A few days in beautiful Langkawi
Pros:

Firstly, the island is absolutely beautiful. We loved it.

The hotel, not so much. There is a construction site next door, that does nothing for ambience.

The check in process was long. One of the receptionists didn't seem to have a clue about what to do and depended on the other.

The hotel pool is at the reception area...very odd, considering the hotel is beach front. The pool is closer to the front parking area. Not ideal at all.

The saving grace for this hotel is the sea front. Its an absolutely beautiful view. There is a Restuarant at the sea front. Cocktails served are not great at all.

The hotel room is large. Seems old. Bath tub is stained. Shower cubicle has no door and when you shower the water flows into the rest of the bathroom area. The beds were uncomfortable. Old TV. The room have a balcony though...while nice it faces the walk way..so no views at all.

The food was not so great. The breakfast options with normal hot and cold options..fruits are limited. I did order fish and chips for dinner and I enjoyed it.

At check out, we were charged for make up stains on the bedding. We were not sure whether that means they throw away the bedding and have to buy new ones. This was unfortunate.

I wouldn't recommend it and had we read the reviews here we would have asked our agent to look for other options..

We are a family of five (two adults and three children) and we travel a lot. Unfortunately, our stay at Camar Resort Langkawi was a total nightmare that ruined our entire holiday. What was supposed to be a relaxing end to our month-long trip through Malaysia and Thailand became an unbelievable disaster from start to finish.

From the moment we arrived, everything went wrong. Check-in took 45 minutes, even though we asked many times to make it faster after a long journey. The receptionist kept disappearing to a back room to “ask permission” for every little thing and even tried to charge us extra for our daughter. She only admitted her mistake after we checked carefully.

The rooms were terrible. Both rooms had only one king-size bed, even though we clearly asked for one room with three separate beds or at least an extra bed. When we complained, they said it is “normal in Langkawi for three people to share one bed” – completely unacceptable. An extra bed was only possible with a “room upgrade” for €152 per night, on top of the already high room price. We refused this!

The staff was completely incompetent. For every small problem, they had to run to a back room or call for permission. When we asked for an extra sheet at 10:00 PM, we were told: “management will kill me if I do that.”

Also, the daily service was very poor. In the room where three people stayed, only two towels were provided every day, so I had to ask the reception daily for an extra towel. In addition, our personal belongings were moved by housekeeping, which caused serious frustration and a strong sense of disrespect for our privacy.

The facilities were awful. At low tide, there was a terrible smell because real sewage was being dumped into the sea near the hotel. A nearby sewage plant blew a disgusting smell into the resort day and night, making it impossible to swim or walk on the beach. The pool was noisy and very shallow (only 1.3 m), and outside we were constantly disturbed by jet skis and planes flying over. Wi-Fi was bad, drinks were very expensive, and the staff remained young, inexperienced, and unprofessional.

The worst part was check-out. They tried to keep €100 of our deposit for a tiny stain (less than 1 cm) on a sheet, which they said was noticed two days earlier but never told us about. Only after heated arguments and intervention from two managers did we get the money back. It felt like a deliberate attempt to take money from guests before they leave.

Overall, this was the most unprofessional, unfriendly, disrespectful, and unfair hotel experience we have ever had. Even a 2-star hotel treats guests better than Camar Resort. The resort felt cold, loveless, and very badly managed. The combination of incompetent staff, dirty conditions, and complete lack of hospitality turned our stay into a real nightmare.

This is to bring to a notice to the owners of the hotel that EVO has ruined all my clintel with worst service provided Ms Evo tells that there are no one above her in the hotel and she can do what ever she feels like and informs that she doesnot need any business from India when request to share the details of her superiors she says her boss isnot ready to talk to us and sort this issue. there is no one complaints department no authorities that can reach out to get this sorted.

My Review of Camar Resort Langkawi

My experience at Camar Resort Langkawi was extremely disappointing. I made a reservation through Agoda, but when I arrived at the hotel, the reception staff told me they had not received my booking. I gave them the reference number, but they didn’t know how to handle the situation and seemed completely untrained.

I had to wait for more than 3 hours at the reception with no clear explanation, no solution, and not even a proper apology. The way the situation was handled was completely unprofessional.

The female receptionist on the mid-shift was especially unhelpful, lazy, and lacked even the most basic customer service skills. She had no idea how to assist guests and acted like she didn’t care at all.

I asked for a refund or at least to use the booking for another date, but the hotel refused both. They showed no flexibility and made no effort to resolve the issue.

In my opinion, this hotel does not deserve its rating, and I do not recommend anyone to stay there. The reception team urgently needs proper training in guest service and communication. A warm welcome and professional attitude should be the minimum in any hotel, but unfortunately, Camar Resort Langkawi failed in both

No comments reviews of Camar Resort Langkawi . So many people complain about their charges for stain on towels I need to file a complaint towards the housekeeping and the receptionist, they have accused us on staining the towel without any valid reason and we are sure that we didn’t make any rusty stain on a hand towel. The receptionist seems like she doesn’t want to actually care about our rights on this. For us it feels like they just want our money. This is UNACCEPTABLE. and for that housekeeper who just makes this thing us is stupid and is such a nonsense.

