Pros:

İki gece konaklama fırsatı buldum. Merkezi ve güvenilir bir konumda olması güzel. Temizdi fakat odalar sigara kokuyordu her yere sinmiş bu rahatsız ediciydi. Adana ya gelince otel kahvaltısı yapamazdık elbette, nasıl olduğunu hiç merak etmedim bile yorum yapamıyorum. Uygun fiyatlı olması ve sessizliği güzel. Tekrar Adana’ya gitsem tercih ederim.

Güzel bir konaklama
Pros:

Pros:

Adana çarşı merkezinde, küçük saat kulesi yakınında bulunuyor. Her şey elinin altında yürüme mesafesinde. Her yer esnaf lokantası dolu.O nedenle yiyecek bulma sorunu yok. Ünlü yerler yürüme mesafesinde. Otel küçük ,temiz, aile oteli. Zemin laminant parke, halı yok. Banyoda normal terlik bulunuyor. Her gün çarşaf ve havlu değişiyor mu? Evet! Gelen havlular temiz mi? Evet! Oda ölçüsü biraz küçük ama yeterli. Ara sokakta olduğu için dış mekan gürültüsü gelmiyor. Bir daha gelir miyim? Kesinlikle evet!

Pros:

I can’t say I was impressed with the hotel. Though my check-in was pretty quick, unfortunately, I had some communication issues with the staff. Throughout my stay, it was difficult to communicate with anyone at the hotel as no one spoke any other language but Turkish (save for one individual who spoke a little English). My room was ok though there were holes in the bedsheets. Unfortunately, the day I arrived, I came down with a fever. As a result, I decided to stay for three extra days in order to recuperate. Otherwise, I would have only stayed the one night. The bonus is that there was breakfast but it was limited compared to other hotels I stayed for a similar price point. Overall, I’m neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with my stay. The staff did their best but I’d recommend they at least have one staff member on who can speak other languages. For a budget traveler, it’s worth looking into but that’s about it.

Fair deal
Pros:

The price is good in comparison in other hotels in Adana. In general, it was a fair deal. Only the rooms were smelling like cigarettes. Still, room size is incredibly small. Wifi was horrible. Air condition was super noisy and the bed sheets weren't cool at all !!

Pros:

Was a last minute booking, we just were glad we found something... the place is clean and the staff members were very helpful although nobody speaks English. But the good thing is that it's only a ten_minutes ride from the airport.

Very friendly and decent room
Pros:

This was a perfect place for an overnight. We could walk to some of the things we wanted to see, including the huge mosque by the river. We've never met a more friendly or helpful proprietor! Rooms and bathrooms were pretty ordinary, but it was clean and well-kept.

OK
Pros:

This is a totally ok hotel. It is located in the centrum of Adana. They didn't clean every day, but it worked well. The staff wasn't very friendly. The room was nice and fresh. The breakfast was good with a few options.

Lovely, central, old building and owner
Pros:

Wonderful welcome, with coffee and help with luggage. Charming, large old building in the middle of Adana. Shops, restaurants close by. Many interesting places within walking distance.

The room, with bath was good – clean if a bit small. Nice little lobby downstairs, and small balcony at all levels. We had assistance to the airport when we left. We would stay again.

Central, pride of ownership.
Pros:

Are there two Mercan Hotels because it is hard to believe the one I stayed in warranted these bad reviews. Found this one while looking for another that I found the next morning. The other was shabby. This hotel is clean, comfortable, Owner obviously proud of his hotel, no invasive behavior from the hotel staff as one reviewer experienced. Walk to Roman bridge, mall, Hilton, archaeology museum, worlds highest mosque dome, shopping streets. Hotel gives decent maps of the town. Street bus to airport (Meydan 2) leaves from two blocks East of hotel.

Cheap prices
Pros:

Stayed 3 nights in a single room for business. Clean but not much comfortable and not much space. Breakfast is given by friendly staff. At first the bathroom was terrible but because of the water coming from the flusher.
Cheap prices, cheap service but its ok and location is very easy to reach.

