Love the location
Always love it but bathroom could have been cleaner
We went as a group of 11 for an afternoon tea. Hey were able to accommodate all of our dietary requirements which included, vegan, gluten free, lactose free and a couple of just plain picky eaters. A selection of sandwiches, scone with jam and clotted cream and cakes arrived on a tiered plate. Tea and coffee with endless refills also came as part of the deal. Surroundings are spectacular, it’s the old council chambers in what was the shire hall. It was quiet when we first arrived but did fill up as the afternoon progressed. At £19.95 per person this is amazingly priced, you get a lot for your money, this is one of the least expensive afternoon teas I have had but is most certainly one of the best. The staff were first rate and very attentive even when it started to fill up. I will definitely return. When we left we set up camp in the bar and it the cocktail menu. Hanks to all who contributed to a great afternoon/evening.
The Hotel Indigo in Durham is set in a beautiful building with a fantastic location. The interior of the hotel is really lovely and full of interesting character.
We booked a premier room with a bath. The room itself was spotlessly clean, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the air conditioning worked really well. It was also great to see plenty of tea and coffee provided in the room.
There were just a couple of minor downsides. First, while the shower was great, they only provided one hand towel and two bath towels. Normally this is fine, but for a premier room at £350 a night, it felt a little stingy. Second, parking is quite expensive, whether you park on the street or use the hotel's parking.
Overall, we had a great stay and I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Durham!
Everyone was so friendly
Nothing
Lovely room which had all the bells and whistles - fridge, coffee maker, air con etc.
The building is amazing and worth going to for a look around!
Evening meal in Marco Pierre White restaurant was really good and not extortionate.
Breakfast in the same restaurant was good but not to the same standard as the evening meal.
Not much - but £20 to park the car in a hotel car park would be expensive for a major tourist city and too expensive for Durham.
We were a bit miffed that although we arrived a couple of hours after check in time, our room was not ready for us.
Location and the beautiful building.
I left clothes in the wardrobe they posted back to me within a day.
Ideal location for us, staff very friendly and helpful

We really enjoyed our 2 night stay. Location is perfect to visit the city centre.
The hotel is beautiful! The historical communal areas are stunning.
I beg to differ with the previous reviewer. Our standard room was very, very comfortable. The bed was excellent and we slept like logs! The room decor is quirky whilst still being modern. In the scorching weather the air con was very efficient as was the shower.
Breakfasts were superb. I had two different drlicious gluten free breakfasts see my photos.
I can't praise this hotel highly enough!
My go to hotel while my daughter was studying in Durham, easy parking, great location, wonderful building, welcoming staff and very comfortable, plus excellent air conditioning
Beautiful space in a good location
Booked half board but had to pay much more as only à la carte offered
A great hotel in a great location. Lovely staff looked after us so well. The room was modern and so comfortable. A great stay!
One minor gripe - the eggs in my Eggs Benedict weren't runny. Not the end of the world! 🤣
