It is the most fabulous place a little bit of heaven in the most beautiful place everything about it is just perfect the staff are helpful and friendly it’s luxury and comfort are just amazing
We had dinner and were just having some after dinner wine when we were asked to vacate the table for two people who wanted to eat. Unfortunately they didn’t order any food and just sat drinking a few pints for the evening. Not a nice way to be treated by hotel staff
This is a historic hotel with good size rooms and an amazing view of the harbour. Lots of history here, very good dining room with excellent food and service. The bar was friendly and service very good. The whole island was very interesting and there were many wonderful views of the hills and ocean. Many interesting shops here.
We had a wonderful stay at the Royal Valentia, to include dinner. A great stay with water view and a terrific meal in the restaurant. The lamb shank and hake were perfectly done. Great bar environment. Staff is terrific. Highly recommend a stay.
To be honest, the Royal Valentia leaves a lot to be desired. I don't know whether it was because we visited off season (October) but we were most definitely underwhelmed. We thought the hotel was grubby, the welcome at reception was poor (robotic), our room was dirty (corners not vacumned, cold tap ran hot, shower head needs replacing), the restaurant food was, at best, bar food quality, the restaurant service was poor (including forgetting part of our order). The breakfast was better, but again the staff were cold and uninterested. Overall, underwhelming and very very poor value for money.
Quaint hotel with nice view of the water. Close to our excursion at Skellig Michael the next morning. Quick breakfast and they opened early for us due to our early departure. Room was clean, bathroom layout was a little tight with door hitting the toilet.
Great location , but a very over priced hotel trading on past glory.
A long established premises with a diverse range of accommodation. Our room was a little dated but more than sufficed for one night. Breakfast was excellent with great service.
Good location,on the water
Loved staying there. Beautiful hotel. Lovely view. Easy check in, parking in front of hotel was free.
Beautiful old building, very clean and a friendly staff.
Very enjoyable stay in an historic hotel. Wonderful location, beside the pier where the ferry arrives. Cosmopolitan, with guests from different countries.
As a family spent every summer in this area, hidden gem of Kerry, loads to do and see. Royal Hotel in fabulous location, lovely views from the hotel. Hotel is full of history, beautifully maintained, staff very helpful and friendly. Great choice for breakfast.
Great lunch and dinner menu. Lovely to have tea and coffee option in room. For those who know the area huge advantage to head off for the day snd have evening meal booked on return. Second time staying will be back.
We stopped off here to have some food. It was one of the worst hotels, sticky tables not cleaned. No customer service. The staff looked absolutely miserable and made sure not to make eye contact.
We sat at a table, and there was a smell of urine. The food was appallingly bad. The whole experience felt like we were back in the dark ages. Spend your money somewhere else. Will most definitely not be back.
Amazing location and great breakfast.
This is a lovely hotel on Valentia Island. It is slightly old-fashioned and all the better for that. The room we stayed in was large with comfortable beds. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had dinner on the second evening and it was really good. The early sitting was a little noisy as we were there during school holidays.
Despite the fact that they advertise all rooms as being air-conditioned, we found out that this is not the case. The first room we were put in was not air-conditioned and when we went down and asked if another room was available, we were treated very rudely by the woman at the desk. She told us that an air conditioned room is a special request and we did not ask for that. After hauling all of our bags back down the staircase (there are no elevators), we were sent to another room where we had to haul all of our bags back up another staircase. At no time did any staff member offer to help with our baggage or apologize for the misunderstanding that they created. When it came time to check out they tried to bill me a second time for the room that had already been paid for on Expedia as well as the previous night's dinner that had been paid for at the table. We would not stay in this hotel again.
This hotel is in an amazing location on the Island of Valentia. The hotel is full of character and history. The staff here are fantastic and were very welcoming and nothing was a problem, they were always looking to help and ensured that we had everything we needed. The manager Guy really makes the place, he told us he has a great team of people and he also made it his business to chat with us along with other guests in the hotel, a real touch of class. Breakfast was really nice and a great selection was available for any fussy eaters. We ate in the hotel one of the nights and the food was fab, it is the best fish and chips I have ever had anywhere. Finally, great staff, location, food and great value for money which is hard to find anymore in Ireland. Well done Royal Hotel Valentia
Absolutely gorgeous island! Property was very nice as was the staff.
