Location is excellent and the hotel is lovely. The facilities were very good for a 3*. The room was comfortable and spacious with everything we needed. Could benefit from a little update and revamp - furniture is fine but for a more luxury feel better quality pieces would give it a more high end look.
The breakfast room decor and ambience was bland.
Comfortable beds, great location with stunning views . Kids loved the pool
Friendly staff, nice sitting area for relaxing, good location
We specifically wanted a hotel which was dog friendly and the Windermere Manor certainly was, but our room smelled of dog rather more than we'd have liked. Also the dinner experience was ok but not great (we should add that the breakfast and lunch experiences were good)
Very good location between Ambleside and Bowness
Very dated and had a smell of old people’s home about it. Bed was very uncomfortable, you could feel the springs in the mattress and no care taken in making the beds. Towels smelt of frying. Carpets not hoovered well and lots of dust around. Noise from the room above was unbearable and prevented sleep, sounded like a child was jumping off the beds constantly and the ceiling was shaking with the bangs.
The landscape and environment
Absolutely nothing everything was perfect
It had a pool and a nice view of the lake
It was not as close to the lake as we were expecting, the room was very disappointing - it was very plain, the bathroom needed updating and had various damage, the room was exceptionally hot and smelt of fried food.
Bel endroit reposant un peu de marche pour arriver au centre. Juste un peu de fraîcheur dans la chambre de la peinture et déco mais le bâtiment est vraiment beau le personnel agréable prêt à vous aider de passage nous étions ravis
Nice old hotel, with enjoyable pool, good breakfast in a great location.
very little
we had a horrendous night in our rooms - rooms 22 and 19 on the night of 25th July to the point that I would consider the heat in the room to be dangerous. None of us slept at all because the heat in the rooms was between 33-35 degrees centigrade and the night of the 25th ruined our trip climbing Helvellen. We were not the only ones and heard other guests in the morning complaining about overhot rooms. The staff were well aware of this issue of overheating. i have only ever experienced this heat in Mumbai about 40 years ago in a hotel which cost £1 per night.
The food which was very overpriced was like hospital food. Poor quality and the property smells poorly.
The general manager responded to my complaint in an email by disregarding ALL my comments and stating that everything i had stated was untrue. Appalling lack of responsibility. I am a doctor and I am well aware of the correctness of my statements.
Absolutely fantastic stay! The accommodation was spotless, comfortable, and beautifully presented in a stunning location. Everything exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend, and we would definitely stay here again!

Well kept and clean
Nothing
Staff were really helpful, Hotel was gracefully aged, spotlessly clean and a delight to stay in. The food was delicious and menu changed each day. We will be going back.
Nothing.
