The hotel is very well located and close to Kecharis Church, Tsakhkadzor ropeway. It is ok for one night if you prefer budget stay but do not expect too much. I have stayed at this hotel several times and I saw a huge difference after my previous stay (in 2017). The hotel inventory has become outdated, the beddings and towels are worn-out, even with holes in some places, the windows and the floor in the room were dirty, the toilet smelled with humidity. It is not recommended to drink the water from the tap but there are water dispensers almost in any corner. The staff is very helpful. Although I had made my booking 2 weeks before my arrival they mistakenly fixed my check-in for a later date. Fortunately before arrival I decided to recheck my booking on the phone and managed to solve the problem though after a tough conversation with the staff. In general the staff was very helpful, because of the incident with my booking they upgraded my room, they also provided help with finding a local taxi, offered to leave the luggage in the reception because they do not have luggage storage room. The breakfast offered by the hotel is very good and value for the price.
It was clean hotel with nice location next forest and river. Good stuff.
It’s fine to stay here for short period. Rooms are fine, although pretty budget and small.
The tap water is not for drink, they give you notice when handing the key, take it into account.
Many services and mentality here is soviet and obsolete. They call rooms with one wide bed as “two person room”, while it’s a clearly single.
Do not rely on breakfast, as it is stuck in soviet era and will remind you Soviet re-education facility for minors. It has enforced continental menu, your table will be served with certain things without a choice. It will include things like smetana (high-fat sour cream) and butter, also expect things buckwheat or some weird porridges. They don’t have coffee, which is in this day and age is funny, and they serve you tea instead. The tables are numbered with your room number and the badges with number visible publicly which is violation personal data law, and also simply bizarre.
Conclusion, if you want to stay close to ropeway, you want to stay one or two nights, and you are single or maximum couple, you can stay here, but buy your water, and don’t use their breakfast.
This hotel has no air conditioning. It became very hot during the night. Our room was very small. The bathroom basin plug would not lift out to allow the sink to empty. The water pipes were noisy.
The hotel has a bar and a billiard table. It ran out of red wine. It had no dry white wine in the fridge.
The food was very good.
Small but clean room with everything you could need. Precise service - new towels and slippers every day. Friendly and helpful staff. Simple but nourishing breakfast (not for vegetarians). The hotel building is located in a quiet park. Each room has a big furnished balcony.
Nice hotel close to ski lift. Good value for money paid.
This hotel is located in a calm and cool surroundings amidst the mountain ranges. It's just 15 minutes walk away from the Ropeway.
Rooms are simple and meets all the requirements. Breakfast was decent with bread, lots of cheese options, jam, tea/coffee, eggs, etc.
The only points I couldn't find was in-room safe and this hotel has no air-conditioning(since its on a mountain range and it snows in winter and average temperature in summer in about 22 degree centigrade).
If you're looking for a cheap hotel in Tsaghkadzor near the Ropeway then this is the best hotel for you. We had a one bedroom suite and the room was clean and spacious. The staff are not really good at speaking in English so it was a bit difficult to communicate with them. The breakfast is not much because is a set menu and not buffet.
Nice hotel. Clean rooms and friendly staff. We’ve had a suite on a second floor with river view and large balcony. Can’t say anything about meal but bar was a little bit poor. As for me clean bed linen is better than lack of drinks. In Tsaghkahovit Hotel bed linen was really clean.
Breakfast in this property was the worst ever that I have ever experienced. They just offer 5pcs of sausage (for 2 pax) and a couple of cold breads for our breakfast plus a coffee. And then when we asked for eggs they said its not part of the menu for that day but they can give us if we will pay for 600drams per egg. Which we agree as we are hungry already!! To make it worse, they gave a coffee sachet for 1 cup of coffee. When me and my friend asked for another sachet of coffee they said they will have to charge us again for that! No one from the breakfast area serves food. No one to help you to bring your luggages at the hotel room and definitely not recommend this hotel for winter as it is not warm inside the room. Worst hotel in Tsaghkadzor if you will visit definitely not in this hotel. And as they say its near the ski area. Definitely not. I would suggest getting a more decent hotel with shuttle to the ski place.
Tsagkhahovit: Comfortable and Cozy Hotel
In this review, I will share about my overall Armenian trip experience.
The main purpose of my trip to Armenia was to try skiing. I have read that it has good ski slopes especially for beginners, plus, it's a short flight from Dubai (about 3.5hours).
I travelled solo last February and decided to stay in this hotel for 3 nights as it is not far (about 15-20min walk) from the Tsaghkadzor ropeway. The hotel room is clean and comfortable, their breakfast is okay and the staffs speak English and they are nice and helpful. The hotel has a small bar with pool tables so it’s a good place to chill after a long cold day outside.
