Hotel nice, Personnel incompetent
Pros:

The hotel itself is nice.

Cons:

The personnel there is a nightmare. I have stayed there for 8 days over the course of 3 bookings. There were dozens of mistakes ranging from them asking me to pay breakfast everyday, even though it was prepaid for the last 5 days, asking me to give them a physical card (and therefore go down to the lobby everytime) to „preauthorize“ payments, which are for the bar and breakfast (bar I didn’t use and the breakfast as mentioned being prepaid) as well as them first not being able to amend a booking date without me messaging booking.com, to them promising a refund for a night, and then instead charging me for an extra night. Very dissatisfied. It seems they have multiple departments that all don’t speak with each other, everyone is pretending they don’t have the authority to resolve simple issue, stupid rules that are unnecessary and make the stay annoying.

I would not recommend staying here. The headache it has caused me so far is not worth it at all. The hotel itself is nice, although for the price nothing special.

Suite Stay
Pros:

Room was amazing. Everything was really clean and nice.

Massage in the day spa was also amazing.
We had dinner at the restaurant on site which was really good. Big meal sizes and lots to choose from.
I wouldn’t get room service again as it was cold when it arrived.

We stopped at the pool area for a cocktail and enjoyed the pool beds. It is a little small.

The Valet parking is great.

2 years in a row : what an improvement !
Pros:

We stayed at W Brisbane two years running, and the difference between the two visits is striking — in a very good way. Last year we had a number of frustrations: service felt under-trained, check-in and check-out were slow, the breakfast operation was visibly disorganised, and a few details around room service and valet did not match what one expects from a hotel of this calibre. We left detailed feedback on departure and were not entirely sure it would land. It clearly did.
The renovated suite is genuinely lovely. The upgraded interiors are vivid, well-considered and beautifully finished, the bed and bathroom are excellent, and the river view from the room is one of the best in central Brisbane. The new design language ("A River Dreaming") works particularly well in the larger suites, with custom furnishings and a real sense of place rather than generic luxury.
What made the bigger impression, however, was the operational improvement across the board. Check-in and check-out were noticeably faster and handled with real warmth. The breakfast service — which was a genuine weak point last year — has been reorganised intelligently and now flows beautifully: well-paced seating, attentive staff, and a buffet operation that no longer feels like guests and team are working against each other. Room service was quicker and better presented, and the valet/car service was sharper and more professional from arrival to departure. Across the team, we noticed a clear shift toward kindness and efficiency working together — exactly what was missing on our previous visit.
A particular mention for the post-stay assistance, which was outstanding: a few small follow-ups after we left were handled with a level of care that genuinely surprised us. It is the kind of detail that turns a good hotel into a hotel one returns to.
It is always a real pleasure, as a guest, to see that thoughtful feedback was actually taken on board between two visits — not just acknowledged with a polite reply, but acted upon at every operational touchpoint. The W Brisbane team clearly cares about getting better, and on this stay it showed everywhere. Excellent location on the river, vibrant design, comfortable rooms, and now the service to match. We will absolutely be back.
