The decorating was trendy and cool. It was great to stay in such an historic building that had been repurposed. The wooden floors were beautiful. The bed was very comfy, and the AC worked well. We were in the Flutter Wing with a big bathroom and lots of counter space. We had a skylight which gave us wonderful natural light. They offered daily maid service, and would even deliver breakfast to our room.
The parking situation was complicated. We got a fob to open a gate to the parking area. On the second day, the fob stopped working, so we had to go to the front desk and get someone to let us in. There was also a pedestrian door to the parking area, but our fob didn't work for that. We should have gotten a code so we could enter easily. Then there was a very slow elevator behind more locked doors to get to our room. This made it cumbersome and slow to move our luggage. They had a nice coffee area near our room, but I would have liked a better selection of coffee, specifically some bolder blends. They also did not restock the ceramic mugs, so we had to use the disposable cups instead.
Breakfast was very good, especially the chicken biscuits. We enjoyed the free welcome drinks when we arrived along with the caramel popcorn.
The bed was extremely comfortable!
What a DIAMOND!! Trust & believe you do not want to miss this hotel. This place is incredible! The ambience and the vibe is straight out of a New York luxury hotel.. it will remind you of being in a friend’s home that is filled with all kinds of memories of a family. That’s not what this Hotel has instead of family portraits you will find the most amazing art throughout the hotel however, it will be the way it makes you feel.. I hope I have her name right the manager, Latoya will greet you with the most brilliant smile and a warm personality. The entire is amazing again this hotel will not disappoint. You’ll be offered breakfast in the morning if you care to indulge, the rooms are clean and so inviting!! The beds are so comfy you are guaranteed a GREAT night’s sleep. FYI, They appreciate pets, but there are no pets allowed at this hotel..The area is pretty accessible to all types of food but just in case UBER EATS will deliver to the hotel. Depending on what time of year you are visiting it may not be as full as it usually is you are by the university and most of the children at this time have returned home or are working throughout some of the shops in town. in addition, if you or you know someone that is getting married, this is the perfect spot to have your bridal party booked!! Serious, I could go on and but I won’t. I’m just letting you know that this is a MUST when you are in Columbia, South Carolina you will not be sorry if you book this hotel. As for us,we look forward to returning again soon.
Location
I didn’t dislike it. I’ve just stayed in better hotels for the same price. The bathroom being directly next to the bed and the closet in the bathroom was a turn off.
We like quirky, unusual properties so the pictures drew us in. The neighborhood has some empty places and some vagrants in the adjacent blocks, nevertheless we were within walking distance of the downtown and the price for the room was good including breakfast...for the one day it was out on time. The next day it was 1/2 hour late, sheesh. Coffee was on though. Wine or beer on arrival is nice if the front desk person knows the difference between unscrewing a top or pulling a cork, lol, she did not and messed up two bottles. She said she didn't drink wine. Everyone was nice. The parking across the street was unclear in the hotel's instructions so my tip is to pull up front to unload and register and get concrete instructions about where to park. The chicken n biscuits for breakfast keep me from saying I'd stay elsewhere next time.
The room was nicely appointed, the hotel was quiet and the bed was heavenly! The staff was very friendly and helpful!
While the coffee was great, the continental breakfast was not; the frozen pastries tasted defrosted and stale, and day after day of chicken and biscuits, while it may be a southern delight, it was not what I was looking for in breakfast.
Beautiful design, lovely rooms with high ceiling and comfy bed and shower. Great location and a nice breakfast.
Nothing!
I would like to share our wonderful experience with Hotel Trundle , the best place my husband and I ever stayed at. My sons wedding was in Columbia , South Carolina and we stayed for a long weekend at hotel Trundle. The hotel staff was amazing and accomadating from the minute we arrived. Latoya and Cameron and Solo just to name a few were completely lovely and wonderful. Christian was amazing as well. If you needed something they would jump to do it for you. The rooms were super clean and the housekeeping staff were so nice and pleasant. The breakfast in the morning was wonderful and always well stocked with plenty of hot coffee until very late at night. If you are ever in the Columbia South Carolina area please check out this hotel you will be very pleased to stay here and on a scale from 1 to 10 I would give it a ten, thanks Latoya for all of your help, you were all amazing. We will be returning.
Nice property and good location. Staff was helpful and pleasant
Nothing that comes to mind
The funky and unique atmosphere
Almost no natural light in the room and smelled slightly musty
Would return to the property and recommend it to others. Nice that it isn’t a chain hotel. Room was clean and bed was so comfortable. Large bathroom.
