employing fewer staff.
I would like to say the room was clean and in general it was, but whoever cleaned it had not looked under the beds where there was a milk bottle and a couple of loose pills.
The hotel needs to pay for a skip and clean up the backyard/parking space/alley where there is old junk lying around after a hotel clearout.
The owners of the hotel are not doing Selkirk any favours. It used to be reasonable hotel.
So easy. Just a pleasant place to stay
There was nothing to dislike
FANTASTIC ROOM, MOST PEACEFUL ROOM I HAVE EVER STAYED IN.SOOOOOO QUIET
Lady in bar was nice, downstairs was ok
Room was fillthy, bed was creaky, bathroom door was creaky, hadnt been polished, dust everywhere,it was like a room that had been put together just fir the sake of it,bathroom was nice, shower not great, floor could do with a good scrub, needs a good clean and paint
