More attention to hospitality detail needed to match the splendour of the building
Pros:

The most incredible historic building. Absolutely beautiful.

Cons:

The extremely grubby carpet that wasn’t cleaned to get into our room. The unimaginative (and often left in a mess) cold breakfast buffet.

Comfortable stay for a city trip
Pros:

The best hotel shower ever! Very comfortable room for a few days city trip. We enjoyed cocktails in the bar, next time we'll try the restaurant.

Cons:

The food in the Neighbourhood Coffee House was a little underwhelming. The avocado on toast seemed more like a shop bought spread than fresh avocado. All sandwiches lacked creativity.

Location and room ideal for for us visiting Durham. Staff so friendly and helpful
Pros:

Staff were very friendly and helpful, room was a good size. Location idea to walk to the castle and cathedral

Cons:

A bit hard to find reception. We parked on the street and walked in an entrance but had to ask directions to reception

A very pelasant stay (and a good quality breakfast)
Pros:

I was very satisfied with all services offered by the hotel: my room, in particular, was very clean, spacious and quiet.

I also have to mention breakfast: you have to pay an extra, if you want to have it, but it's really worth it

Excellent. Recommended!
Pros:

Beautiful and unique building. Bit of a maze to navigate at first but that is part of the charm. Great room, felt very private. Location is prime with views of the cathedral and right in the city centre.

Cons:

Only tiny complaint is curtains wouldn’t close fully which let in light earlier than we’d have liked.
