The new managers of the property are super friendly and helpful, with prompt responses to questions. They are doing a fantastic job updating the property and offer one of the best complimentary breakfasts around the area.

Cerca de la playa y durante el chequeo de ingreso, no tardaron ni un minuto y habían entregado mi habitación.
El desayuno está rico. El servicio al cliente fue agradable.

This is a basic hotel, no frills. We stayed for 3 nights to be in town after being on Playa Negra for 3 nights. Beds and bathroom are basic but suffice. Hot water is questionable, but honestly a nice cool shower after sweating all fay is fine by me. Breakfast was adequate, check in was smooth. Other reviewers noted the lack of tv (we had room 8, a king bed with balcony) but we didn't even use the tv in the beachfront hotel, so not a big deal to us. Wifi was stable. Security seemed ok, although the balcony door didn't lock and door too room was flumsy and being eaten by carpenter ants. But all was what we expected for the cost.

The staff was beyond kind at this property. Our rooms were always clean when we got back from activities, breakfast was great, and I felt really safe! The location couldn’t have been better!

Stayed at the traditional house/apartment that has 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms. All three bedrooms have air conditioning. The living, kitchen areas and bathrooms do not have AC. There are a few bugs/insects around which is to be expected but they don’t bother you. Note that Breakfast is No Longer offered by them or included in the room rate which was disappointing. Otherwise a good property - reasonably clean and in a very good location in Puerto Viejo.

Room #8 is clean but tired (lots of chipped paint, loose tiles). Very sombre. No decoration on the walls not even a sad mass-produced framed poster. No TV. No drinking glasses. Bed was very, very hard. It's only two stories high, not a tower at all. Hotel has 0 amenities and 0 public spaces. It's 3 blocks from downtown and beach so easily walked to restaurants, bars, shops, laundry.

The hotel is in a great location, seems like you are in a rainforest. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic and the staff was great. You can walk everywhere. The hotel is clean and refreshed however you can still tell they have things to do…ie. the shower head was hanging from a rope, there wasn’t a mini fridge and no tv.

Clean, nice staff, and air conditioning. Close to everything. We had a lizard running between the ceiling and roof at night but that is par for being in the jungle.

Bauernfängerei - wir haben dieses Hotel für unseren Aufenthalt an der karibischen Küste gewählt und uns extra für ein etwas teureres entschieden, weil wir dachten, wir wären direkt / nah an einem der traumhaften Strände. Erwartet hat uns ein Hotel mitten in der Stadt Puerto Viejo, 4 blocks vom Meer entfernt, mit Bildern auf der Seite von Stränden 8 km (Punta Uva) entfernt. Für das Geld hätten wir weitaus andere schönere Hotels buchen können. Außerdem war das Zimmer nicht so wie angegeben gepflegt, Sicht vom Balkon auf Wellblechdächer, vom Nachbarn oben drüber gab es abends eine Dusche, weil das Bad überschwemmt wurde, den Nachbarn nebenan konnte man beim Atmen hören, in der Parallelstraße gabs eine Baustelle (auch abends) und das warme Wasser im Bad war entweder kochend heiß oder eiskalt.
