Rosewood Phnom Penh is the obvious choice if you want a calm, quiet-feeling reset in the middle of the city. It’s counterintuitive because it sits in a sizable tower and connects to a mall, but once you’re inside the hotel world you’d never know it.
We stayed two nights, which felt perfect.
A few thoughts:
Location and feel
This is a true city hotel yet it manages to feel separate from it once you’re upstairs. You get the calm you want after a busy day of touring, without the property feeling hushed. There’s still energy in the public spaces, but it stays controlled.
One practical note: the new airport is stunning (perhaps one of the best new airports in the world, without exaggeration), but make sure to plan your transfer carefully. Our drive was around 45 minutes and is very traffic-dependent.
Architecture and flow
The interior design is the first wow. It’s not trying to be a classic grand dame property, but it also doesn’t feel cold. The art and materials do a lot of work.
Because the hotel is in a tower, you move between your room and the restaurants/wellness via the sky lobby. That takes a minute to adjust to, but the elevator situation is painless (we never waited more than a minute, which matters in high-rise city hotels).
Rooms and suite experience
The room reveal was a highlight. We were unexpectedly upgraded to a generous suite with a separate living room, dining table, and powder room, which changed the whole stay in the best way.
Two small notes:
- Storage for luggage felt a bit cramped for extended travel.
-The switches could use better illumination at night.
Breakfast
The fruit selection was a standout.
For design geeks who care about details: Christofle flatware is used throughout the property, including in-room dining. You almost never see that level of consistency. Plenty of design-forward dining rooms stop short here.
Fitness and wellness
The gym is well equipped, though smaller than I expected given the scale of the pool and other wellness areas.
The thermal pools are separated in the changing rooms from the main pool. The split feels deliberate, and the city view is the payoff.
Bars
Do not skip Sora. The Whisky Library (more of a speakeasy) is also worth a stop if you like Japanese whisky. They’ve done a Nikka collaboration that’s worth exploring.
Wine program
The wine program is the quiet flex of the property.
If you’re remotely into wine (or a full cork dork), you need to see the cellar. We were lucky that the beverage director took us through it, and it’s the rare hotel cellar that feels intentional. The list leans Old World, and it’s deep enough that if you call out a benchmark bottle you love, they’ll often have a strong vintage.
A closing thought
Rosewood’s edge is that the design, the rooms, and the operating rhythm carry the stay.
Some of the heritage-leaning options in Phnom Penh trade on ceremony and nostalgia. If that’s the trip you want, you’ll know it going in. If you want the stronger hard product and an easier reset after touring, this is the better selection.
I’ve stayed in hundreds of hotels in dozens of countries, and hands down this was one of the nicest hotel stays I’ve ever had!!
The hotel is incredibly well appointed, has such an impressive array of food and beverage options, a first class spa, an incredibly helpful and knowledgeable concierge team, and a world class staff that is simply unparalleled!
While every staff member I encountered was simply exceptional, shout out to Daneth who checked me in, helped arrange a wonderful spa treatment, and truly went above and beyond to ensure my stay was simply outstanding!
I booked with an AMEX FHR rate, and the hotel went so far above and beyond with a very generous upgrade to an outstanding room, and increased the property benefit from $100 to $175! I’m have no status with Rosewood, yet they treated me and every guest like a VIP!
I will fondly remember my stay at the Rosewood Phnom Penh, and very much look forward to returning!
An absolutely spectacular hotel I can’t stop thinking about it was such a relaxing way to end my trip in Cambodia.
The Mekong suite was absolutely stunning, with floor to ceiling windows wrapping around the bedroom looking out over the city, a gorgeous bathroom with a tub by a huge window as well as a rain shower and chic modern living room area. They had a lovely welcome amenity of a delicious bottle of wine with pastries, fruit and a hand written note, when I walked which was such a huge surprise as this was my first time ever staying at a Rosewood property.
I normally wouldn’t have every meal at a hotel but the hotel was so amazing I didn’t want to leave it and the food and wine at each venue was absolutely incredible.
I had lunch at the Brasserie Louis which was delicious and the service impeccable.
The Sora Skydeck bar is an absolute must for sunset, the vibe is incredible, the views stunning and the service is next level making it such a magical experience.
Dinner at Cuts was delicious high quality and once again such impeccable polished service.
The entire hotel design is stunning with such attention to detail, high quality craftmanship and care in every aspect from the crystal glass stemware to the stunning architecture.
The service was so incredible the entire time at every stage form the doorman taking my bags, to reception checking me and escorting me to my room, to all the restaurants and throughout everyone was so wonderfully warm and welcoming and helpful with anything I needed.
