Pros:

We had a wonderful stay at The Old Vine in Winchester, which is perfectly located for exploring the city — shops, cafés, and historic sights are all just moments away. It’s an easy 10 to 15 minute walk from Winchester railway station when you arrive.
Our room was absolutely charming, a lovely blend of character and comfort. Visiting in Summer 2026, we were especially grateful for the portable air conditioning unit, which kept us refreshed and our room cool — a small detail that made a big difference. At one point, a staff member also popped by with a small vase of gorgeous flowers for our room, which was a really beautiful and thoughtful touch.
Located opposite the park that leads directly to Winchester Cathedral, The Old Vine puts the historic heart of the city right on your doorstep making sightseeing effortlessly easy.
We’d highly recommend The Old Vine to anyone after a relaxing, comfortable stay with wonderfully attentive, friendly staff and a truly unbeatable central location in Winchester. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back again!

A very enjoyable stopover on our way home.
Pros:

All the staff were absolutely delightful. Professional and exceptionally polite and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable and very well equipped. The fact that it was right in the centre of the town with views of the cathedral.

Fabulous building in a brilliant location with top staff
Pros:

Loved the character and location. Cosy, fun and well appointed.
The staff in the restaurant were a standout and made the night a great experience

Cons:

Just one tiny thing… the old floors sloped so much we ended up sleeping the wrong way round on the bed…. But it worked !!

Tolle Lage direkt am Cathedral Close, freundliches junges Team und gute Küche. Altes Gebäude toll renoviert, authentisch.

Cons:

Nichts, Parkplatz nur mit Glück in der Nähe zu finden, aber dafür kann das Hotel nichts

Historic small inn in the heart of Winchester cosy with excellent breakfast
Pros:

The location absolutely central but quiet as next to the cathedral park - the bar closes at 11pm and is very friendly. Breakfast was fantastic. Great sized room very comfortable with a place to eat, sofa to relax and a good set of furniture to unpack our clothes- we were travelling to a wedding so it was perfect

Cons:

The only thing I didn’t like was the plug in air fresheners- and it was difficult to open the windows enough so it got very warm and a bit stuffy
