Perfect for turtle viewing
Pros:

If you're looking for a beach vacation with ocean views, this is not the spot. If you're looking for luxury, this is not where you should stay. However if you're looking to sleep somewhere with a mosquito net over your head, a place to shower and 2 minutes away from seeing turtles then this is the place for you. This hotel has the essential basic needs, bed, shower, mosquito net, towels, soap, toilet paper. I mention these, because if you're expecting a hotel that provides shampoo, lotions, a fridge or any other amenities, this is not the case.
Service on the other hand is exceptional. The staff and everyone who works at the hotel is very kind and happy to accommodate our requests. The menu was varied, and we tried quite a few dishes and were pleased with all of them.
If you're coming to see turtles on Rekawa beach, then book your stay here, it's literally a 2 min walk to the beach (we saw baby turtles making their way to sea, and mama turtles laying eggs in the evening). If however you don't care about seeing turtles, book elsewhere. The hotel is not close to much else, and there are no swimmable close by.

Pros:

Turtle Paradise er et sted som absolutt kan anbefales om man skal den veien. Standarden kan virke litt lavere ved første øyekast, men man finner raskt ut at dette er en liten oase et stykke fra Tangalle sentrum. Kort spasertur til stranden med skilpadde-sightseeing. Litt for lang avstand til sentrum, men dette gjenspeiler seg i en pris som vi faktisk opplevde som for lav i forhold til hva man fikk tilbake. Rene og pene rom, et kjøleskap som ikke virket, men det regner jeg med de løste etter at vi dro. Desidert den beste frokosten vi hadde på hele vårt opphold i Sri Lanka.

Positive: The family running the hotel is very sweet and kind. It’s also located close to the beach where you can watch Turtles, so that’s a plus.

Negative: Unfortunately our room was very dirty. It looked like it wasn’t cleaned at all after the previous guests left. Many, many hair on the bed, pillow and ground. Dead insects on the floor, in the bathroom and the mosquito net above the bed too. 0/10 for cleanliness.
Our checkin was a little rough also, as nobody was there when we arrived. The guy who finally came after 20min of waiting barely spoke any English, was kind though.

Truly a turtle paradise
Pros:


Family owned and operated hotel & restaurant where the staff are warm, friendly and eager to please. Good traditional Sri Lankan breakfast and local fruits are served. The hotel is located very close to the beach where sea turtles can be seen nearly every evening. I’d highly recommend this hotel.

A beautiful stay with great hosts!
Pros:

We arrived to this hotel quite late in the night with family and a private driver. We were only staying for 1 night and were planning to leave straight after breakfast the next day.

Staff were extremely friendly and warm and met us with big smiles. Accommodation as well as breakfast for our driver was provided free of charge.

Shortly after we got into our rooms, we were welcomed with fresh flower garlands and freshly squeezed juices in our room. We were a bit surprised when we heard the knock on the door but it was a nice surprise!

The rooms were very clean, neat and tidy and had everything we could need. I was very happy to see the mosquito nets draped around the beds! Had a comfortable night sleep.

The food in the morning was very tasty and varied- with traditional Sri Lankan foods as well as fresh fruits. The location of the hotel was also amazing- very scenic and you can hear sounds of the sea.

The owner was wonderful. We were quite sad to learn about the death of his 2 sons from drowning a few years ago in the sea (whilst their father tried to save them). Pictures of them are seen in the dining area. We were amazed at his resilience and positivity to continue on with a big smile.

Sadly we had already visited a turtle conservation area the day before and also did not have enough time to see the nearby one. Perhaps next time we will try to do this!

We were very happy with our stay and will definitely return if we visit Tangalle again!

Pros:

Very friendly and helpful host, good with kids, nice room (and a babysitter was almost included), great food, a bit remote area (we stayed there out of season), perfect for watching sea turtles at night. It almost felt like being on a family visit :-D

Loveley little paradise
Pros:

It was very simple, but georgeous. The hosts were lovely and the food excellent. When the complete house is ready it will be the loveliest place in Tangelle. 2 Min to the beach. Turtles at night and a nice stone covered ocean pool. We loved it.

Remote but good base for watching turtles
Pros:

Right next to Turtle Watch for watching turtles lay eggs on the beach. You can also go out on the lagoon with the owner. Quite remote and far from the bustle of Tangalle.
