Great location, Functional Room, Would Stay Again
Pros:

The location is great - close to Demachiyanagi Station, which gives you easy access to most of East Kyoto. The room was totally fine, and had a small terrace for outdoor dining. The Wifi worked great, which mattered to me.

Cons:

The staff was mostly helpful, although they did insist on changing towels and cleaning garbage even though I had a DND sign on the door. The bathroom was quite small, but servicable. It's really just a basic room, but it's what I needed.

Pros:

Rustige plek, op de pm loopafstand van het station en diverse bushaltes. Buiten de drukte van het centrum, dichtbij de universiteit. Vriendelijk personeel. We konden onze huurfietsen stallen bij het hotel.
Kamer met waterkoker, koelkast met diepvriesvak en magnetron.
Een binnenplaatsje met zitplek.
Goede mogelijkheden voor airco. Was wel nodig omdat het erg warm was.

Cons:

Bedden zijn hard, maar wel comfortabel.
Koelkast maakte wat veel geluid, gordijnen niet geheel verduisterend

Pros:

The Marikoji Inn is absolutely delightful. It is situated in a quiet neighborhood just a few blocks from anything you might want including dining, combini, temples, and the absolutely charming Demichiyanagi station for visits further away than this area of Kyoto.

The Inn blends ryokan and western seamlessly. Upon entering the front door your shoes go into a cupboard and comfortable slippers are provided to wear when inside. Our room was upstairs, but they have several first floor rooms including one traditional Japanese room that features a private garden outside. The rooms are generously sized and have private bathrooms with lovely bidet and deep deep tubs for soaking after all the walking you do in Japan. They don't provide meals like a ryokan however there is a refrigerator in the room for food you have brought back.

All of the staff were delightful and we communicated in a mix of English and Google translate Japanese. The hospitality is top notch. They also offer Kyoto tours which we will be booking on our next stay because there WILL be a next stay. We both adore the Marikoji Inn!

Cons:

That I had to travel to my next itinerary stop! We wished we could stay longer.

Love it, will come back again!
Pros:

Being a female solo travler it feel secure, I have stay at the ground floor and although there are many windows, there is a lock mechanism that prevent outside from opening/unlocking the windows.

Cons:

Some people might feel annoyed as the staircase is beside your room, if you don't mind some noise, then its perfectly fine.
Do note that they do daily cleaning.
There is a door gap in the bathroom so your feet will get cold easily as there is cold wind blowing at your feet while doing my business. Especially in the winter
