We had the opportunity to try the bar where we stopped for dinner while passing through.
The interior is very warm, making guests feel at home.
The staff is very friendly, making you want to return again.
All the dishes were very tasty, hot, and fresh.
Many thanks to the chef for the delicious meals and to the staff, who take great care of their guests down to the smallest detail.
I highly recommend this bar's excellent cuisine.
If we're ever in the area, we'll definitely use your services again.
Thank you!

Liked the decor, room was comfy but snug, bed was comfotable. only downside was no breakfast served so had to travel to nearest garden centre for breakfast hense 4 stars.

Bar staff showed you to your room and no clear instruction for fire drill etc given
No parking had to park in nearby supermarket
Excellent food. Comfortable bed. Staff excellent.
We have just spent 4 days at the Drapers. When we got in to our room, we found the shampoo, shower gel, and hand soap were left overs from other patrons. When we asked for new ones they didnt have any and gave us other half used bottles. They didn’t clean the room the entire time we were there. They don’t do house keeping for short stays, and or it seems 4 days is a short stay. Even when we put a request on the door to have the room cleaned, and wanted fresh towels, nothing was done. Never saw a soul.
The room did not seem that clean and although there is a fridge, it is switched off with someone else old beer cans in it. There is never anyone around to ask and the front bar on the street which is quite nice is mostly locked, and never open. The back bar is uninviting with a few young people hanging around. Difficult to get hot water for a shower and sometimes the toilet did not flush, it seemed that there was no water in the system, and I had to use the bin bucket to pour water down the toilet. To top it all you had to walk around a rubbish truck to get in to the door to the accommodation.
No parking due to a opened back tranist full of rubbish bocking car park for two days also they have reduced there car park to only 6 parking space
Review of restaurant only.
Absolutely horrendous service - booked a table for 6 people for a roast dinner and was told at the time of booking that if the weather was hot then there would be an alternative to a roast dinner. We turned up for our reservation, the restaurant was deserted and the waitress listed off half the menu as unavailable (no pizzas, no tapas, only seemed to be burgers available) and that they were not doing roasts - it was 16 degrees and raining torrentially. Waitress was rude and went back to chatting to her friend behind the bar almost immediately.
We walked out of the restaurant about 5 minutes after walking in.
Food only. Explained there was a red and green pepper ( Capsicum ) allergy so really disappointed when the salad arrived with red green and yellow peppers on.
This was changed for a different one but then told one of the tortillas also had peppers in .
This was returned but no replacement sent until we had to remind the waitress.
Calamari's far too spicy (chilli in batter). Pork skewers far too spicy , aioli had chilli flakes sprinkled on top. Prawns far too spicy and not advertised as having chorizo in.
Even the salad was fiery.
We've eaten lots of Spanish food but can't ever recall this much spice being used.
After last years Sunday lunch review which was great this was so so disappointing .
Will not be returning or recommending.

Limited parking, no breakfast at property
Firstly the positives. Nice big room mostly clean though a lot of cobwebs on the beams and the wallpaper needs replacing very comfortable bed and lovely bathroom with large shower. Well equipped lots of tea and coffee it even had a fridge with wasn’t plugged in so unsure it it worked. I noticed an ironing board outside the room and presumed it was for use of the guests
Now a couple of negatives. As a solo traveller there was no discount for a single person. All the rooms were doubles or twins but price was based on two adults. Yes I was given a large room but the price at £97.50 with no breakfast for essentially a village pub I thought was quite steep. Secondly. You expect a bit of noise being a pub but the hotel was not busy in fact I didn’t see any other guest so I would think that choosing to put me on the side of the car park where people were outside drinking till 1.30am was not the best. I have stayed before and the rooms facing the other way are not as noisy. So my advice would be. If you want sleep I’d suggest getting it between 2 am and checkout. Having said all that I was still happy with my stay
Very comfortable room very clean and also friendly staff would stay again
Parking is none existent. 5 spaces at pub. Public parking 800yrds away. Not ideal.
We booked for a large party, we felt we weren’t accommodated at all with two tables pushed together at completely different heights which made eating dinner together very awkward.
The table was not ready upon arriving despite knowing we would be coming, booked 3/4 weeks in advance
We had a Sunday roast, the food was lovely although cold considering we pre ordered and waited 45 minutes from sit down.
We were sitting on top of each other and felt they couldn’t accommodate such a large table.
Vegetables and cauliflower cheese were placed on the table directly over the 14 month old, placed a few inches from her. With the warning it’s Really Hot.
The staff was not very welcoming, would not rush back especially for a large party. Was quite disappointed.
Sunday lunch with friends. First visit.
Excellent value. I had the rib of beef and my Husband the Gammon.
Lemon Roulade for dessert - home made and delicious.
Great atmosphere. Vast selection of beers. Staff friendly and personable.
Establishment inviting.
Highly recommend.
Wes and the team put on a fantastic French themed night with wine matched to food by the very knowledgeable Steve.
French food has not always floated my boat or it didn’t until last night. We started with the best French onion soup I have ever had, muscles to follow which I could not eat due to an allergy but the mushroom alternative was fantastic.
Main was beef bourguignon with the most amazing Dauphinoise potato’s, Wes these must become a staple on your menu.
The cheese board wrapped up an amazing night of food and a wine education.
Definitely the best food in Earls Colne I would definitely recommend a visit Wes and the team do this really well.
Unusual and quirky room.Decorated really well.Above a pub but quiet. Only quibble, no one around when checking out as pub closed at 10 am.No instructions where to leave the keys.Had to leave them in the door lock.
Great room, loved the décor, bed comfortable and great value for money. Ease of registering, staff friendly and polite. My room had a fridge, which is so helpful. Despite and event on below my room, I heard nothing, really quiet. I booked due to location for my work, will definitely be booking again.
Only downside: parking, due to working late, the car park was busy twice, the first night a customer in the bar offered to move her car and the second evening the owner moved their car for me to park - as I said amazing venue. I believe if you arrived at a normal work time, this would not be an issue.
