The room was clean and tidy
Ths shower,was dirty with black mould,plus shower head

The gent on reception was nice and polite, as was the bar person that served me my meal. The food in the bar was nice to be fair.
The hotel stairs are dangerous when you get to the 2nd floor. The stair carpet has not seen a hoover since goodness knows when. The stairs at the top of the 2nd floor go in such a squint direction it is dangerous. Numerous doors to go through then more stairs was ridiculous. When I opened the door to the room I was in I was shocked to see the scabby windows and the materials hanging from them. A "do not open window" sign was taped onto the filthy window advising the handle was loose awaiting repair - utter nonsense. The bathroom sink was filthy under the bowl, the windows have not seen a cloth for years and the walls were disgusting with stains all over. The shower head was dreadful just letting out a dribble of water that I could not actually rinse the shampoo from my hair. This is only fit for desperate people in need of somewhere to stay in Montrose, even for the the working man who just needs a bed and a shower I would imagine not be happy to stay here. Needless to say I did not sleep a wink in the room due to an off and on noise of what sounded like air con but this was not coming from my room, it was slightly quieter with the bathroom door closed so may have been from the room next door. Going back to the bar, it was far too dark, really dingy and the seats are at an awkward height to eat from off the table.
Good value after the Highlands. Friendly staff, good dinner (the small portion menu was morethan adequate) and good breakfast. Car parking.
The exterior of the building is a little forbidding, but don't let this put you off.
Staff were incredibly helpful and supportive. Gentleman behind the desk let me order and delivered to room. I had just come back from three days out at a rally event so was in no shape to be sitting in dining area!

Hotel was lovely , clean , very warm and cozy, room was lovely and staff are really polite and friendly , breakfast was amazing and piping hot with a good cooked selection, good coffee
I didnt like that the room has a book that tells you that you cant eat or drink in the room unless you order room service that stops around 8-8:30 and really expensive, no food or drink to be consumed or brought in from outside, most people head away for the weekend and head out at night for a few drinks and pick up a small takeout on way back to hotel , but here you need to stand outside in the rain and eat before you go in to ask for you key again , i also didn't like that every time you head out to the shops or a walk ect that you need to leave your key at the front desk , that anyone could pick up as not always staffed , also felt like it was to watch if we where bringing any food or drinks in , as came in and i think it was the lady owner that was trying to see what was in my bag , breakfast juice and water ect could have been getting topped up regularly as i had to ask the boy if he could top them up to be asked what one , why not just top up apple, orange and water as three glasses out them and its empty again , i wasn't the only person to ask , bed was uncomfortable as mattress was collapsed in , there is also two clubs outside and a police station, so can be noisy late at night

Booked a room that was advertised on the booking.com site and was given a much smaller room and when i asked for a partial refund i outright was refused even though it wasnt the room i booked and paid for! Scamming customers asking them to pay for rooms advertised on website that are not available at the hotel. Misleading and fradulent. Do not book this place. Staff and management uncooperative and rude.

Noise from nightclub/bar across the road. I realise that was why the room was so cheap and late availability. A Saturday night during the Mofest , so to be expected.

Room had a musty smell. Breakfast was basic. Young girl was very curt on arrival and looked like she couldn’t be bothered dealing with us!
