Book your stay at Verzon House for a memorable experience in Ledbury!
Remote location without staff to welcome, no other guests staying, self check in offered, no food available after a long journey and no pubs etc nearby. Did not stay since it felt so in inviting. Pity because somebody made an attempt with a welcome letter. The room was hard to access and just because the rest of the hotel was empty felt rather odd. So we drove the rest of the 100 miles home somewhat let down.
Better explanation of what we would expect to find. A warning that the place was empty so we could cancel.

Soft bed, room too hot, shower poor
Impressive property and gardens.
Quality decor
No one to greet us, building locked up, keys to room left in porch!
No response to request for dinner booking, for Husbands 77th Birthday, found out on arrival, no restaurant or bar, not as the pics on b.com
I rang persistently during day to query, answer machine said they were serving in the restaurant!
No reply to our request for step in shower and were given an over bath shower, even though not all rooms were booked!
Managed to get hold of the owner eventually to ask for suggestion for a dinner venue, to be told ‘there are lots of places in Ledbury, a few miles down the road’.
I assume it was the owner who appeared at breakfast, with appalling communication skills, no explanation for the dining situation the night before.
The garden looked like there had been a recent function, not cleared up!
Such a shame, not what we had expected, nor paid for.
We would have booked elsewhere with a restaurant on site, without a drive out to a special dinner!
The bar and ? Dining room were locked and locked off!
The facilities such as bar and breakfast were unavailable as the venue was preoccupied, as were the owners, with a prospective forthcoming wedding booking. We were subsequently the only guests in the hotel.
As an explanation it was deemed 'cheaper' by the hostess becasue of this !!..When booking with BOOKING .com we were not made aware of the circumstances nor its apparent amended price !
We booked room only and the room was lovely, the bed was comfy and the bathroom large and clean. The fresh milk in the room was a nice touch. Peaceful location with a lovely view.
No staff onsite when we arrived or left (a leaflet said a night porter would be onsite). The reception, restaurant and bar were all locked and we couldn’t get to them or have any drinks. We turned up at 6.10pm so not late. Dirty glasses and plates in garden (suspected from a wedding 5 days earlier).
Location, garden and decor.
No staff present. No bar or dining facilities in spite of information to the contrary on the website. Very rural location so we had to drive to the nearest town to eat which we had not expected. Fridge in bedroom contained only a bottle of water, no mini bar or honesty bar to have a refreshing drink. We contacted the owner but have received no acknowledgment. It was extremely disappointing. Much to be learned about customer care and giving accurate information.
Lovely
No interaction with any staff. However the stay was comfortable, loved my room and watching the sunrise from my window the next morning
The property, room and gardens were lovely.
There was no staff, no access to communal areas, no breakfast and no indication when booking that this was an unmanned property with no food and beverage. As it is 3 miles from the nearest town, this should have been abundantly clear.
Lovely setting and views. Great bathroom. Friendly staff when we managed to speak to them.
Was never able to get hold of anyone when trying to phone. Fridge in the room was very loud - ended up having to switch it off in order to get some sleep. Would have been good to have a cooked breakfast option.
We had a really spacious lovely room with a gorgeous view. Superb bathroom and very clean.
No breakfast available. We hadn't paid for it but were told we could have a continental breakfast but no-one around.
It was very welcoming and cosy
I paid for breakfast but there was no breakfast as the restaurant and bar have closed without announcing anything. This is very poor. Place was great last year but has massively gone down hill.
Breakfast, bar, service
This is second time we’ve stayed at Vernon house, the room, building, grounds, location and (albeit drastically reduced) staff are excellent.
Things have changed at Vernon house, I’m not sure if people have stopped going because it’s changed or it’s changed because people have stopped going, but it’s changed. Our first time staying it was a warm welcoming building with a bustling bar and restaurant with a real quirky country house atmosphere. This atmosphere is now sadly entirely gone. The restaurant and bar seem pretty much closed (they’ll pour you a pint but you won’t want to stay for a second).
Breakfast was perfect! Continental but order a lovely breakfast off the menu in addition.

The breakfast and evening meals were delicious and enjoyed by both of us. The room was spacious and the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was well-designed and the walk-in shower was brilliant. The staff were all very friendly and amenable. There were lots of niceties that we appreciated like the fresh flowers everywhere and reed diffusers. We felt that everything had been thought of to make our stay welcoming. Great parking available.
Nothing.
Beautiful property, lovely location close to Ledbury and Hereford. Very generous breakfast. Good choice in the restaurant. Friendly service.
Easy parking.
Comfortable bedroom, fluffy towels.
