We were looked after very well. Rooms were very spacious, clean and comfortable. All the little extras they think of and provide were lovely. (For example if you forgot your toothbrush etc.) Lovely couple, very welcoming.
The dinner menu wasn’t as I had remembered or hoped. But they’re only just starting, recently taken over so they have something to work on.
Great location. Ralph and Lindsey (owners/hosts) really couldn’t do enough to help and were good natured and fun to talk with. Made us feel at home and welcome. Prepared breakfast early so we could set off on our walk in good time. A perfect walkers’ hotel in a lovely village location.
We had a fantastic weekend at the Kirkmichael Hotel and can’t recommend it highly enough. My son, his friend, and I stayed while we were up for a skiing weekend that happened to fall over Burns Night, which made the whole experience even more special.
Ralph and Lindsey were wonderful hosts. Ralph was attentive throughout our stay, making sure we had everything we needed, and Lindsey really went out of her way to accommodate us for Burns Night. It was lovely to enjoy the traditional haggis and be part of the celebrations.
The open fire created such a cosy, welcoming atmosphere after a day out, and it really felt like a home away from home. Ralph mentioned that he and Lindsey hadn’t been at the hotel very long, but you would never know — they are doing a fantastic job.
The locals were incredibly friendly too, and my son and his friend had a great time playing darts and chatting with everyone.
Thank you for such a warm and memorable stay. We’ll definitely be back!
Good size room
Friendly service
Nice shower unit good pressure
Wallpaper missing innthe room lots of it starting to peel off . No parking left at time of visit
The staff were very friendly and clearly doing their best. The location is nice, with easy parking and the property is easy to find. The building itself is charming and there is a bar on site, which is great, especially if you are travelling in a group and want to spend some time together in the evening.
If you are travelling on a tight budget and simply need a place to sleep, I would recommend this place.
Unfortunately, the room cleanliness left a lot to be desired. It could have been much better. The carpets were visibly dirty and overall it seemed that not much attention was paid to cleaning.
The mattresses seemed decades old and were extremely uncomfortable. The bed consisted of two small single beds pushed together, which kept sliding apart. The pillows felt like the cheapest ones from a basic store, offering very little support. The duvet was also poor quality and kept bunching up inside the cover, which made it very uncomfortable to sleep under.
It feels like little attention is paid to these important details. These may seem like small things, but they matter a lot to guests who are tired after a long journey or a full day of skiing. Small improvements in these areas would make a big difference and would definitely encourage guests to return. Unfortunately, in our case, that was not the impression we were left with.
No salt in the breakfast room 🙆
The staff were friendly, took a personal interest and were extremely accommodating to specific needs. . We had a very comfortable room with bath and shower. There’s a cosy set of sofas in front of the fire in the bar. The continental breakfast was extensive although it didn’t include fresh fruit or cheeses etc so not greatly inspiring.
It’s worth noting that the restaurant isn’t open every night.
Ideal location for a ski trip to Glenshee. We went on a tight budget for 3 days skiing and 2 nights stay and had a great time staying at the hotel. A family run business that we’re helpfull and friendly.
Nothing really as it was everything I expected fir the money we paid
I was struggling to find somewhere to stay for one night while skiing at Glenshee and very fortunately at the last minute the Kirkmichael Hotel had availability. The hotel has everything one needs including a great bar, and all the staff were super helpful and friendly. A great find.
Noting, it was all good
Great location for skiing, friendly, helpful , owners, no problems , great bar food
Great little hotel that is very accommodating. We were arriving late and they kept the bar open for us so we could get served on arrival. Very helpful staff who provided everything you need.
Nothing
Can’t say we liked anything about this property. Probably the worst hotel we have ever stayed in.
No food available as bar closed “for unplanned maintenance” had not been forewarned. whole hotel extremely shabby. Bathroom WC had wrong sized and badly fitted seat, wobbily and unsafe. Sink cracked, plug chain not attached. No visible staff around to discuss. Notice in corridor stating “if items had been forgotten there were things in bedroom draws” which were not! Bathroom toiletries obviously left by previous guests.
Huge bed, firearm cabinate and dogs allowed in room not that I had either with me. Reseraunt a mile or so up the road was very good indeed but closes early.
Would have preferred a cooked breakfast but what was there was loads and we'll prepared.
The location was lovely, we had a walk along the river and the town in the morning. We liked that it was right above a pub (it’s a quaint area). Breakfast was also included in our stay and was well done :)
Great area such a lovely wee village , bar/restaurant very cosy with fire board games/darts/books for entertainment
Food from the pub downstairs 10/10
The stay was exceptional! The hosts were very inviting and we had a lovely experience! Highly recommended!
