Crystal Resort Dickwella

Killer location, and a perfectly nice, if basic, hotel right on Dikwella Beach. Clean, comfortable, and unfussy rooms, most with views of the ocean, which is just across the street. Not much in the way of a restaurant, but plenty of local options right on its doorstep. Lovely pool. Nice staff, if a little absentee. So-so WiFi.

L'horreur a fuir. NUL😡😡. Cela fait 35 ans que je dors a l'hôtel pour le travail, et là c'est le pire.. Hôtel a l'abandon, aucun entretien. Nous avons eu un invasion de fourmis dans la SDB et dans le lit, odeur d'égout très fortes dans la SDB. Normal la pipe du WC fuit, il y a de l'eau qui sort de la pipe du WC. Quelques réparations on été faites au silicone autour de la pipe en plastique, et encore du silicone. Maintenant odeur d'égout+ odeur de silicone + odeur de désinfectant a fourmis, super pour dormir 😠 Des rous partout dans le carrelage, sale. Nous avons trouvé en rentrant dans la chambre des insectes morts un peu partout, ils sont venus nettoyer.. Les commums sont pitoyables, sales, des toiles d'araignées, toute est abîmé, vétusté. Personnes n'ose petit déjeuner ou manger a la salle principale. Mon drap Etat tâche de sang (mais propre). C'est serviettes de piscine sont tâches. Les transats en bois délabrés, cassés sans cousins. Seul point positif, la piscine en bon état et l'emplacement en face de la superbe plage avec des paillotes sympas pour le petit déjeuner, et pas loin a pied de la plage de Kiriketiya. Cela mériterait un remboursement sur les 3 nuits passées. A FUIR. Dommage car l'hôtel pourrait être super si il était entretenu..😠😠

Hotellet är inte så som det ser ut på bilder. Det är nedgånget och slitet. Det var fullt med insikter på rummet, kröp myror i sängen. Vi sa till och önskade ett nytt rum eller pengarna tillbaka. Kollade på ett nytt rum och där var det kackerlackor i badrummet. Vi checkade ut efter första natten av tre bokade, fick ingen återbetalning. Poolen är ok men solsängarna är slitna och det finns ingen dyna att ligga på. Det står skyltar överallt om att hotellet inte ansvarar för stöld av värdesaker vid städning av rummet, de ansvarar ej för missfärgning av kläder som lämnats till tvätt, du ska betala om något går sönder etc. Bara väldigt speciellt och kändes väldigt otryggt.

Appalling service from staff. I confirmed that I wished to stay another night and was told the price and it was no problem. I tried to pay but was told to pay at checkout. Then in the morning they refused this saying as I had not paid yet they did not need to honour this. Ants all through the room and dirty sheets!

Nice pool and front property area with balcony / ocean view rooms. A bit antiquated however excellent family style service.

Great location with a beautiful view and lovely swimming beach across the road from the resort. Highly recommended the upgrade to the superior suite.

This hotel has a lot going for it but under current management it definitely won’t succeed.
The manager just walks around, never actually doing anything & if asked something never really knew the answer
It has a lovely looking bathroom but the water pressure is so bad it took almost an hour to half full the bath......then I gave up.
They advertise a “mini bar” there’s NO mini bar, there is a small fridge & tea & coffee making facilities. Actually I don’t recall the restaurant being licensed either.
The $6USD breakfast ( that you have to order on checkin) is a joke, 3 tiny chipolatas, 3 potato wedges, 2 small tomato slices, eggs didn’t even half full the plate. Did get toast & fruit but it’s an absolute rip off.
The pool closes at 7pm, there is a beach opposite which you can swim at all day but at dark ( when it’s still 30 plus degrees) you can only look at the pool because it’s closed.
The beach is right out the front of the hotel it’s a nice beach but there is a dirty, smelly patch of water on the sand ( drain?) that you have to walk past.
There are sun loungers on the beach outside the hotel ( but aren’t operated by the hotel) so you have to pay to use them) a hotel in this price range should provide them.
The internet is appalling, it took almost 3 hours on our arrival to get a connection & that kept dropping out.
Our entire stay was a complete disappointment.
After one night we walked 500m or so down the beach where we luckily found the “Madu Friendly Villa “

This hotel was perfectly located for our little family. Our pleasant room looked out over the swimming pool and across the dirt track to the beautiful beach at Dickwella. It was just a 1km walk from the stunning Hiriketiya beach where we spent much of our holiday learning to surf and chilling out. It's a short stroll into Dickwella and a little wander along the beach or through town brings you to the bustling Saturday market which we loved. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly - our 8-year-old loved them - every one of them made him feel like a VERY important guest. He also loved spotting ghekos and lizards in the hotel gardens, fruit bats at night and water monitor lizards on the beach. We went for room only, and found the hotel food was cheap and cheerful - we would have liked more authentic Sri Lankan options on the menu, but there is a wealth of amazing restaurants within walking distance in Hiriketiya. The hotel staff were happy to provide competitive rates for day trips and provide a driver at reasonable rates too. One slight downside is there was no bar on site, but again, the staff were so helpful and more than happy to nip up the road to buy in for us. Overall a brilliantly-located, small and friendly hotel with fantastic sea views and attentive staff.

Fantastic new hotel with stunning views. The rooms are great, and have everything you need. The only small thing would have been a bit more cleaning of the room and bathroom and checking of things like toilet paper etc rather than keep having to ask for it. The pool area is lovely and we suggested to the owners to maybe get some cushions for the sunbeds. The food had only just started as we were leaving the hotel but what we did have was nice and as always here you get good service with a smile.
The beach is gorgeous and there are shops and restaurants all within walking distance. We would definitely stay here again if ever back in the area.

This a really lovely hotel. We booked for 3 night's but stayed for 7!!!

The service was amazing and the hotel is right on the beach. It is down a quiet lane way off the main road which helps with a relaxing atmosphere.
For the price it is a great alternative to other expensive places around Dikwella.
The rooms are really nice and new and all balconies face the ocean.
