The best way to to spend our anniversary weekend!

Convenient city accomodation close to centre but quieter location.
Pros:

Location . Walkable to city centre but also close to free city bus routes.
Staff have been very attentive. Very handy to car rental locations.

A little disappointed this time round.
Pros:

Back at The Melbourne Hotel for the third time now and we were a tad disappointed this time around. Most notably with the surrounding area where the hotel is located. It has deteriorated somewhat since our last visit with many empty shop fronts, and very few eating options open of an evening compared to previous trips. The room was acceptable but a little pricey for the basic double in the heritage part of the property. The bed was uncomfortable (springy mattress) and we had to ask reception to put the heating on a couple of times. Street noise was also very noticeable from our room on this visit. Reception staff continue to be lovely and having safe paid parking onsite is a bonus. The Red CAT free bus service close by serves its purpose. If I didn't have a car, I wouldn't be considering this property. I'd be exploring properties closer into the CBD with more quality eating, shopping and entertainment options nearby.

Very nice but lacking a ‘oooh guess what the Melbourne offered’ conversation to be shared.
Pros:

The overall feel/look. Loved the old bits integrated into new design.

Cons:

I enjoyed it but as with other similar hotels in Perth there was no little touches that made it any different to other city hotels. I am looking for a point of difference to set a hotel apart. Things offered such as complimentary water were just a bit ‘samey’.

Wouldn’t stay again

Did not sleep at all from road noises, there is no sound insulation. Noisiest place I’ve ever stayed. No exhaust fan in the bathroom and a sign saying you’ll be fined $750 if you leave the door ajar and the smoke alarm goes off. No hand soap in the dispenser.
