We wanted a hotel with nice rooms and a restaurant close to the ferry port.
This hotel delivered and some.
If you choose to stay in this hotel see if room 9 is available the views are spectacular.
The staff in reception, bar and restaurant were both efficient but extremely friendly we were made to feel vet welcome.
The food in the restaurant was extremely good quality and reasonably priced.
The room itself was well appointed and vey clean.
A very good stay - a very good hotel
Great location
Breakfast was too late for me to be able to use facility.
Food was first class, no complaints. We all had an early bird meal, however extremely disappointed to discover that veg is not included with a roast dinner and incurs an extra charge! I do understand that a lot of people do not always want veg but I think if it is an option to have it, it should be included in the price of meal.
Exactly what we wanted (cyclists starting the C2C). Great value and staff sprang into action when we asked to have evening meal at virtually the time the kitchen was due to close.
Nice little hotel that provided us with what was required for a short stay.
The car park is off road but small however there is free parking in the street which is quiet and well lit at night. The room was fine although a little tired in places but we slept well enough .
The staff were really helpful and accomodating . The breakfast was superb ! Filled me up until the evening and in particular the full cooked Scots fry was on point. Quality produce well cooked and presented. I would imagine the meals served in the resteraunt during the day would be as good too. We did not dine here in the evening as we were out with family most of the day but the menu we saw was extensive. The public areas were well presented and provisoned .
Stranraer people are just so friendly . We would stay here again.
The craignelder hotel is a very nice, clean and friendly hotel. The breakfasts are brilliant and plentiful. The staff are all very friendly and tidy also very efficient. I didn't have a dinner as I had other plans but the menu is excellent and the food looked incredible. I have no hesitation to recommend this hotel to anyone.
I did have an issue whereby I came back one day and discovered an A4 size paper stuck on the dressing table with a message about smoking in the room and anyone found to be doing this would be FINED £50 for extra cleaning. I had been out for the day and when smoking I put my used cigarette ends in a pocket on the side of my bag to dispose of sensibly. However on returning to the hotel I disposed of the cigarette ends in the waste bin. I was fuming when I saw the message and confronted the manager and explained why there were cigarette ends in the bin. I said a better way would have been to ask me to my face for an explanation which I wouldn't have had a problem as I could have cleared up any misunderstanding instead of having a sarcastic note left in my room. By the way I am a 67yrs old pensioner. I did get an apology which I accepted. Also there isn't a lot of car parking on site (room for about 7 vehicles) . However there's car parks nearby. Apart from this little mistake by the hotel everything else was very good.
It's close enough to the local shops but far enough away to still be quiet.
The rooms are nice and clean and the bed was quite comfy.
I stayed there only for one night as I had a ferry to catch in the morning and that's only 10 mins away.
The breakfast was great, very filling, fresh and hot.
There is a kettle in the room but in my room there wasn't a plug socket close enough to use it where it was so I had to either put the kettle over by the bed or on the floor.
It's not their fault but parking is very limited (4 cars out front) so bear that in mind, especially if you have a larger vehicle.
Overall it's a great little hotel and I'd definitely use it again
Great hotel, good food, fantastic staff. Will stay here again.👍👍
Nothing
Breakfast offered a great selection of hot and cold food.
I had to park on the street one night as the car park was full. However being on a corner site, the hotel does not have a lot of parking.
Very friendly staff
Great food - breakfast included : also chose to eat my evening meal here which was excellent
Room comfortable but was very aware of noises from other rooms in the corridor- was awake until after 0100 as a result of disturbances
Location
No beer garden
Easily accessible, and no problem parking
Nothing
Lovely hotel and staff
Fantastic little spot. Staff were super friendly and made our stay perfect. We had a fantastic evening meal and the breakfast was perfect
Not that we didn't like but the room was small and could be updated but wouldn't let that put me off .