Ideally located incental Adana
Pros:

The Otel Mercan is tucked away down a side street in central Adana but it is a perfect location.
The showers, TV and air conditioning are first class. There is no night time noise but good restaurants are close by. The hotel breakfast is very good.
The hotel is clean, comfortable and well fitted out with spacious foyers, corridors and sitting rooms.
All the historic sites of Adana are within walking distance. The proprietor Asaf speaks excellent English and is extremely friendly and helpful.

no clean, no nice, not honest, not good
Pros:

I feel like the one positive review might be confused with a higher end hotel. I chose this hotel because it was cheap and I hadn't had a bad experience in Turkey yet. In the end, the rooms were just too dirty, the wifi didn't work well, shower leaked, breakfast was the worst I've had yet, and they overcharged me on the last day to make the whole experience "not cheap." After I accused the hotel manager of deceiving me, he conceitedly said "this is how we make our money." I was in a foreign place and in need of catching a flight so it wasn't worth fighting.

It's in the city center, but the area is not good at all. I couldn't find anything to do and most of the area is shutdown by 10pm. That could be typical in this city.

The best hotel service ever
Pros:

I feel I have to write to correct the vastly WRONG impression previous reviewers have given this excellent hotel. As a woman travelling alone, safety is important to me. The hotel staff here went out of their way to ensure I felt comfortable and safe. They provided me with a map, showed me directions, introduced me to other guests and were generally the nicest people I've met on my travels. They were not intrusive at all - everything was done with subtlety and grace. My room was well appointed, impeccably clean and had wi-fi access in the room. Breakfast was delicious. This hotel and its staff made my stay in Adana so special. I cannot recommend Otel Mercan highly enough. It is superb value for money. I met a couple who stay here for 2-3 weeks every year. How is that for a good recommendation? Thank you, Otel Mercan, for a wonderful experience in Adana!

!!Watching private life in corridors!!
Pros:

We were shocked to hear that I had to leave my friend's room because they saw me on the corridor cam monitors while leaving my room and visiting hers. They would not let a man visiting a woman's room!! (by the way, I was there because she was sick -if I need a reason). It was late at night when they phoned my friend's room (around 2 am). Indeed, they did not pay the money back although we did not pass the rest of the night there. In my opinion, visiting this hotel would mean promoting intrusive bigotry.

Bad location, poor hospitality
Pros:

We booked this hotel for one night to see Adan for a short time and to stay one night before our flight. The price was not high and it seemed at the center so we chosed Otel Mercan but we are not that happy with our choice.

First of all, they took the money before we settled to the room, which is unprofessional. Besides, the area hotel located is not very good for strangers, not encouraging for night walks. The area the hotel located is old city center and there is not much to do for tourists unless you don't have a car or prefer taxi or city buses.

The breakfast was poor. Rooms were clean.

The hotel staff is not so friendly. We wanted to leave our luggages until 3 p.m. on the day when we will check-out but they did not let us, so we put luggages to their storage. It is normal if the hotel was full but the hotel had at least 10 rooms empty, and our room was free when we come back to take our luggages from hotel.

And if you will get a taxi, don't ask for hotel to call a taxi. The taxi they call for us has fooled us and took more money then he should have for a 4 km distance and mis-behaved us at the airport. When we called the hotel for complaining and the official plate of the taxi, they were not very helpful and supportive.

If you have chance, find a hotel in the new town center.

Clean, modern and peaceful hotel in a manic city
Pros:

After a few days in relatively quiet areas of Turkey (apart from a brief stay in Konya) we hit Adana at rush hour, but then I suspect that rush hour here is between 7.00 am and midnight. The word bedlam sprang to mind and it was a relief to get to the Mercan Otel.

I am not a great fan of travel guides such as the Lonely Planet as they often are out of date and in my view give quite odd recommendations that do not seem to relate with any reasonable degree of accuracy to the places I have visited. In the case of its comments regarding this hotel and the Öz Asmaaltı restaurant (see seperate review) where we had an evening meal, however, the Lonely Planet was spot on.
Nobody could say that Adana is a tourist hotspot, that is immediately evident when you arrive at the outskirts of the city and emphasised as you get towards the centre. After a very disappointing hotel the previous evening in Silifke the Mercan was a joy (and cheaper!). Very clean, modern and very good value and with, as is usual in Turkey, helpful and friendly staff. It suited us very well for a one night stay prior to flying out from Adana airport (10 minutes away) early the next morning.
Having been to Adana once it is not high on my list of places to visit again but if I did this would be the hotel I would choose.
