Great view of medieval city. Our door to the patio would not close and lock unless you slammed it really really hard, and the safe battery was too low for the safe to work so we couldn’t open the safe after we locked it. The reception guy offered us his master key. We only stayed one night so we said it was fine the safe didn’t work. Weird thing was there was no room phone so we had to go down to reception to report the problem.
This hotel exceeded our expectations. The bathroom came with a tub. Bathroom was spacious. The water pressure was amazing. The breakfast was excellent.
The hotel has an amazing view of the citadel. We did not have a room with a view but many rooms have full view of the citadel.
The only minor issue was the room was a little too tight with not much room for our luggage.
We recommend this hotel.
Lovely hotel in a great location close to the Citie and the new town. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Our room had a great view of the Citie.
My husband and I visited Carcassonne for a couple of days and we chose this hotel with half board. The location is excellent, very clean and convenient. The half board consisted of a decent breakfast and buffet dinner. The room was a bit small but otherwise this was an excellent deal. I highly recommend it to those who don’t want to spend to much while maintaining decent standards.
Spent one night at the hotel to meet up with friends. The hotel is easy to find and we were warmly welcomed. Arrived early so left our luggage in a secure room before going out to explore. Parking is an easy 5 minute walk away The room was very clean and well stocked with shower gel, soap, coffee and tea (no milk) etc. Amazing view of the castle from our balcony.
Breakfast was plentiful and filling.
The good:The hotel is in a central location near to the chateaux, within walking distance of restaurants and most of the sites in Carcassonne. It was clean and modern with a nice looking, but pricey restaurant on site.
The bad: The big negative for me was the shower/tub combination. The tub which is about 18 - 24 inches high is downright dangerous when you combine that with the slippery tile on the tub floor. This is a no/no for seniors and people with mobility issues. In addition, the narrow tub has a glass enclosure on one side which allows water to leak onto the bathroom floor. Lastly, in our room there was one facial tissue in box of tissues in a room that we had just gotten the keys to.
Great place to stay, the views for the rooms with low numbers (we were in 203) have stunning view of the castle
my favorite hotel in Carcassonne , location is superb, no view of La Cite was a wee bit disappointing as it was my birthday 😅…maybe next time 😊
Location is excellent.
I liked:
The location, just before the bridge to the Forteresse, and with a nice overall view of the Forteresse from my balcony.
A large very nice room. The balcony with nice vegetation.
A really full buffet breakfast (North American style but with great croissants, etc)
Staff that were nice and helpfull.
I walked everywhere, from and to train station, to restaurants, to the Forteresse.
The room was poor it was not as advertised no bedside table as there wasn’t enough room, no table, we obviously paid for a room which was larger but were given something not much more than a cupboard.
Also upon returning to the courtyard to enjoy an evening drink we were ignored by the staff for over 40 minutes, and I had to go to reception to ask where I obtain drinks.
We eventually received two drinks although not what we wanted ( no cognac available) the young man who served us was quite hostile in attitude, having finished our drinks, we waited a further 45 minutes, waiting to be served a further drink only to give up in the end when we were obviously not going to be served. In fairness to the evening supervisor when I complained she did offer a complimentary drink but as I said it was to late then.
Half of mile from the train station. Not many dining options.
The location of this property was perfect for our short stay to explore La Cite. Outstanding view from our balcony up toward the medieval city. We arrived in Carcassonne by train and it was only a short 15 minute walk away to the hotel.
The staff were friendly and efficient.
Whilst the breakfast options were good I did find on all 3 mornings that the mushrooms and scrambled eggs were cold. But that is my only gripe. Would recommend.
Property was in a great location, easy walk to Cite, easy walk to restaurants ,& shops.
I thought the reception area was understaffed, especially as there is a bar area beside it , & only I staff member doing both jobs.
Johan did a great job under pressure.
Beautiful view of the city from our room. Easy walking distance to the city
Modern hotel with incredible views of the citadel. Great breakfast and short walk to the old city. Parking offsite closeby and reasonable.
Hotel was recommended to us by a wine merchant in Saint Emilion. She raved about the views and it did not disappoint!! Rooms were beautiful and the terrace rooms are worth the money!
Great location, friendly staff, nice room.
Definitely stay there again.
We had an excellent 1 night stay at Sowell Le Chevaliers. The staff was very patient during our check in. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Carcassonne. The room was clean and nicely appointed with a walkout spacious terrace. We wish we could have stayed another night. The view we had of the walled city and overlooking the river (with bird activity) was a treat.
