Samui Mermaid Resort Garden Side

Not a nice area, very nice staff… ok rooms… so-so all together… the staff were sweet and very helpful they made the experience nice after a long overseas flight… the hotel itself needs some TLC

The hot water didnt work and, the pool was a busy area, so if you dont want people seeing in your room you have to draw the shades closed. Not enought light in the room, we left after ten minutes.

I chose the pool and ocean view room and it was great when it was quiet. There were a couple of things that weren’t publicised in advance: the pool is only for guests staying in certain rooms, check-in is 2pm not 1.30pm as publicised on hotels.com and there is a 500 Thai baht deposit for the key. There are no safes in the room but some dodgy looking communal lockers at reception.

I was in a room with access to the pool so that was great. However, this isn’t actually policed and there were youngsters walking in from the beach and other accommodations. On one occasion a large family took over the pool and were smoking and drinking in it. From the pool rooms this is pretty noisy too.

When it was quiet it was beautiful but when it’s busy be prepared to have a highway outside your door/window and bed!


Lighting in bathroom and changing area was very limited.

For the price it was excellent.

On the website, they are offering shuttle service. There is none. They only have taxi.
I book this resorts for the shuttle so I was misled.

My little bungalow was located on the garden site. I have to say that it was beautiful. Every 20 minutes there is a plane landing and I really thought that the plane was going to land on my bungalow.

Our room was very unclean. There were huge stains on the head board near the pillows. The bathroom had stains all over the toilet paper holder and there was grime around the shower handle. Checked in at night, asked the staff to change rooms and they eventually agreed. The new room also had urine stains on the toilet. We bought disinfectant and cleaned it. We checked out next day, 3 nights early, we did not want to stay there longer.

Definitely not a 3 star,the man next door had a Thai woman with him all night,the ceiling has mold,walls are paper thin and you get one pillow and can only use one of the pools,reception closes after 11 ish and you have to get WiFi from there(multiple Wi-Fi’s)

Great 3 night stay that's on the flight path to the airport so planes landing and taking off from 7am till 11pm. Great for photos 😁

Nice resort split over the main road in Bang Rak. There are 3 sections, the oldest and cheapest part is not on the beach side, so check before you book. The other 2 parts are by the sea side. If you want more luxury then chose a room in the newer building, although I've stayed in all 3 and prefer I the beach side. This time we stayed in the newer room with direct access to the pool. The bed was a bit too hard for me, but the rooms are big enough with all you need. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the rooms are cleaned daily. The gardens are well taken care of and there's a restaurant on site to by food and drinks. The only disadvantage I found this time was the fact that many, many guests are now smoking cannabis on their balconies and around the pool, which spoilt my days lounging around the pool. Please, please consider putting up signs to let guests know it is not legal to smoke cannabis in public places! Not everyone wants the constant smell and to inhale the second hand smoke. Ask guests to either walk to the beach area or go to the designated shops! However, despite this, I would still return to this hotel as it's got a great pool and view from the resort.

The last time we stopped there was 17yrs ago.now we live in thailand &family met us there from uk.rooms ok bathroom ok nice swimming pools .food good &good menu.just outside have good selection of bars &places to eat.the only bad thing we found is nearly all the staff are from burma &can not fully understand thai or english.but still a good place to stop for the money. we stopped on the beach side

Had a fabulous stay. Great watching the planes. So glad we had superior room with sea view and air con. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely property and staff. The beds were comfortable, firm tho. Showe was nice.
There is construction going on to the left side of the resort while we were there and a mild smell of fish in our room. The staff came and re-cleaned our room and left an air freshener in it. This helped a bit. I think it was out of their hands though as it was coming from next door.
The pool was clean and nice and the view is beautiful..
It is a little noisy with jets going over all day long landing and taking off from the airport. We found it entertaining as they come down so low it’s pretty shocking. Bonus though as you’re super close to the airport!
The staff at the restaurant is nice. We only ate there twice. It was ok. There are plenty of places nearby so lots of variety.
Easy walk to the Buddha’s and the fish market which is interesting.
Overall we would stay there again. Great value for the price.

I only stayed here for a few hours.. I arrived at 10pm and checked out for the ferry at 8.. before I arrived I emailed and called the hotel to see if they would arrange to transport from the airport to the hotel. They ignored the emails and when I the called it was an unintested no.. luckily the airport has an official desk and it was super easy. I checked in and asked about a taxi to the ferry port in the morning, I was told no issues 500b. I'm the morning they had no cars and I had to flag a taxi down I. The street 400b!!! Anyway, the room was basic but the room had a faint smell.of fish??!!. apart from the fish! It's an ok hotel for £30-35 a night.(Pool view bungalow).any more than that.... probably not.

Only stayed one night but everything was fine.

I was looking forward to a private, 1 night stay before my flight after hostel hopping. Unfortunately, super disappointing. When I arrived I found multiple small hairs in my bed. I asked for new sheets and someone very kind remade my bed. I lifted the pillow afterwards to find more hair underneath it. I would say I’m not sure how that even happens but I am, as I used to be in housekeeping. The floors and counters were dirty and also had hair on them and that would be how and why. The sink had not been cleaned and still had soap (bubbles) in the bottom of it. The shower had just been used as there was water on the walls. There was some strange grease stain on the bed sheet as well. The TV was broken. There appeared to be some kind of mold?? Or brown stain on one of the pillows (not the case, I lifted the case off because I thought it was on the pillowcase, it was on the pillow itself). I’m not a very picky person at all but I truly feel the room wasn’t cleaned, the bed just made to look clean. It made me feel quite icky. Reminded me of bachelor friends places like someone had just taken out the garbage and tried to make things look fresh as fast as possible. I almost actually booked another place but I cannot afford that right now and I was so exhausted so I just sucked it up and slept on my beach towel that night. The staff were not apologetic when I told them about the hairs in my bed, infact one of them gave me a little smirk and the other told me someone would come help.
