Location was good
Not very receptive at reception staff seemed busy and rushed no time to do their jobs properly in any area just performed everything badly , clearly they need more staff! Fan in the room was so bad you had to be right next to it to feel the breeze . Luckily it wasn’t too hot we opened the window and dealt with the flies instead . A net curtain would be a good idea to obscure view and also stop flies. Dinner was bad , and took ages to come . Not worth the wait , breakfast was terrible, even the beans were burnt . Not joking this place only needs a qualified front of house manager and a good chef and it would run perfectly, I’ll give six months before they have to close as they won’t have repeat customers at this rate . All the hotels in town were full but this only had like 20 people and it was still badly run, I would say I did think it was clean !
We recently stayed at this hotel and unfortunately found that it fell well short of the impression given online.
The most noticeable issue was how dated and tired the hotel felt throughout. The décor is very old, the carpets were heavily marked, and the overall aesthetic looked worn and neglected compared to the photographs advertised. While the hotel was very quiet, and it was nice to see familiar staff members throughout our stay, the atmosphere often felt lacking. There was no background music in the communal areas for most of our visit, and when music was finally played on our last day, it was a Spotify playlist interrupted by adverts, which felt unprofessional.
Our bedroom was particularly disappointing. The room felt unloved, with a dirty carpet, visible dust, and very small, thin pillows that looked almost comical on such a large bed. The bathroom soaps did not work, and when we removed one from its holder, a dead fly fell out. The fly then remained on the bathroom surface for the rest of our stay despite the room supposedly being cleaned each day, which raised concerns about the standard of housekeeping.
On arrival, the bedroom window had been left open, which was appreciated on a warm day. However, after our first day, a ladder was left positioned directly beneath our window in a rear yard accessible from a main road. This made us feel uncomfortable about security and meant we felt the need to keep everything locked and remain conscious of the possibility of someone gaining access.
The guest information book was unnecessarily complicated. It contained pages of information about services such as babysitting, fresh flowers, and trips around Birmingham, yet we struggled to find basic information such as the Wi-Fi details.
During our stay, there were also three power cuts, none of which were explained to guests, leaving us unsure what was happening each time.
Breakfast was acceptable but not particularly memorable.

Building and location
Rude staff, room not clean, no coffee maker as advertised, breakfast was cold when brought to room and hollandaise sauce was out of a jar. Mini bar not stocked and staff seemed clueless as to what to do about anything. They said was under new ownership but nothing has been updated to say this online.
Location
The food was not as good as was expected. Dining on a sign raises expectations which were not met
Quiet surroundings, views of hills. Easy parking. Nice vegetarian breakfast in a sunny conservatory with views of the garden. Good Waitress service.
A comfy bed with plenty of space in the room, private side entrance (room 1) , would be great if you require disabled access.
Black out curtains keep the room dark.
Staff were helpful when you could find them, it was a Monday night so the place was very empty.
The wet room floor , particularly the shower was really dirty and could do with a steam clean or refurb. I expected a better standard for the price of this room. There was definitely not a Spa hotel feel to this room! Towels, robes and sheets were all spotless so this really let it down.
Room 1 is ground floor and the bedroom window opens right onto the road, we even had a delivery lorry parked right outside which was not welcome. If you're a light sleeper, take ear plugs! It's not a very busy road but you would not want the window open at night.
The breakfast was very nice, the waitress made a good cappuccino.
Stains on the carpet. Wall next to window could do with a touch of paint, marks and stains
Staff were great as were the rooms
The settings and availability of the spa (additional cost).
Our room was comfy and clean.
Nothing
On first appearance I was impressed, lovely building, lovely outdoor space , free parking, friendly reception lady. Nice dressing gowns, complimentary water.
Firstly one of plug socket next to the bed was cracked and unusable which I was not aware of until after trying to plug my charger in realised it had a crack across the socket.
I tried to contact reception for an iron using the internal phone and my own mobile phone approximately 8 calls but no answer , I had to come down to reception in the dressing gown and was told there was only 1 iron for the whole hotel which is very poor, luckily my friends had the iron so I could use it but otherwise if someone else had it who knows how long I would have waited. I would expect more than 1 iron for guests.
The fridge didn't work as the water was not cold at all.
Most importantly I hardly slept, totally out of the hotels control was the weather , and although a fan was provided it was so loud I couldn't sleep, furthermore the bed was hard, the pillows lumpy and as the 2 single beds are joined together there was no bed protector so I could feel the join when I turned, extremely uncomfortable. There was no black out curtains so at dawn light flooded the room .
The description of the hotel and facilities is very misleading because it did not include what it states on the website with a fully stocked minibar, nespresso coffee machine , biscuits and a choice of toiletries , choice of pillows .
I understand the hotel has had new management so aware that they are trying to turn things around and was mindful of some of the negative reviews.
It's a shame as I was so hopeful for a lovely stay and at a cost of £105 as a single occupant the price was too high for what was described to what I actually received.
Repeat visit, one of our favourite hotels to visit, usually.
Room was not ready upon arrival (9PM) and once we were able to check in we discovered that it wasn’t the room we’d booked/expected. The room we were given instead was not up to standard or fit for purpose either.
Set on a quiet country road, so very peaceful. You could hear cows and sheep in the distance. Beautiful scenery, rolling hills etc. There was a spa, but I had broken my ankle recently, so I couldn't use the facilities. It was a short drive into the centre of Ludlow. We easily found found a car park which was reasonably priced. A short walk into the quaint town. Lovely Tudor buildings and a castle. There was a market in the square. Plenty of different shops to the normal high streets. Quaint streets to explore as well, all had surprises in them.
The staff were nice and helpful. However, dinner in the evening was very slow. The waitress was inexperienced and her service was a little haphazard. However, the food was nice.
Breakfast, continental and/or cooked was excellent. Plenty of choice and cooked to order, no hot plates (which I detest).
Comfortable room with plenty of space
Very run down and in need of considerable refurbishment
The staff were friendly and very accommodating. The location was perfect.
There was a lot of bird poo on the garden furniture. The pillows were a little hard.
A nice boutique hotel
Could do with a lick of paint
