Welcoming, friendly and helpful
Pros:

The staff were really exceptional. Catered to our needs - including dieatary requirements really well. When there was an issue with our booking - booking.com told us we had dinner as part of the deal but the hotel didnt have that recorded - they dealt with it so amazingly well and really accommodated us and made it no problem. We had one exceptional staff member throughout. I wish I knew her name. She has a young 18 month boy. She was superb! Honestly! If anyone from the hotel reads this I can tell you she deserves a raise.

Cons:

The bed was quite hard. But apart from that it was great.

A reasonable base for visiting Dumfries House.
Pros:

Well located for Dumfries House.

Cons:

Dark dining room requires more lighting. Very complicated billing between set DB&B and à la carte menus.

Bed comfortable, but get a bath or shower elsewhere!
Pros:

Bed was comfortable

Cons:

Shower was either roasting hot or freezing. I got a room specifically with a bath, to relax, but couldn't due to the ongoing water situation. Radiator wasn't working either, so an electric heater was put in it's place. Hotel would be good if it was maintained.

Welcoming, clean and comfortable. Staff friendly and attentive.
Pros:

Warm welcome, room clean and comfortable. Staff very attentive at breakfast and evening meal.

Cons:

Would have liked outside area away from cars to enjoy the sunshine. Only option was terrace at the front of car park near the road and entrance to the car park. Drain smell inside the hotel at times too.

Disapointed.
Cons:

Nice looking hotel & well decorated. Unfortunately kitchen closes at 8.30pm, even on saturday so trying to get food at 8.20pm was impossible...

Mattress in my room was well past it's sell by date and without a topper would have been a nightmare.

Shame-could be a great place to stay.

O K place to stay if one required accommodation in that area and very near Dumfries house
Pros:

Very clean. Helpful staff. Satisfactory even if not memorable food.easy parking.

Cons:

We had a basic continental breakfast but when we asked for Earl Grey tea we were informed that we would have to pay an extra charge which seemed ridiculous.
