Exceptional
Pros:

Absolutely loved my stay at Amber Hall Guesthouse in Johannesburg. The service was exceptional from start to finish, with such warm and welcoming staff who made me feel right at home. The rooms are beautifully done, and the bed and linen were incredibly comfortable — I slept like a dream! A truly relaxing and memorable stay. Highly recommend.

Für eine Nacht o.k. Einen längeren Aufenthalt empfehle ich nicht.

Ein Hinweis: Das Hotel hat angeblich 4 Sterne und auf dem Nachttisch liegt ein Zettel, auf dem darauf hingewiesen wird, dass man eine 10-Punkte Bewertung anstrebt. Ich glaube nicht, dass der Besitzer sich bewusst ist, was es dafür braucht.
Schon die Naturstrasse, die von der Einfahrt zum Haus führt ist von holprigen Löchern übersäht. Eigentlich bräuchte man hier einen 4WD. Wir wurden nicht vorgewarnt. Hier Pflastersteine zu verlegen wäre kein Luxus.
Der Empfang war freundlich. Ansonsten hat die Rezeptionistin sich aber nicht gekümmert. Es fehlt ein wirklicher Gastgeber. Bei einem so kleinen Hotel erwarte ich das. Der versprochene Moskitostecker wurde auch prompt vergessen.
Wir erhielten 4 Schlüssel an einem Bund. Das war nicht einmal ein schöner Anhänger dran. Kein einziger der Schlüssel war gekennzeichnet. Sie sahen aber alle sehr ähnlich auf. Einer war für die Eingangstüre zum Gebäude, ein anderer für das Zimmer, ein weiterer für die Terrassentüre und ein weiterer für die Jalusie. Eine Kennzeichnung der einzelnen Schlüssel wäre kostengünstig machbar und hätte ums bei der Heimkehr jeweils viel Zeit gespart.
Zerrissene Handtücher, die so wie mir schien während der 4 Tage nicht ersetzt wurden. Keine Konsistenz bei dem Herrichten der Zimmer (einmal liegt das Pijama irgendwo, einmal auf dem Bett, einmal unter dem Kissen). Das Duvet war dünn und die kleine Zusatzdecke war aus billiger Kunstfaser und hat bei den tiefen Temperaturen nicht wirklich geholfen. Ich hatte meinen Kaschmirschal dabei. Der hat mich gerettet. Nicht genügened Ablageflächen im Zimmer, keine Haken an der Wand, damit man die Jacken aufhängen konnte. Das Badezimmer hatte praktisch keine Ablageflächen und auch hier gab es keine Haken, um die Tücher und Badesachen aufzuhängen.
Jeden Morgen immer das gleiche frische Joghurt mit Früchten. Warme Speisen konnten bestellt werden, die dann kalt serviert wurden. Einmal war der Speck so hart, dass ich ihn nicht essen konnte. Toast, Buffet... nada

EXCEPTIONAL, wish I could have stayed longer.

The overall experience was awesome. one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed in. I met the owner, and he was as friendly as his staff. I actually wished I could stay a few more days just to relax. Love the idea of Trust Bar, wonderful to see we can still have places like that.

Cons:

The breakfast is the only thing of my whole experience that I would say was a bit of a letdown. The first morning my food was cold and DRY. I left most of it. The rest was not wonderful, but good.
