Staff were friendly, breakfast was very good 👍
Nothing
I stayed at the Wessex Hotel for the duration of 3 days as I was on a business trip to the area, my requirement was for a comfortable clean room which could provide me with a peaceful nights sleep away from my hectic work schedule, I am very pleased to say that the Hotel ticked the boxes here, my room was clean well equipped and spacious.
I included Breakfast to my booking & this was also of a very good quality with ample hot & cold choices.
I personally could not fault the staff who were friendly helpful & courteous during my stay.
I will definitely be using the Wessex Hotel again in the near future when in the area.
Thank you.
MIdweek stay and i think there were only 2/3 other people staying in the whole hotel. The Hotel is dated, my room looked like something from the 70's. the bed was hard, the cushions were harder. The taps in the shower were hot, but too hot and by adding cold water it made it even hotter. i tried the cold tap on its own and the water was scolding. The door lock wouldn't actually lock so if someone from the outside had a key it would open my room. there was no ventilation as the bedroom window wouldn't open. Outside of my room 201, there was cable hanging down from the ceiling and as a tall guy i had to avoid as i wasn't sure what the cable was for. The hotel staff didn't even ask how my stay was when i checked out, there was no customer experience interest what so ever. The hotel was empty and i can understand why. I walked by 2 other hotels on the same street that actually looked busy, i didn't see one person in the bar or restaurant that wasn't staff. if i hadn't already paid i would have stayed elsewhere
The fact that they had an ev charger was probably the only thing going for this hotel. The car parking spaces were ample as they only had 3 other guests

Location
All was fine
I stayed at The Wessex Hotel with GB tours from 23rd February until 27th February.
Had a lovely room [105] very clean , lovely walk in shower . Food was very good and god selection . staff helpful and friendly . Clarks Village 5 minutes walk from Hotel , Market day Thursday . Very nice stay , would always choose The Wessex when I travel to Somerset .
Very good
It’s was clean and the staff were lovely ,nothing was too much trouble
The showers were run off a mixer tap so it was a bit of an ordeal going hot them cold them hot again! And the restaurant wasn’t open any of the evenings we were there which was disappointing as it meant you had to go out for food, staff were very obliging when takeaways were brought in though
Cooked breakfast was good. Shower had plenty of pressure, but needs a descale (Room 115).!
On arrival i was given the key to my room, but when I opened the door it was already occupied..! I was then given a different larger room. Trouble was the water tasted very metallic, so couldn't make any tea that I could drink.
Breakfast and staff were very nice. Room facilities and cleanliness was also great.
Despite the room and breakfast being lovely. The heating in the room was unbearable for several days. Heating was on full despite it being middle of summer on an hot day/night. Appears to be ongoing issue at the hotel as several guests mentioned similar. Mentioned this at reception and the solution provided was to open window and provision of a fan. It looks like the heating was unable to be turned down. This significantly took away from what otherwise would have been a great experience
Very good
Weather 🤣
All went well
Chairs in dining room not very comfortable
We happily returned to the Wessex Hotel once again, but this time over the festive period,
The Hotel was wonderfully & tastefully decorated for the festivities, which along with the always welcoming staff created the perfect relaxing atmosphere that we have come to expect from the Hotel from past experience.
The breakfast's were of good quality & hot, we did not stay for Christmas lunch as we were visiting family but from the conversation's that we later had with fellow guests who did, the afternoon sounded fabulous ( they apparently even have a pianist playing in the restaurant during Christmas lunch ), we may have to consider booking our meal's at the Hotel next year !
All in all great value for money & we were very well looked after, Thank you Wessex Hotel !
The hotel is basic and in need of a serious amount of updating. Toilet is separate to the bathroom, which has the bath with shower over it and the sink to be able to wash your hands, would it not be more hygienic to also have a sink in with the toilet. The shower head was coming out in all directions when we arrived but staff were quick to change it. The towel rail is roasting hot as is the bathroom floor due to the hot water pipes under it, you can't turn the towel rail off as it plumbs the hot water as well, so if the rail is off you don't get hot water, this makes the bathroom and therefore the whole room very hot even in December, I would hate to think what it would have been like in the summer. Bed was rock hard and the pillows are either wafer thin or lumpy and hard. Breakfast was good with lots of choice, had 2 meals there first was poor, 2nd was very nice. Staff are really helpful and friendly and can't do enough for you, it is just a shame that this hotel hasn't had money spent on the required upkeep.
