Beautiful house and magnificent garden.
Nothing, it’s stunning and feels friendly and welcoming.
Beautiful grounds and lounges.
Was a bit too quiet on a Thursday night and we almost had the Orangery restaurant to ourselves. A bit strange. The rooms facing what is described as the ‘inner courtyard ‘ are in fact facing the service yard so a bit noisy.
The breakfast (Yorkshire fried breakfast) was excellent, very well cooked.
The location was very good as we were stopping over from our trip in Scotland back to Thaxted, Essex
The grounds were beautifully maintained and the flower beds were amazing, I’m jealous.
The room was cosy as stated but the bed & pillows were so comfortable. The bathroom was small but had a bath/shower. Overall the room was good value for money.
Staff were very helpful and friendly
Nothing
Goldsborough Hall is a very special venue and helped us organise the picture perfect wedding. Amanda and the team were incredible from day one of considering the venue for our big day, all the way through the planning process and ran a seamless day.
We would highly recommend this venue to any couple wanting a perfect little slice of Yorkshire, with stunning grounds and incredible food. Thank you to Goldsborough Hall for a simply flawless day which we will cherish forever.
Staff were friendly and welcoming, knowledgeable about the hotel plus they were very efficient around the hotel-- NOTHING was too much trouble.
Food quality and portion size was excellent - all cooked fresh
Our room was spacious clean and welcoming with the bonus touch of a hand written welcoming card from the owners plus freshly made cookies.
Nothing
Our second stay this time, and as with our first, it did not disappoint!. We got a deal and had a suite this time. Great, nice bathroom ( there was a slight issue with odour, so we reported this at reception ), but not a big deal. Supersize TV and 4 poster bed, altogether vey comfortable. The meal was great again in the evening. Somewhat unusual for us as the chef introduced some unusuall flavour combinations!!. Great staff and berakfast..Will certainly book again, but would look for any deals on offer.
We had the most amazing wedding day at Goldsborough Hall. The location is stunning- gardens, surrounding farmland, and their wonderful greenhouse make a perfect setting.
We were able to book the whole hotel for 2 nights, which extended the celebration and allowed us to spend more time with family.
All our guests loved their rooms and ambience- yes, it is an old building and has a worryingly creaky lift! - but the four poster rooms were very special, the accessible room was perfect for one of our group, and the hotel meeting room made an ideal kids games room when the children were bored.
The wedding itself was perfect- venue, ambiance, attention to detail, quality of the food , decor and staff cannot be faulted. The wedding team are excellent, with amazing attention to detail. They worked very well with our wedding planner, and we couldnt have had a better day. Thank you so much!
The history , decor and character the gardens fabulous
Fabulous
We have enjoyed the special packages on many occasions over the last 7 years, but this wasn’t one of them. The food was very disappointing. I chose the halibut for the main course and found it to be overcooked, my husband’s choice of pheasant he wasn’t enamoured with. The coconut dessert was minuscule and tasted of nothing at all.
On this occasion I was pleased that the food was included in the package because I would not have been happy to pay for the food that we had.
Beautiful place with so much history. Had come for The Byerley Turk but also enjoyed the Lime Tree Walk.
Nicely equipped rooms. Excellent shower. Good coffee machine and nice to have fresh milk and chilled water in the fridge.
Loved the photos of the hall from the 1920s.
Wall between rooms very thin. I could hear both my neighbours conversations and their sex. Had to turn the tv on to make it bearable. The washbasins were also at an angle and couldn’t leave anything on them without them falling into the sink. Toothbrush etc.
My wife and I had an amazing day. The Hall, and surrounding grounds are stunning and it was fantastic to be able to have all our family stay at the hall on the night. The food was delicious and we had lots of complements from the guests.
Amanda and the whole wedding team were incredible and so helpful in the lead up to the wedding answering any questions we had, no matter how small. On the day the whole Goldsborough team made everything run so smoothly, we had such a stress free day.
The fine dining menu was exceptional
The room had no view and the bed was smaller than expected
Great peaceful atmosphere. Clean room. Very welcoming
Having read the reviews we were disappointed and underwhelmed by our visit. The Hall is beautiful but it didn’t live up to its 5 star rating. The carpet in our room (The Wharton Suite) had lots of stains and could do with a good clean. Disappointing for a 5 star.
If you needed a drink you had to find someone to man the bar.
We ate in the Orangery Tuesday night food was OK but service not good. We had to ask for the wine list and we were given a small menu with about six wines listed. We asked if there was a more comprehensive list and we were told there was a bigger one but it would probably be the same just bigger writing !!!
5 star service I don’t think so. We did eventually did get the more comprehensive wine list.
Such a shame as this has not inspired us to go back and by the way we ate at the Bay Horse in the village Wednesday night and we did get very good food and service.
I can highly recommend Goldsborough Hall.
It is a great location, very pleasant and helpful staff, very tranquil, clean and good value for money
