Marikoji Inn Kyoto

The Marikoji Inn is absolutely delightful. It is situated in a quiet neighborhood just a few blocks from anything you might want including dining, combini, temples, and the absolutely charming Demichiyanagi station for visits further away than this area of Kyoto.

The Inn blends ryokan and western seamlessly. Upon entering the front door your shoes go into a cupboard and comfortable slippers are provided to wear when inside. Our room was upstairs, but they have several first floor rooms including one traditional Japanese room that features a private garden outside. The rooms are generously sized and have private bathrooms with lovely bidet and deep deep tubs for soaking after all the walking you do in Japan. They don't provide meals like a ryokan however there is a refrigerator in the room for food you have brought back.

All of the staff were delightful and we communicated in a mix of English and Google translate Japanese. The hospitality is top notch. They also offer Kyoto tours which we will be booking on our next stay because there WILL be a next stay. We both adore the Marikoji Inn!

Being a female solo travler it feel secure, I have stay at the ground floor and although there are many windows, there is a lock mechanism that prevent outside from opening/unlocking the windows.

Fabulous stay , we loved our traditional room , it exceeded our expectations. Great staff, and good location for the attentions we wanted to see. Lots of local restaurants and shops .

Die Unterkunft war sehr persönlich und in einem typisch japanischen Haus in einer tollen Gegend mit netten Restaurants in der Nähe.Es war nicht so touristisch,was total angenehm war.Und trotzdem war alles sehr gut zu erreichen und angebunden mit Bus und Bahn. Wir haben es sehr genossen.Das Personal war besonders hilfsbereit und freundlich.Die japanischen Zimmer waren sehr schön. Wir hatten ein normales Zimmer,was wir das nächste Mal gegen ein typisch japanisches tauschen würden.Wir würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen!

Very cozy traditional japanese building. We hade the 4 bed room with beating area, bathroom and shower which also hade a small zen garden. It was very beautiful and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

I highly recommend Marikoji Inn Kyoto, the room was excellent, always exceptionally clean, with very comfortable bed and an excellent shower. The room facilities were also fantastic. Really friendly staff. Felt very safe as a solo woman traveller. Great location near amenities and close to bus stops and subway.

Ubytování předčilo všechna očekávání, co se poměru cena - výkon týče. Pokoj je příjemný a čistý. Lokalita klidná, ale zároveň je to do centra to vlakem za chvíli. Majitelé mluví anglicky, bezproblémová komunikace, sami nabídli brzký check-in.
