Oarsmans Bay Lodge isn’t too crowded meaning there is an atmosphere of relaxation. The Lodge is situated on the ocean meaning the beach is only a few steps from your bed. There are walking tracks spanning many many KM’s which are great for keeping active. The activities available such as snorkelling and going out fishing on one of the boats are highly recommended. Any fish that are caught are superbly cooked for you by the kitchen. The food is of high quality and the Chef is happy to modify quantities, depending on your appetite. The entire Lodge is 5 star quality. The entire lodge is 10/10. The Staff were very approachable and receptive and amenable to any requests.

The location was amazing, so away from the outside busy world it really felt like we were on a deserted island. The staff were all so lovely and the massages were to die for, it was heaven on earth.
Nothing
The Bures are comfortable with outdoor showers. The grounds are beautiful. The staff is friendly and helpful, the food is good, made from home grown produce and varied. The setting is relaxed and authentic. They offer a few different tour excursions that are enjoyable. I would highly recommend staying here for a portion of your Fiji experience.
They only had instant coffee but they offer hot water with tea bags & 'instant' coffee all day, which I REALLY appreciated, so a small price to pay.
Location is stunning and secluded. Staff are so kind and food is delicious
Sehr aufmerksames Personal
Gute Angebote
Sehr teures Essenspaket, ohne Vorankündigung bei der Buchung.
Very clean facilities, including dorm bathrooms and showers
Modern, well-maintained bures
Free activities (snorkelling, paddle boarding, etc.)
Friendly, helpful activity hosts
Good food with clear daily schedules
Afternoon tea included
Spacious dorm rooms with ocean-view balcony
Free WiFi in main building
Adults-only resort with a relaxed vibe
Suggestions for improvement/cons :
- Dorm beds could benefit from privacy curtains
- Individual bedside lamps or lanterns would help at night
- WiFi only available in the main building
- Dorms upstairs with high steps may be difficult for some
- More proactive encouragement for activities — having a staff member check in with guests in communal areas 30–60 minutes before activities could help boost participation
The people that work at the resort are wonderful. So warm and welcoming. The island dogs are truly adorable and we miss them so much. The views are breathtaking. The chef, Jerry, is phenomenal. The food was great.
nothing - everything was amazing
Everything was absolutely gorgeous! The welcome, the location, the staff, the food, the service and the activities. Clean and fresh, calm and relaxing getaway. I had a massage, went on a short hike with an amazing view, and took a boat to a private island to watch the sunset. There was also a beautiful sunrise at the restaurant. I can highly recommended and will definitely come back!
J’ai adoré le personnel qui était d’une gentillesse incroyable surtout Josh. Merci à vous pour avoir rendu ce voyage magique !
Rien tout est parfait je n’ai rien à redire
I had a fantastic stay at Oarsman. Truly one of the nicer spots you can stay in the Yasawa Islands. Beautiful accomodations, beach, and snorkeling in crystal clear turquoise waters right off the property. Food was also delicious, with healthy portions. A particular shout out to the pastry chef, who made some of the best cinnamon buns I've had. Finally, a huge thank you to Josh, who made our stay all the more fun. He has a great sense of humour and we had a lot of laughs with him. Cheers.
Nothing - was perfect

Amazing view, like a postal card
I just spent 3 nights at Oarsman’s Lodge on Nacula Island and, honestly, I’m really disappointed. It was the most expensive hotel I’ve booked so far in Fiji, and yet it was by far the least enjoyable experience.
What shocked me the most was the attitude of the staff. Until now, I’ve been amazed by how warm, friendly and genuinely kind Fijians are — always smiling, calling you by your name, creating real human connections. Here, it was quite the opposite. I had several unpleasant interactions, with staff members being dismissive, even borderline aggressive at times. It felt cold and transactional, which is heartbreaking when you’ve experienced the beautiful spirit of the Fijian people elsewhere.
The food was also very disappointing. Compared to other resorts like Manta Ray or Mai Sunset, the quality and variety just weren’t there. Meals often arrived cold, and there was no real choice — lunch was fixed, and dinner only offered two options. At every other place I stayed, I was presented with a full menu and fresh, tasty dishes.
One example that really bothered me: the drink menu listed a “fresh fruit juice” for 10 FJD. When I asked what fruits were available, the staff told me they had none, and that it was just powder mixed with water. Later, I noticed half a pineapple at the bar and asked if they could use it instead — I was told it was for cocktail decoration only. Eventually, they agreed to make a juice with it, but charged me 15 FJD, saying it was “real fresh fruit juice” this time. That kind of practice left a very bad taste.
I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. There are far better options in the Yasawa Islands with amazing food, a welcoming atmosphere, and staff that make you feel like family — the true Fijian way.
Sehr nettes und hilfsbereites Personal. Leckeres und abwechslungsreiches Essen.Die Zimmer und Toiletten waren sauber.Große Empfehlung!!
