Poor
Pros:

The hotel is tired, room was grubby with cobwebs, bed was uncomfortable because it was so old. Felt like I was falling out of it. No lighting outside to show the entrance. Overall poor and very unloved hotel.

The Dumfries Arms is a genuinely great place to stay, I would recommend to anyone.
Pros:

The Dumfries Arms Hotel offers friendly, smiling, and efficient staff who make you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. The food is consistently good, well prepared, and well presented. The rooms are comfortable, spotless, and clearly well cared for, making it an easy place to relax and enjoy your stay.

Cons:

In the part of the hotel where I stayed, there was no lift, and the stairs were quite a climb. This didn’t put me off re‑booking, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re booking for someone with a disability, older guests, families with prams, or anyone travelling with heavy luggage. I’m sure the staff would happily help, they’re fantastic, but it’s still worth considering in advance.

Would not come back
Pros:

The receptionist was friendly and one girl at breakfast.

Cons:

Bar staff were not friendly. A wedding of over 100 guests with one bar open and two people serving. Everywhere was uncomfortably warm but the bedroom was unbearable. Bathroom sink was cracked and the bath chipped. Breakfast started at 8 but the staff were just arriving in to work and informed us we would have a wait for the bread to come out as it was defrosting!

Staff friendly and welcoming! Reception area was lovely but let down by how small the room was! The downstairs of hotel
Pros:

The reception area was lovely,

Cons:

The room we stayed in was extremely small!! We paid to check in early so we could get ready for a wedding. There was no space to do so! It was literally a bed in a room! Room was needing upgrading! Bathroom tiles were loose and cracked. Main light went out in middle of getting ready!
