Excellent food and staff
The breakfast was lovely and catered for Gluten free. Staff were polite, knowledgeable and available
The rooms were okay for a one night stay, however they need refurbishment, as they are dated and some things no longer work.
The staff were friendly and served the purpose for us, as it was a last minute booking.
Beautiful location, fast and easy check in and the food was nice. The staff were pleasant and provided a speedy and efficient service.
However it was let down by the rooms which were filthy and covered in cobwebs. Dirty toilet brushes adorned the bathroom, the shower was covered in soap scum and moldy silcone with filthy tiles. The sea view in the room was totally obscured by a large TV sat righ in front of the window. The room was so small you almost hit the bed with the door as you opened it and the bathroom no bigger than a coat cupboard. The matress on the bed was well worn and the pillow cases torn. The towel in the bathroom was threadbare and the curtains were not big enough to cover the window and half hanging from the rail. The windows were filthy which obsecured the beautiful views outside. The door to the bathroom didnt have a lock and was peeling. In the stairwell there were lose cables, torn and dirty caprets and water damage that had grown mushrooms. Not sure there was appropriate fire safety equipment and the wiring looked in need of updating. The wifi was poor and there was a very limited range of TV chanels. The entrance way is covered in weeds and unkempt. The hot tub is located in what can only be described as a bin store, next to the large bin and empty beer barrels, entirely unappealing.
We were desperate for a place to stay for the night , otherwise we would have left after visiting the room
The Inn had seen better days
The carpet was dirty , the room felt greasy
A very large tub sat in the bedroom , with 2 large ice buckets - maybe it was once a honeymoon suite ?
The room was advertised for 4 sleepers - it was not. They placed a cot on the floor for our teen son.
The best part of the experience was the morning breakfast , nicely serviced by friendly staff and a hearty breakfast
Excellent hotel to stay in Lochgilphead.. a touch expensive but better compared to other hotels in the area. We had a good stay
Enjoyed our one night at this hotel . Staff were fantastic . Very pleasant and we felt comfortable to ask if we needed anything . Room was a little cool but had a heater which could be used if needed . Bed was comfortable . Food was lovely .
Its ok
The hotel is old but could do with a little maintenance i.e. towel radiator in bathroom not working, lightbulbs missing and could really do with a clean up around skirtings and around the entrance to the hotel.
Sadly booked rooms for a couple of nights in February. Rooms were freezing, reported and nothing changed for 2nd night. Shower in room 1 also ran cold water only. Shower in room 2, was not a shower! Only a trickle of water came out. We will not book again.
This is a tired hotel that is trying to do its best. Lovely location on the loch and gives easy access to places of interest. Reception is not covered from late afternoon and in the morning, there is a phone number to use in case of emergency. Food ok. If you have pets with you be prepared to be a 3rd rate guest. Table not laid out for you, the only tables to use are at the entrance to the guest lounge or next to the swing doors to the kitchen. So not a relaxing time. We were there for 2 nights, and our room was not serviced after our first night. Not what i would expect for a three star hotel. I would suggest you check out other hotels in the area, for a few £s more we could have stayed at Stonefield castle, a few miles down the road set in its own grounds!!! We live and learn!@@
Had an overall great stay! Very clean and nice staff. The only thing that’s negative worth mentioning was that it took a very long time to get hot water in the shower and the tub. And after the hot water was running in the tub there was no way to get the cold water running. Except for this, a comfy bed and nice breakfast made this a nice stop along the way.
Building is run down. Service was poor.
We were there for 3 nights. Room was clean but way going to restaurant was disgusting, carpet is muddy. There was no hot water in the bathroom/toilet, had to use tap ice cold water for freshen up in the morning, informed to staff said they can't do anything the engineers will come after 12 noon. Rooms are very noisy can hear even toilet flush and jumping and all from other rooms
very bad experience and horrible rooms, i had to leave the next day and drive back home, my holiday was ruined and i dont wish anyone should visit this hotel
The Grey Gull Hotel is an old building and requires much renovation. However our bedroom was large, clean and we enjoyed our one night stay. The staff are all very pleasant and helpful. Would certainly return especially at the price it is at present.
The bed was uncomfortable: springs could be felt, with slanted (unleveled) to one side, hot water took 16 min. to warm up- never hot, weird whole in ceiling in bathroom. Staff super nice and safe location.
A comfortable friendly hotel in a super setting
Kind helpful young staff
I hope to stay there again
It is an old hotel which needs a lot of work doing to it. However our bedroom was spacious, had been updated, had everything we needed and was very clean and the B&B price per room was mist reasonable. The breakfasts were very good, and a lovely view of Loch Fyne from the dining room. All the staff we spoke to were very welcoming. Would certainly come back again if looking for accommodation in Ardrishaig.
Room was clean. Restaurant staff was kind and courteous. However, there was no hot water in the room, and the front desk was unattended. After a long travel day, the expected hot shower was not realized.
