Check-in was very difficult. First, there was no indication when I got to the address listed, that this hotel exists. The address on Expedia also needs to include that ‘Reception’ is on the 5th floor, Rm. 512.
It would also be very helpful if the Expedia website could show the hotel’s Chinese name and address in Chinese characters.
I finally found Reception after someone was kind enough to phone the number listed.
Once at Reception, basically a storage/break room with a computer, the employee could not find my reservation, even after phoning her boss. I showed her my Expedia printout that I had booked and paid, but they said (though her translating app) they could not find my reservation and I needed to pay the full amount. I insisted (through the translate app) that I’d already paid Expedia.
After about 30 min of this, they must have eventually found my reservation and payment. The boss’s aunt was called to clean the room. I was asked to make a 100 Yuan deposit which was refunded the next morning.
I got one of their prettier rooms, with a few steps leading up to a seating area and windows. Don’t expect a lot of toiletries or a soft mattress. Overall, I did like the room and location, a convenient short walk to the Bund.
Reasonably comfortable for the price and very close to the bund. Hotel starts on the 12th floor which added a level of confusion when trying to find it Great view from our room in the fifteenth floor across to the bund.
First impression while in the office, no reception area, was poor but rooms turned out to be clean and comfortable for the money. All in all a pleasant experience and stay.