Since it was my first time to try skiing, I dont own ski gears and just rented them at the Ropeway of Tzagkhadzor. The thing is, most people there don’t speak English, they do however speak Russian and Armenian (so it was a disadvantage for me). The hotel staff helped me booked with one of the instructors in the ropeway which was great. I had a good ski experience over-all. Just a tip, if you dont speak their language, make sure that you know how much you have to pay for everything at the Ropeway (instructor fee, Ski gear rent, and the payment for the cable rides. Note: I also paid for the cable ride for my instructor which was questionable) as its difficult to argue when you’re there and the instructor just keeps on asking for money to pay for something and you don’t understand what he is saying. I think I have spent an equivalent of around 500 AED for my ski experience. As a consolation, the instructor was nice and a good one, and I didn't break any bones. haha
While in Tzagkhadzor, don’t miss seeingthe Kecharis monastery (it was just 30 minutes walk with few stops to take photos from my hotel).
One of the things I love about Armenia is their food. It's fresh and delicious. Try Karas Restaurant when you’re in Tzagkhadzor, Old Erivan and Genaclave Pandok in Yerevan to experience authentic Armenian food.
Since I travelled alone, I opted to join group tours which you can find in Viator or local tour agency. I booked my tours with the holiday factory representative, which was cheap. Had an amazing experience with them, our guide, Lilith is very knowledgeable.
Here are the tourist spots that I recommend: GArni, Sevan, Noravank, Geghard Monastery, and Khor Virap .
Despite the fact that most Armenians don't speak English, they are friendly people.
I had a sweet experience there and it happened when I was having dinner at Genacvale Pandok, I was the only foreigner in the restaurant at that time and the staffs gave me complimentary fruit basket and a glass of wine. I really appreciated their effort to make me feel like I belong. :)
As a female solo traveler, I felt safe wandering around alone. So, to female solo travelers out there, see and experience Armenia, you won’t regret it.
P.S. For the shopaholics, did you know that their tax refund is around 21%? Happy shopping!
Cheers,
Elaine
We recently held a conference at the hotel and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the rooms were comfortable. The lower suites have a small kitchenette and mini refrigerator.
One thing that we really liked about the hotel was the location. It is very close to the ski runs and is tucked into the mountains. There is a nice stream that runs right by it. Quiet and restful.
The staff are great honestly, small rooms but it was enough for us to sleep comfortably and well heated. The hotel gives you the sense of coziness and its close to the Ropeway. it is a walking distance to restaurants and spa.
We visited this December, which means it is low season at this area. The temperature is -16degrees and eventhough it is freezing cold outside, the staff welcomed us warmly.
Hotel is very basic but clean. No elevators but the stairways are easily manageable and not steep. The rooms are fairly sized, with balcony, although you can hear the conversations from the neighboring rooms, especially if they stay at the balcony.
Tsaghkadzor Ropeway is just 10min walk uphill from the hotel; the sites and main commercial area (bank, grocery, museums, historic sites) is just 15min walk from hotel as well.
The staff of this hotel were the reason our stay was worth it. Ladies were kind enough to assist us in calling taxis (speaking in their local language) and deliveries since restaurant is closed past dinner time. One staff even go a long way in heating our food (soup & bread) because it was delivered frozen! :-)
Next time we plan to visit on summer, to see the other color and environment of Tsaghkadzor and will stay at this same hotel once again.
The water is not drinkable. Conditions are very bad. Disappointed. The rooms are very small, though it's family room, walls are dirty.

We stayed here last March 2016. Good location and very near to Tsaghkadzor Ropeway-Ski resort.. Kecharis Monastery is also a walking distance.
The hotel is simple, everything is clean.
Breakfast is very very simple, sometime sausages, bread, cheese and sometimes egg omelet., with coffee or tea of your choice.
They can arrange transfers for you.
I have been in many hotels in Tsaghkadzor. This hotel is worth it's price. Rooms are very clean and comfy. You feel warm in the rooms as in your own house. The staff is very good. I was on December and there were not too much people so there was no noice. And one of the best things is wide balcony. Also the place is very good from outside. Like. Want to be there more.
The location of the hotel is just a short walk to the ski resort. The room is spacious but not really on a high standards. They don't have a wooden door in the rooms, instead it is like a washroom door. You can hear people walking outside your room and the toilet bowl has stains. They have good staffs but the only issue was they don't speak English. They only speak Armenian and Russian I guess which was very difficult for us to ask questions, explain and interact. Breakfast was very limited and was just a set bread, cold cut, butter, yogurt, egg and coffee. Internet as well was very weak and we were having difficulties connecting it during our 1 night stay.
