Good breakfast well priced
Restaurant decided to close at 7.30 because they were quiet
Location and breakfast
Dinner menu could be better, there was far better choice in the local area. But the quality of the food was good
NIce comfortable rooms with friendly staff at reception and serving breakfast.
Our first interaction was being asked for an 'early check-in' fee of £30 because we wanted to use the room before 1600 in order to change for a wedding - other guests who were also stung mentioned that 'this was a bit of a cheek'! We would agree as the room was already ready!
Our comfortable room was in a converted cottage alongside the main building - the free guest wifi could be best described as intermittent.
We were also puzzled about how we would have coped if there had been a fire in the cottage - there were no instructions on the back of the door and no obvious means of escape apart from back down the narrow stairs which could well have been the source of the fire.
The breakfast was adequate, but they kept running out of things. Service was slow.
The menu in the restaurant was very sparse.Cod for the cod and chips was frozen, which made it watery and tasteless. The steak pie had more vegetables than steak, with the pastry a hard lump served on the side.
Very small room smell from bathroom like blocked drains. Cobwebs around windows. tv ( 19 inch ..really)
Broken ..not seen anything that small in 10 years.
Poor quality food gammon very salty and fatty a load of oven chips !!! I paid £80 room disgraceful. Ask for better room refused due to being full....only 3 cars in car park total cowboys
Everything
Location. We were staying for a wedding at the Hopton Court which was a five min walk away. Room was large and comfortable. Staff were great. Asked for an iron and ironing board and a fan as it was very hot and all supplied very quickly. Food was great. Staff were lovely even when I left without paying the food and drink bill from the night before.
I felt the outside seating area was a little run down and could have benefited from some TLC which has obviously been lavished on the rooms.
We chose this hotel because it was close to a family wedding which was due to start at 3pm; we had stayed for a similar occasion 7 years ago, and were happy to return. Arriving after a 2 hour drive, we had a good pub meal before the wedding with other family members, the staff were friendly and our room was clean.
Some of us had the breakfast which, at £12 ph was good value, though there were was no fruit available.
For obvious reasons, we needed access to our rooms in order to change before the wedding. We were told the rooms were ready but we would need to pay an extra £30 in order to gain access because 'check-in wasn't until 3pm'. We had no choice but to pay up, but no member of staff was inconvenienced by admitting us to our rooms an hour and a half early. This has never happened to me before and, in my view, reflects poor customer service.
15 minutes walk from venue
headboard, bathroom rad had no thermostat, which was an oversight given it was on full on the hottest day/night of the year to date.
The cooked breakfast was very nice, and served promptly.
The location was handy for our plans in a beautiful part of Shropshire.
Good beer at the bar.
Our room a little bit noisy in the annex
It was clean & comfortable, they went the extra mile for our pet dog with providing a bed, towel & bowl.
Only a minor detail, the location was 2.5 miles from Cleobury Mortimer where the post code is registered.
