I had high expectations for Hotel Aquarius, given that it is advertised as a four-star property. Unfortunately, my experience has been deeply disappointing and quite concerning.
The main issue is the complete lack of proper security measures. There are no multiple levels of protection—anyone can simply access the guest room floors, as the only safeguard is the individual room door requiring a keycard. This is especially troubling given that the hotel explicitly states it is not responsible for any losses unless items are stored in the safe.
This issue became even more alarming today (October 17th) when there was an event hosted at the hotel. Some attendees wandered up to our floor and began chatting and drinking right outside our door. It was extremely uncomfortable and felt like a complete invasion of privacy—opening the door exposed our room and belongings directly to strangers.
I immediately called reception, but it took a surprisingly long time for the situation to be addressed, and when it finally was, I did not feel that the staff took the issue seriously or offered any sincere apology.
I have stayed in countless hotels around the world, and I have never encountered anything like this before. It is unacceptable for a hotel of this supposed standard to have such lax security and such a dismissive response to a safety concern.
I truly hope Hotel Aquarius takes this matter seriously and provides an explanation and reassurance that steps will be taken to prevent this from happening again.
Beautiful quaint hotel in a quiet square in Santa Croce. The entire staff was very kind and helpful. We loved our roon with wood beam ceiling and exposed brick on two walls. The breakfast spread was wonderful. Location was perfect within 10min walk of the train station, ample food options within a 5min walk and. The square was relatively peaceful.
1 tip though, if you want more peaceful stay I recommend requesting a room at the back of the hotel.
excellent choice, the hotel looks like brand new, convenient location at a beautiful plazza, staff is super nice
grest food
Property itself is nice for Venice. Expensive compared to most cities for what you get but is expected for the location. My biggest issues were regarding the staff and service. Our train was delayed and arrived late. The front desk person was very cold and rude. I asked if I could purchase a bottle of water somewhere and he just said no. You don’t have a way for a guest to get a bottle of water after a long day traveling? On our way home we got a water taxi because it was raining. I asked multiple times to make sure they take card because I didn’t have much cash on me. Of course the water taxi guy says his card machine doesn’t work when we get to the station. Venice is a beautiful place but just be prepared to get scammed anywhere you go.
What a gorgeous & brilliantly decorated hotel! The art collections on display at reception in hallways, stairways & lounges (breakfast & reading room) are tastefully curated. The bar is well-stocked and its interiors are smart and refined with multiple liquid screens. The bar-maestro is knowledgable and friendly. Reception staff members are informative and courteous.
Many thanks to the breakfast team: Manuela and Michelle - they are the BEST part of Aquarius and so very kind, polite, helpful and charming. These two ladies are fast on their feet and Michelle has the best smile that will brighten anyone's day.
We had a wonderful room that overlooks the campo and enjoyed watching locals passing their times and their children playing about from morning till early evening. One night, there was a milonga put together by locals with slow and fast tango music for couples to dance away and spectators watching and cheering on the sides.
As of this writing, we are on the fourth day of our 5-night stay and truly enjoying this hotel and appreciating the staff, especially the amazing breakfast ladies, Manuela and Michelle! The breakfast (hot & cold offerings and pastries & fruits) cater to various eating preferences.

Very good
What am amazing property! We loved our stay and the hospitality was superb. All staff were happy to help us find transportation and excursions that we wanted to do.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
From the moment we arrived, Hotel Aquarium exceeded all expectations. The lobby alone is breathtaking, with an exotic chandelier and a stunning fish tank that sets the perfect atmosphere for an unforgettable stay.
At check-in, we were greeted by a front desk lady who looked like Miss Universe—absolutely elegant and welcoming, even more charming than Miss USA herself! She not only made us feel at home but also helped arrange our airport transfers. To make things even better, she organized a private boat ride around the island, which turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip.
Breakfast on the balcony was the cherry on top—delicious food with a view that’s nothing short of magical. At checkout, the General Manager himself was so kind and gentlemanly, even assisting us with our luggage all the way to the boat. That level of service is rare and unforgettable.
The hotel gardens are another hidden gem—lush, peaceful, and unique for Venezia. They even have elevators (a huge plus in Venice!). The rooms are spotless, thoughtfully decorated, and filled with beautiful details that make you feel truly special.
This is hands down my favorite place to stay in Venezia. I can’t wait to come back soon. Highly recommend Hotel Aquarium for anyone seeking a truly memorable and luxurious Venetian experience!
This is a wonderful hotel. Our room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. The staff were excellent - friendly, helpful and polite. Breakfast was good with a great range of food. The location is excellent with good restaurants within seconds of the hotel and the room was very quiet to outside noise. I would happily stay here again and recommend to others however I would not stay in room 101 again. It is located very close to reception so you can hear check in/check out noise and phones ringing. It is also located below the breakfast/events room so prone to a lot of foot steps above and chair scraping/tables moving. If you pick another room you are in for a perfect stay.
Definetly a great hotel, great staff, great location, you cannot go wrong staying there.
Everything wonderful but elevator.
Loved our stay, suite was very clean & walking distance from everything! We even got to see ppl ball room dancing right outside in the courtyard! Plus storing luggage was great service offered! Wonderful time, would definitely come back!
Thank you!!
I asked for VIP privileges which was drink and end up getting charged for ☹️
This hotel is absolutely gorgeous. Staff is friendly and helpful. The location can't be beat. Its within easy walking distance of everything you want to see and do in Venice as well as being a 5 minute walk from the water bus to the airport.
The rooms were clean and beautifully appointed. This has been, by far, one of my favorite hotel stays.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Venice.
We enjoyed our stay.
Great hotel with amazing staff. The property is modern, the rooms are very spacious, and the overall conditions are even better than what the photos show. The lobby staff is fantastic, very attentive and welcoming. Highly recommend this hotel!
Staff is very professional. Breakfast service is excellent. The hotel is very clean and comfortable.
I think my son and I were assigned to the smallest, uncomfortable room the hotel has. Despite the small size, the air conditioner couldn't keep up, and the swampy smell wasn't appealing.
I had to dig through over 100 of property photos to see the room we had. So it's not a selling point, I imagine. I think it's because I booked through a website instead of directly, but when booking a trip, I'm not sure I think there should be such a big penalty.
On top of that, I ended up leaving a brand new pair of capri pants in the room. I put them in the closet because there was no real place to store anything so I wasn't tripping over stuff.
I called the next day, and the pants were found! They promised to get back to me with details about sending them. Despite following up by email...they just didn't. Everything about our stay felt like we were an afterthought.
Very nice hotel at an excellent location in Venice. The hotel is located at a cozy quiet square with a small supermarket, some restaurants, close to a bakery and ice cream shop. But within walking distance from the vibrant city center and the tourist attractions. The hotel itself is very nice, kind employees and a very good airconditioning system. Good breakfast too and a (small) gym for some excercising. Very recommended!
Un hotel espectacular, con muy buen servicio al cliente