This was my first time at a Rosewood property but will definitely not be my last and I cannot wait to come back to this hotel, would HIGHLY recommend if staying in Phnom Pehn plus it is very close to the Central market and not far form the Palace and other sights.
This place is very expensive, but is top notch. I stayed here through the AMEX Platinum FHR. The service is stupendous. I forgot the girl who was from my hometown city, Siem Reap and the guy who gave me Kampot pepper as a little souvenir as well. I think I was upgraded to one of the rooms that has a very nice view of the river and the market from the 32nd floor. The room is spacious, clean and luxurious. I actually stayed here since last year. I have been traveling and staying in many places, but never written reviews until now, so thought to leave my feedback here. There are definitely many options for your stays, but if you want to be a little extravagant and enjoy the view, Sora Bar with live music, and just the experience at one of the tallest hotels in Cambodia, definitely check out Rosewood Phnom Penh. I have not yet found a place that exceeded the service level as in this hotel. I might stay here again next time I am in Phnom Penh.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay.
But, we encountered some service issues and functional deficiencies
As well as the expected communication issues, some language related,, there were instances of a no- can do attitude on the part of some front of house staff
Functional deficiencies included:- in our room, difficulties with the lighting switches, that were much worse by night as the switch labelling was almost impossible to read, and a TV with no audio volume until fixed. Far worse still was having no direct access to mobile voice or data in the room that precluded incoming calls, including one important set of calls for which the only apparent solution was to have calls made to the hotel switchboard for onward routing to our room - the problem was that the switchboard never answered the incoming calls
One tried to arrange to meet with the Hotel Director to mention the problems but this was neatly avoided by a gatekeeper who took not a single note during our conversation, thereby signalling, or so it felt, a distinct disinterest - completely underwhelming
Excellent treatments, very kind attention, very professional in a beautiful setting. I enjoyed every moment of the peaceful athmosphere
Wow what a stunning rooftop experience. We did not dine here but chose the Sora bar. Walked through the covered area onto the terrace. Fabulous views, great selection of drinks. ‘Munchies’gratis while waiting for the cocktails to be mixed. Of course we had to try 3 different drinks and then as we all agreed had another all agreed was the favourite. Rain stopped play but the inside booth also offered stunning views through the windows. Staff were brilliant from the front door to upstairs and back. Cocktails USD12 each.
Probably the best hotel in Phnom Penh. Very nicely built with luxurious interiors. My suite was a bit smaller but had great views. They upgraded me to a bigger suite that didn’t have the same kind of views, so I opted for the suite that I had originally booked.
Based on my experience with Rosewood hotels in other countries, I can confidently say that the quality of service at Rosewood hotels is one of the best and this hotel only raises the bar. Staff at the breakfast and lounge were especially nice.
If I go back to Phnom Penh, this is the only hotel I would stay at.
A delicious feeling with the one I love He is the only person I have ever seen live in a luxury hotel like you. My mood really changed with my love and people like you
Beautiful hotel. Incredible staff. Every dining experience in the hotel was fantastic. The team is excited to share the facilities with you, taking you on a tour to show you everything that is available for your stay. This should become everyones home away from home while in Phnom Penh.
I love charming Phnom Penh and have been to the beautiful city many times. Of course Rosewood is the best hotel in town, a luxurious & peaceful oasis up on high floors to enjoy the mesmerizing city & river views both day & night times.
Culinary outlets are amazing with cozy, vibrant atmosphere to fulfill your schedule. From relaxing lobby lounge to enjoy tea time & snacks.. to delicious sushi & Japan foods.. outdoor Sora sky bar is my most favorite spot to enjoy cocktails with live music 🫰🏽
Service is absolutely at high standard, personalized & professional. Your hospitality & care are the best 🫶🏽 If you choose to stay here, my suggest is to book suite category and look for Daneth chief butler because she is the super star ⭐️ Daneth & her team will take care of all your needs at high level and with their passion.
Thank you for making a wonderful & unforgettable experience for me and my young brother when we were in Rosewood Phnom Penh! LOVE from Vietnam 🇻🇳 🫶🏽🇰🇭
Excellent experience. Beautiful room (upgraded at check in to a Premier River Room) facing the Mekong river. Most probably the best hotel room I have stayed in in South East Asia. Outstanding service from the team at the Rosewood from the airport pickup on arrival, to the concierge, housekeeping, front desk and spa/swimming pool and restaurant teams. Special thanks to Mr Kong Luch the assistant front office manager and to Charlie the Concierge who went the extra mile to help us out with all of our requests and took great care of us. We hope to be back in the future
I had a great time at the rosewood in Phnom Penh. I especially enjoyed the Sora bar and the great service provided to me by Boren and Nara. They are both friendly and professional. The atmosphere is great.
