The best thing about this hotel is its location - a walk away from everything you need to and ought to see in Porto, including the iconic Clérigos church, Porto Cathedral, UNESCO-listed Ribeira district by the Douro River, São Bento Railway Station, Dom Luiz I bridge, Livraria Lello, Bolhão Market, the Carmo & Carmelitas double church, Santa Catarina pedestrian shopping street, and much more.
The rooms are spacious, comfortable, have the required amenities, and continue the unique 'spice' themed decor that greets guests on each floor. The front desk and restaurant staff were warm and friendly and made our stay all the more memorable. Definitely a top spot if you're looking for a relaxed and convenient stay in Porto.
Booked a weekend away and really couldn’t fault the hotel. Great location within an easy walk of quite a few attractions. The restaurant was superb: big shout out to Jorge who couldn’t have been any better! Highly recommend!

Check in was smooth and the staff were friendly. We had parked in the nearby parking f garage and had no idea how we were going to get our luggage to the car. Magically the porter/bellman/staff member I wish I could name said he could help. He walked us to the car and helped us bring the luggage. Throughout our stay he was a delight and source of information. He is the reason for the rating otherwise it would have been poor.
Room on the first floor. First strike. I do r k ow if it is travel agent fail or hotel fail but I do not want the worst room on the first floor. The room is very crowded and yet has little storage. The worst part is the bathroom. Not sure why they would prioritize double sinks over counter space (see photo). Horrible water pressure in the sink and stupidly chosen “modern” drain made shaving a nightmare. Their patio and bar shut down at 10:00 so if we wanted to wind down R the end of an evening it wasn’t happening. As a matter of fact on our last night the staff member working there was incredibly rude. Luckily a manager took care of us but that staff member proceeded to be as noisy and annoying as possible while putting away the tables and chairs. She needs to be spoken to. After that our favorite staff member got us a nightcap.
Overall I might stay there again nut only because we liked the location.
Great location by the main Sao Bento train station and only 10mins from metro E that connects to the airport. Comfortable rooms Friendly helpful staff and really good breakfast. Just ask staff to check the AC is on the right mode. Coffee machine available all day
We stayed here for three nights in June and very much enjoyed the hotel. It is excellent location for all the sites of Porto and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The room was lovely, very comfortable bed and excellent shower. Air-conditioning kept the room comfortable during the heat. The breakfast buffet was very good with a nice selection of food. Fresh coffee was available 24 hours which we enjoyed.
The room was quite large, beautiful updated bathroom lighting was a little low could have more lighting
Bathroom door should have a lip because the water comes out when you’re showering.
Didn’t have a bar, however I was I found out that the building is historic so I understand can’t make too many changes
