Hotel Review: Uma Dawa Resort, Ubud

My stay at Uma Dawa Resort in Ubud was below expectations. While the resort has potential, several issues seriously affected my experience:

1. Room Cleaning:
Rooms are not cleaned thoroughly. Towels were rarely replaced, and general cleanliness could be much better. It didn’t feel like the room was properly refreshed each day.

2. Bathroom:
The shower only worked on 2 out of the 4 days — the other days, there was no water at all. Hot water availability was also inconsistent, which made basic hygiene frustrating at times.

3. Kitchen:
The kitchen is advertised as being open until 10:00 PM, but when I tried to order food at 9:00 PM, I was told it was no longer possible. This felt misleading and unprofessional.

4. Wifi:
Wifi quality was poor and unreliable. In today’s world, especially at a resort, that’s a serious downside.

5. Room Condition:
The rooms aren’t filthy, but they are not well-maintained. There was visible mold in some areas, and paint or plaster was peeling from the walls — sometimes even falling onto clothes or personal belongings.

6. Staff:
Staff were friendly but struggled with English, which made communication difficult. This can be challenging for international guests.

Conclusion:
Uma Dawa Resort could be a nice place if these basic issues were addressed. For now, it’s not somewhere I would return to or recommend — unless improvements are made in cleanliness, maintenance, and service consistency.

The advertisement on their web site is false advertising the bathroom was disgusting and nothing like advertised. The gardens are beautiful but all else is very dilapidated. The worst bed I have ever slept in and now need meds for a very sore back. Will definitely NOT recommend this establishment

Pros:

The complex is very nice, clean and well maintained, the staff friendly and helpful.
With regard to our "deluxe room", these are very large, stylish and modern. But unfortunately they are also very, very noisy.
You can hear/understand every word the neighbors say, even when they are talking at room volume. You can even hear the click of the light switches, and there are quite a few of them. Furthermore, the pool of the neighboring property is directly adjacent to the back of the room/bathroom, from where any fun is passed on to the room.
Quiet and restful nights were unfortunately not possible here, at least for us.
And in the restaurant, unfortunately, something is not available every day, which is a bit annoying in the long run.

Good spacious rooms, very good ambience lush green, village feel. Breakfast was very good. The paasage from reception to room was bot badly lit so difficult to walk at night for my aged parents.

Majoituin deluxe huoneessa. Huone oli erittäin siisti, ja koko hotelli allas-alueineen aivan mielettömän upeaa! Iso suositus, todella hyvä hinta-laatusuhde. Aamiainen oli myös hyvä, se kuului deluxe huoneen hintaan. Varasin hotellin kautta myös retken Mount Baturille, kaikki toimi moitteetta!

Quiet and Calm
Pros:

We had a lovely stay here! Quiet, unassuming, friendly. Not too far from bustling Ubud centre, but far enough for relaxation. Comfortable beds, nourishing breakfast and chilled guests made this spot perfect for us. Day spa was wonderful! Thank you to Princess and Aldi who took excellent care of us. This place is a hidden gem for sure!

Stunning hotel
Pros:

The hotel is simply stunning. The rooms and surroundings are designed with lots of greenery and ponds full of fish. The outdoor bathroom is great with a lovely shower. The bed us cery comfortable and lots of charging facilities.
Restaurant is a little more expensive than others but is very good quality and the people are lovely. The views are quite stunning to Lombok.

We booked a couples massage, as well as manicure & pedicure last minute and they were able to accommodate us quickly.
The facility is beautiful & we were lucky enough to have it rain while getting our services... it was amazing! The techs were professional and amazing. I highly recommend the facility if you are in Ubod Indonesia.

Fantastisk have bag slidt indgang.
Pros:

Bag en trist og slidt indgang, gemte der sig en smuk og frodig have med spændende gamle bygninger. Værelset var stort og havde skøn patio, hvor man kunne sidde og nyde haven. Sengen var noget hård og larmende.
Smukke pavilloner i haven, hvor man kunne nyde mad og drikke. Stor pool.

Lovely hotel in Ubud
Pros:

Hotel is situated on a busy road easy to access, however the hotel is more to the inside so you don't hear no noise of the cars passing bye. The pool was lovely and clean. The courtyard very green and luscious. The staff was so sweet and friendly typical Balinese culture. I enjoyed my stay here. Warm greetings to the reception staff Pande, Princess and Agun. Thank you so much for this wonderful stay.

Holiday in Paradise
Pros:

I stayed for three nights with two of my friends. The resort is very clean, situated next to the temple area (I found these temples so informative about Balinese culture, probably more than visiting a art/history museum - culture in action).

We were welcomed by Audy, Agung and Pande, staff at the resort. They are so friendly and welcomed us like family and made sure that our stay was super relaxing and all our needs were met. Ask them for day trips and activities around the area too!

The pool was mostly empty and the surrounding nature blended beautifully with the resort. Yoga and massage are available during the day, too, and the premises are great. I also recommend the yoga teacher, who introduced us to Hatha yoga and some fun breath work and beginner yoga poses. She was experienced at tailoring the position as she was able to spot when the pose had to be made easier, or whether she could advance the technique for you.

The place to stay in Ubud !
Pros:

Excellent stay ! Beautiful, well kept and spacious outside areas including gardens, pool, spa and meditation gazebos.

The room is also very comfortable, with pristine linen and powerful AC. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, with Princess, Pande and Audy leading.

Strongly recommend if you have plans to Ubud !!!

Best resort to explore Ubud
Pros:

We had an amazing stay! The staff was extremely attentive and always ready to assist us. Our family room was very spacious, and the bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the smoothie bowl and the fried rice. The swimming pool is stunning and just a few steps away from the main street, full of shops and cafes. It's the perfect location if you want to explore Ubud.

What a scam!
Pros:

We had booked 5 nights through Booking.com. Upon arrival we were disappointed. The hotel is severely outdated.
The hotel room was totally not up to expectations. There are holes over the windows, wasps and mosquitoes fly in. The walls are full of mold in the hotel room, and the bathroom is full of mold and is really outdated! My partner with asthma could not sleep here! There were blood stains on the bed and the windows could not even close. Really not a nice stay at all!
With this story we went to the reception and we decided to leave after 1 night, we really did not want to stay here!!! The reception responded understandingly, and they would refund us 50% of the amount paid. After months of emailing back and forth, we received nothing. Now, 2 months later, it appears that they are not going to refund us anything. What a scam!!!
