I am writing this review to share my incredibly disappointing experience with The Box Hotel, which I would not recommend to anyone.

The photos on their booking site are completely deceptive and do not accurately reflect the actual condition of the property. I had booked this hotel for my security and driver while visiting the country, paying in full for one room and planning to pay for the other upon arrival. However, upon arrival, I was told they had no record of either reservation. I was forced to wait for hours while they tried to resolve the issue, which they never informed me why they couldnt find the reservation. I attempted to pay for the second room via electronic payment but due to their terrible wifi connection it did not go through. They insisted I send the payment to a Bank of America Zelle account, which I did on my second attempt. After leaving the premises, my original payment finally went through, leaving me double charged. When I contacted the hotel for a refund, they initially agreed to reimburse me but then refused to follow through. The owner of the establishment was manipulative and played unnecessary games, making the process incredibly frustrating. To make matters worse, the hotel’s facilities were abysmal. The toilets overflowed into the rooms, and there was an entire day without running water. This level of negligence is unacceptable for any guest. Dealing with this establishment was an absolute nightmare, & I have yet to receive a refund overpaying

The room smelled.

The water in shower wouldn't drain, obviously the drain was plugged. I complained to the manager and was told "you'll just have to deal with it."

The free "breakfast" is nothing more than tea and bread.

Nice adult property it will be recommended to passport and world traveler friends. The wifi policy is not good and wifi was not great. The bar lacked local aka Nigerian options. Why would travelers want to come over 5,000 miles to drink just what they have back home. Just sayin more local drink options. They don't have visa or master card service. So be extra prepared before entering the country.

Check in went well, unfortunately the power in the room we had booked was faulty. It kept going on and off for about an hour. Eventually, exhausted from travelling we were asked to relocate by the receptionist. After another room was assigned to us, another receptionist claimed that we would have to pay the price difference for the new room even though the move was as a result of their own poor facilities. Eventually they backed down on that. The rooms are tiny with very little space to move around. There is no handwash basin in the bathroom, the parking space was so narrow at the second residence, we had to park in the street etc, etc. They took a refundable deposit in cash but insisted on transferring the payment to an account immediately after checkout instead of paying it back in cash. 24 hours later, I've not received the deposit or an explanation from Box Residence. If you have to stay here, take the hotel rooms instead of the studio. Even at that, you'll probably get better value for your money elsewhere.

The privacy and serenity of the environment was good. They tried to maintain 24hr power supply. The security guards were also diligent. Staff tried their best as well. Property was not bad.

This property is small but clean and decent. Relatively modern. Pleasant staff. Decent rooms and bathroom and amenities. I will visit this property again if necessary.

This hotel had a 4.5-star ratings prior to my reservation. But upon arrival I was pretty disappointed with what I saw. From the receptionist desk to the lounge to the deluxe/superior room - that I was assigned to - to the bathroom were disappointing. Overall, the hotel was relatively clean but everything else is pretty old, barely functional but manageable if you're desperate. The 4.5 star rating must be 10 years+ old. As at March 2019, the realistic rating should be 2.0 and nothing more. Staff were pleasant and friendly.

very small rooms, the deluxe room is the second to highest room in this hotel, yet very small. It's the size of a regular standard room. I bought my room ticket almost 10:00pm, I got to the facility and the street gate was locked at 12:00pm. called the hotel and no one picked. ***It took Orbitz an hour on the phone to help, after trying to push the blame on me for not checking in at 2:00pm for a ticket bought at almost 10:00pm same day***
I was on the phone with one of the hotel staff for another 20mins-30mins to get an alternative entrance at about 3:00am the next day. at 11:30 the front desk called to inform us about checking out by 12:00pm, not even if we would like to extend our stay.
I am not an happy camper and won't be using this hotel ever again.

I had a wonderful experience at Box Residence!! I was there for 3 weeks and my stay was nothing but wonderful. The entire staff is very friendly which made my stay very comfortable. This location is right in the heart of Lekki and easily accessible by Uber. The hotel is very intimate and quite and the staff is well attentive. The property is very clean and has a sheek and modern decor and ambiance which is also good for pictures. I will definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to anyone that is visiting Lagos.
