Chidambara Vilas - A Luxury Heritage Resort

Une belle immersion dans un ancien Palais qui reste bien dans son jus et qui pour le coup vaut vraiment que l'expérience soit vécue malgré les points suivants :
Il est plus que nécessaire d'investir dans la maintenance des lieux même avec un simple coût de peinture.
La nourriture sans être mauvaise n'est pas à la hauteur des lieux : le petit-déjeuner est vraiment trop orienté vers la cuisine locale et ne propose donc que très peu de variétés. De même pour les repas dont les produits comme tres souvent ici baignent dans le gras. Une fois de temps en temps pourquoi pas mais le manque de diversité n'est pas conforme à ce qui pourrait être attendu des lieux. Bon après, s'il ne s'agit que d'un séjour d'une ou 2 nuits ...
Les matelas sur les transats sont là carrément indignes des lieux !! Et le personnel est quasi absent (il a fallu demander des serviettes à la réception !). La piscine n'en demeure pas moins agréable mais ne serait-ce pas le minimum attendu ?
En clair, les photos laissent rêveur (à ce sujet, impossible bien évidemment à hauteur d'homme d'en apprécier la réalité même s'il est possible en se baladant un peu d'en avoir un aperçu) mais il ne faut pas non plus trop en attendre au risque d'être déçu même si l'expérience vaut le coup malgré tout

Impeccably renovated century old mansion . Perfect for a relaxing holiday . Lounge in plantation chairs listening to the birds , take a nap , read a book. Place has timings for mansion tour , cooking class, high tea, morning village walk, bicycle trip. Close by are beautiful Shiva temples , Thirumayam fort , aathangudi tile factory, handlooms fir chettinad cotton … loved the ambiance. Would recommend to my friends and family .

Our stay at Chidambara Vilas was truly exceptional! The property is a perfect blend of heritage and luxury, offering a glimpse into the Chettinad culture with its beautifully preserved architecture. The rooms were immaculately clean, and the attention to detail in the décor was remarkable.

The staff were incredibly courteous, attentive, and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The serene ambiance, coupled with top-notch facilities, made for a pleasant and memorable experience.

Being considered very expensive property with classic vintage look, every small work that is helped is expected for gratuity (tip). Even a Rs 500 tip is sometimes considered quite low.

Nice reception from check in. They gave us history of the place. Helped my wife all the way to room. Food was excellent and served with affection chettinad style. Nice pool area. Friendly staff and overall enjoyed our short stay.

Well maintained Heritage property with good service

A real gem. The mix between luxury and the Chettinad style just works beautifully. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, and the staff made us feel like royalty. Take a detour if you need to, in order to experience this place. My only regret is that I forgot my swimsuit, and the pool itself was stunning.

This is a beautifully restored old home and it was an absolutely lovely experience staying there. In fact, my husband and I liked it so much, we flew in our families to join us as well. The entire property is has been restored with such innovativeness and stays true to the heritage of the place. The staff were phenomenal and friendly and made us feel entirely at home. The food was marvellous as well.

The property is an absolutely lovely old house which has been restored with great care and innovation. I say house, but it has over 68 rooms and the building alone covers an acre of land. Apart the stunning interiors, what truly made the stay memorable was the staff and the way they made us feel at home. My husband and I liked the place so much, we flew in our families to stay as well. The food was some of the best authentic chettinad cuisine I have had.