Plus the water keeps on leaking from the bathroom, literally worst experience🙄 please return my back money and my rights

And by reading all those reviews seems like some customers have been facing the same problem by a random pic from the housekeeper and unbothered receptionist. Please do it better CAMAR. You have ruined my holiday seriously

Hotel it self very pleasant , good size room , massive swimming pool.
However the food in the restaurant was diabolical.
My partner being a vegetarian ordered a Vegetarian stir fry after eating what she thought was tofu or a piece of vegetable she asked me to try a piece as it felt stringy. I said that’s chicken, she was annoyed that they had given a vegetarian meat. I called the waiter over and said there is chicken in this dish, yes he said what was ordered has chicken in it , let me see the menu , there was no mention of chicken on her order, he apologised and offered to cook another dish, by this time my partner was no feeling so good having the thought of eating meat had put her off eating anything else.
As I dislike eggs , my order was without any egg, but despite this it came with a large fried egg perched on top of the rice!
We should have seen the red flags only one other person was eating in the restaurant at the time and he turned out to be a member of staff. Despite a heated discussion over the bill, I was still made to pay it in full.
Guess all the other guest had suffered a similar fate to us when and had chosen to eat in the local restaurants,

Nice hotel with a very good pool. My main issue is the lack of decent air conditioning. This was manageable in the rooms as they also had large fans but completely inadequate in the fitness room. This was a glass room facing the sun for most of the day and the air conditioner barely put out any cold air leaving it a dangerous temperature to workout. It’s a good hotel in other aspects but if you want to use the gym during your stay choose somewhere else.

Pros:

What an amazing stay we had.
We booked a room that had direct access to the pool and we are so happy we did.
The resort was very quiet and not many quests, the most amount of people in the pool during our stay was approx 6 people.
Limited offering / variety of food onsite but we didn’t go to eat in the resort, we went for an experience.
Perfect way to end our holiday by relaxing by the pool and allowing us to unwind.
Room was very comfortable, clean and large.

Another hotel where the reality is very different from the Expedia photos. Staff was very nice, but hotel wasn’t in the best condition. There was what looked like black mold growing around the base of the sink and toilet. The beach by the hotel has a sewage smell.

Terrible staff with barely any services, only saving grace is the location. Be prepared to he harrassed.

We booked this place because it had private access to the beach and that was the only saving grace.
Our check in was late by 2 hours even though the room was available, the welcome drink wasnt served to half of us, for anything that you order the staff tallies the number of utensils by ringing your doorbell 7AM in the morning no matter you are sleeping or not. We were a group of 10, all vegetarians, we specified our preferences on day one itself, however, not a single day, did we get any vegetarian dish for the four nights that we stayed.
After complaining multiple times, they finally arranged for vegetarian Indian breakfast on the day. We were checking out, and it was served only to 3 out of the 10 of us.
If by chance, you happen to stay in their bedsheet or their pillow cover, they will argue with you like you were some thieves and make you pay the amount for absolutely no reason.
I have travelled to multiple countries and stayed in both good and bad properties, but never came across something as pathetic as this place.
The staff is an absolute nightmare. There is no communication in between them, and they treat guests like s***t.
Never going back and do not recommend it to anybody who is going on a vacation to look for peace. This place is made up of your worst nightmares.

We really loved our four day stay at the Camar Resort. Our room was in the ground floor and opened up to the pool - amazing. The private beach was great and quiet. The breakfast was decent but not spectacular and I imagine we would have grown tired of the choices after more than 4 days. It was the low season so the resort was very quiet which was great for us. There were a number of awesome and really affordable restaurants around so you didn’t feel like you had to eat at the resort for every meal (although the food was quite good at the hotel). The service at the resort was top notch and I think that is what truly sets Camar apart from the others.

Lovely hotel with a private beach
Pros:

Overall nice and quiet hotel with a private beach. Upon arrival we received a nice complimentary mocktail at the beach bar. Rooms were okay, I would prefer bottled water over filtered water. Breakfast is terrible, the selection is minimal I would expect the spread to be much more vast.

Disappointing Stay: Declining Standards at a Once-Favorite Hotel

As a frequent visitor to Langkawi, Camar Resort Langkawi used to be our go-to choice for holidays, special occasions like birthdays, and anniversaries. However, our recent two-night stay marked a significant departure from our previous positive experiences.

Check-in Process:
Previously a seamless experience, our recent arrival at Camar Resort Langkawi was marred by unexpected obstacles. Rather than the usual smooth check-in, we were asked to email or WhatsApp our booking confirmation, a new and inconvenient policy. Moreover, despite our customary request for a RM100 deposit, the reception insisted on RM200 without room for negotiation. Attempts to discuss this discrepancy with the manager were met with resistance, as they were unavailable.

Room Condition:
Upon entering our room, we were greeted by oily floors, indicative of subpar cleaning standards. We requested for a change of room at the reception and the staff called the housekeeper to come and check but we were met with a language barrier as the housekeepers did not comprehend English or Malay. Despite our efforts to communicate the issue, they simply brushed us off, attributing the problem to improper chemical cleaning without addressing our concerns.

Power Outage:
During our stay, we experienced a power outage, disrupting our activities, including crucial online work. Surprisingly, this was not an isolated incident, as staff acknowledged that such disruptions were commonplace and persisted due to a lack of maintenance.

Security Hassles:
The incessant questioning by the security guard about our presence, despite our evident status as guests, became increasingly irksome. Despite the obvious lack of other guests, the scrutiny persisted, adding to our frustration.

Overall Disappointment:
Our grievances fell on deaf ears, with staff displaying indifference to our concerns. The evident language barrier further compounded our issues, highlighting the need for better-trained, English- or Malay-speaking staff.

In conclusion, our recent experience at Camar Resort Langkawi was overwhelmingly negative, and we cannot in good conscience recommend it. It's apparent that the hotel has declined in both service quality and guest satisfaction. Save yourself the disappointment and explore other accommodations in Langkawi.

Great stay!
Pros:

We stayed at Camar resort for 4 nights and what a lovely hotel! The staff are so friendly and can’t do enough for you. The rooms are very clean and well kept, with clean towels daily. The breakfast has a great choice and was all very fresh and tastes lovely. I would highly recommend this hotel if you’re planning on visiting Langkawi. It’s a 5🌟 from us!