I was impressed by the amazing service and the breathtaking views of the city. I really enjoyed the restaurant, spectacular service of Senghay, She assisted me with the booking and I like how nice she is! 巨爽

Honestly the most detailed oriented, polite , elegant and professional hotel I’ve ever stayed at, really impresseHonestly, the most detail-oriented, polite, elegant, and professional hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I’m really impressed with everything and everyone. If there were more than a five-star rating, it would totally deserve it.
Rosswood Phnom Penh Hotel is very nice and newly built. It is a five-star hotel in Cambodia. We really enjoyed our stay here. All the staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our visit.
The rooms are big, spacious, and offer a great view. It is also conveniently located within walking distance of the Royal Palace and the Riverside. The scenery is beautiful, and we will definitely return!
Perhaps the success of Rosewood Phuket is a testament to the forward - looking nature of the brand's strategy. Or perhaps it is the unique endowments of Southeast Asia that have inspired its ambition to delve deeper. In 2018, Rosewood placed two important pieces on the chessboard along the Mekong River. Among them, the opening of Rosewood Phnom Penh added another glorious chapter to this luxury hotel group known for its exceptional design. In the hotel industry, Rosewood has always stood out with its philosophy of "A Sense of Place", which emphasizes that design is the soul. Every hotel under its banner can be regarded as a work of art, and so far, none has been able to match its excellence, consistently topping the hotel beauty contests.

Rosewood is extremely stringent in its site - selection criteria. It tends to choose core areas, first - tier cities with developed transportation and vibrant consumer vitality. When it comes to selecting owners, Rosewood has even higher standards. Therefore, it was somewhat surprising to learn that Rosewood had chosen Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia. Phnom Penh's ability to stand out may well be in line with Rosewood's understanding of the potential of this rapidly developing city. As the old and the new collide at the mouth of the Mekong Delta, creating a new spectrum, Phnom Penh is currently demonstrating its unique geopolitical charm and vigorous development momentum, interpreting the innovation of a Southeast Asian emerging metropolis.

In most people's Cambodia travel plans, Siem Reap is often the top choice, and Phnom Penh rarely makes it onto the destination list. Initially, I was the same, only setting it as a transit point on my journey, with my heart full of longing for the mysterious and shocking ancient ruins of Angkor Wat. However, Phnom Penh is developing at an astonishing speed. The high - rise buildings are springing up like mushrooms after the rain, demonstrating the vibrant energy of the capital. Yet, beneath this wave of modernization, Phnom Penh still retains its simplicity and composure, free from the impatience brought by excessive commercialization. Maybe that's why now is the best time to visit Phnom Penh, to experience the authenticity that has not yet faded.

If you want to experience the blend of the city's cultural charm and modern luxury, Rosewood Phnom Penh is undoubtedly the best choice. From its architectural design to interior furnishings, Rosewood Phnom Penh seamlessly integrates Khmer traditions, French colonial legacies, and contemporary design languages. It not only showcases the brand's aesthetic concept but also deeply interprets the unique historical temperament of Phnom Penh. If you, like me, are coming to Cambodia for Angkor Wat but have to stay in Phnom Penh, why not spend a night at Rosewood? Its beauty is not a result of extravagant decoration but emanates from within, exuding a magnificent aura. Who wouldn't love such a beautiful hotel?
We recently held our annual convention at Rosewood Phnom Penh, and the experience exceeded all expectations.
The service was impeccable—attentive, discreet, and professional at every level. From the event coordination to the in-room experience, the entire Rosewood team delivered with precision and care.
The facilities were ideal for both business sessions and informal gatherings, offering breathtaking views and a refined atmosphere that our entire team appreciated.
Thank you to the Rosewood staff for making our convention seamless and memorable. Highly recommended for any corporate event.
Got food poisoning during my stay (NOT from hotel food, it was local seared red tuna) and the staff took great care of me. They have an onsite pharmacist that took great care of me. Thanks again to this hotel and their wonderful staff!
The hotel is at the top of a tall building in the heart of the city near most of the attractions and the Mekong. The service is excellent and Daniel the GM made us feel welcome. The rooms have everything including great views. The rooftop bar is a perfect place to watch the sunset and the Japanese restaurant was excellent.
