We stayed 3 nights at Opus XVI through new Year 2026 and had a great experience. Location is fantastic, beautiful hotel, excellent breakfast and amazing staff at reception and in the restaurant. Special distinction for Johannes for his warm welcome, professionalism and recommandation for a rare Jura Poulsard wine.
Dining was excellent.

To start this hotel looks lovely and i wish we had stayed there. The bar and restaurant are very pretty visually. Our understanding is some places are having trouble getting help so that could be the issue but our server was very young, did not know the menu, seemed flummoxed by us asking for ingredients we were allergic to so the kitchen could advise on what we should order... I think it may be a hiring shortage but it was not what we expected for fine dining. The bartender eventually took over and got our drinks in and answered questions on the meal. That put a bit of a pall on our over experience. I had the langoustine with the unusual ingredient of popcorn and while it sounds strange the whole dish was delicious and worth trying. I noticed popcorn oil a few other places while in Bergen. This was inventive and so tasty. My partner had the duck and loved it. The food and atmosphere are perfect.

We had a wonderful stay at Opus XVI. The staff are amazing, the rooms beautiful and comfortable and it is located near all major attractions.

The hotel is handsome and the staff friendly and welcoming. The location is hard to top.

I am 65 years old, a picky eater, and vegan into the bargain, and let me tell you——-stay at top us XVI if for no other reason than the breakfast.

Solid choice near pier & city center, easy walk to everything. Service was good at breakfast, along with good choices. Pastry was limited though. Bed isn't the most comfort, felt like falling off the sides.

Amazing staff, food and room comfort. Great breakfast and location to shopping or taking a stroll. Bed turned down for the evening was a classic touch.

The hotel location and exclusivity is amazing but I'd recommend to not loose the opportunity to enjoy dinner at the restaurant and ask for the advise of the French Maitre... and amazing guy and experience. Five stars recommendation!!!

Nice hotel but didn't live up to the top spot in Bergen. No introduction to the hotel by staff, confusing layout, superior room was very small and very little space to hang or store clothes.

Spent 6 nights at this beautiful hotel. I’d booked the Ingeborg suite as a surprise for my husband on his retirement and whilst I had some idea what to expect, he didn’t, so loved how surprised he was.
Suite was beautiful. Most comfortable bed and pillows. Nightly turn down was such a treat.
Welcome gift on arrival, beautiful. Fresh flowers throughout the stay.
Everything in the suite was class & lovely to light the Molton Brown candle every night.
Breakfast was so nice. Great choice & the setting, just perfect.
The staff - everyone of them, so friendly, knowledgeable, chatty and professional. They all made us feel very welcome.
We really enjoyed sitting in the bar in the evening with a cocktail listening to the very chilled music. Perfect.
The location of the hotel is unreal. A short walk to the ferry, sites & the train. We walked everywhere, it is that accessible.
This hotel may be more expensive than others in the area but it is totally worth it, especially if you are staying a few nights in Bergen.
Our suite was stunning, staff exceptional, facilities great, food delicious, bar / restaurant beautiful, can’t fault it.
If you are looking to have a exceptional time in Bergen, treat yourself and stay at Opus XVI, you will not be disappointed, it will just make your trip extra special.

Wonderful hotel with warm staff and a great location for visiting the sites of Bergen. We would definitely return ourselves, and would recommend to our friends.

What a wonderful historic hotel about a 10 minute walk from shopping, dining, train station, as well as the Munch Museum and other sites!

Great breakfast in the morning and bar in the evening. The staff are kind and helpful. Very low key place - walk around in the building to see the gorgeous architectural features.

Absolutely loved this hotel. It is part of Hilton SLH chain, but booked directly. Very luxurious feel, spacious rooms and superb location.

We spent two nights at this hotel in October. The rooms are large and well-maintained, the bathrooms are also large. The staff was uniformly excellent. No complaints and would definitely stay again.

Very nice hotel, the room was clean, nice and comfortable, bed was very comfortable, bathroom was spacious, bath products were very nice. The room had all amenities, including coffee maker and umbrella, and a handy coat rack by the door, even if it wasn’t particularly big. Location was perfect, close to everything and breakfast was amazing. Staff was polite and attentive.

An attractive period building in a very central location (literally next to the waterfront). We stayed in a suite and it was lovely, comfortable and well decorated. Our only niggle was the heating - the “living room” was separate to the bedroom and had the only radiator. The bedroom was cold and had no way to heat without blasting the other room with heat and hoping it would vent through.

The breakfast is good and the restaurant doubles up as a smart dinner option (we didn’t try it). The hotel bar is well equipped and cosy.

Would happily stay again!

Beautiful heritage hotel. perfect location. walking distance all the places of interest and station. excellent breakfast. Staff is extremely warm. very good service. Estelle at the reception was very helpful. and Evaa at the restaurant made our day with her Beautiful smile every morning. highly recommend Opus XVI

We loved our stay here. The hotel is in a great location and the staff were always helpful. Breakfasts were excellent. Our room was very nice and it had the most comfortable bed compared to the 12 other hotels we stayed in on this trip. The only minor criticism would be that the room lighting is too dim to be useful.

The hotel is beautiful. The front reception staff were very helpful and friendly. the breakfast was amazing and our server was great. she was an intern and very friendly. the fact that they will valet your car (for a charge) was well worth it! parking in the city is not easy and not close by. The only negatives: the lighting in the small room was awkward. the coffee machine area has under shelf lighting that shines straight into the sleeping person's pillow and its very close to the bed. and there was no dimmed lighting option in the room. the room was nice enough but felt small for the price.
