The hotel is literally at the edge of the rainforest. It provides magnificent views from the rooms, the ambience is brilliant and it's a very good location for visiting the Sinharaja. Very easily accessible by vehicle too (the roads are good). Rooms (including bathroom) are very spacious and comfortable.
While the room we had was nice and had all amenities, I expected better for the price that we paid to stay here. The first night we had dinner, which was a buffet, and there was not enough food for all the tourists present. While there was enough for breakfast, I've had much better breakfasts at homestays where I paid a fraction of the price. The room we stayed in was pretty new, and the balcony door didn't seal properly. All sorts of insects came in as soon as switched on some light in the evening, including a 10cm spider, a frog in the bathroom, moths and (the worst) leeches - we suffered a bite while in bed. I feel this could have been avoided if the balcony door sealed shut properly. There was construction going on during our stay, and if you simply looked down from the balcony, you can also see a lot of construction rubbish literally dumped into the rainforest. Sadly I can't recommend this place as for the price you pay for this, I recommend looking for an alternative.
We stayed in Birds Paradise Hotel for three nights and birding around Sinharaja. The staff are very friendly and always helpful to our needs. And I was satisfied with the breakfast and dinners in the hotel which comforted me whenever I needed. Highly recommend!
The staff was friendly.
The shower facilities were poor.
We enjoyed our stay so much. The quietness, the nature, the view on the mountain from balcony. Super nice staff. We walked from hotel 2 km to sinharaya rainforest unesco heritage entrance. We were mesmerized by the nature in the rainforest and the surrounding. The hotel is a Super place.
Good location close to Park Entrance. Staff especially Tanaka very helpful! Bird watching on balcony was pleasant. Sri Lankan curries very tasty.
The under sheet was too small for the bed. Some dirty marks and mould in the room. Felt it was a bit overpriced for our room. Internet was occasionally ok but often non existent which made it hard for organising our onward journey.
This small lodge is a great base for bird and nature lovers. It is about 2km from the entrance of the world famous Singaraja Rain Forrest. You can even see the endemic famous Sri Lanka Blue Magpie in the early morning on the hotel grounds. We enjoyed the food. The owner can arrange a guide for the birding tour. We loved the tour with the guide.
