everything was great
notably though the breakfast was incredible

Cons:

there was an odd and fairly gross smell that came up at certain times in our room, mostly when the aircon was off. Don’t know what it was but that’s the only reason why it’s not a 10 out of 10.

This hotel is for those who value authenticity, exotic charm, and the true atmosphere of Naples above all else.

The gates close after lunch, leaving only a small doorway through which you enter the courtyard of this historic palazzo. The vintage elevator travels up and down only if you insert a coin—something the hotel thoughtfully provides each guest with in a little pouch.

The palazzo itself is steeped in history: it was once the residence of the renowned 16th-century Neapolitan scientist, philosopher, and polymath Giambattista Della Porta. The breakfast room ceiling, the doors, and the wooden shutters have all been lovingly restored, and their beauty is no less captivating than the architectural treasures of Naples itself.

Breakfast is another highlight. A wonderful selection of local pastries, coffee that tastes like an Italian dream, and carefully prepared dishes invite you to savour the authentic flavours of Italy rather than simply piling your plate with endless buffet options.

The palazzo is located in the very heart of historic Naples, surrounded by monuments that capture your imagination and make it difficult to leave this city of lemons, stone pines, and oleanders.

I will definitely return—not only to Naples, but also to Relais Della Porta. Next time, I hope to book one of the rooms with the breathtaking painted ceilings for my family, which unfortunately wasn’t available during this visit.

Cons:

One small suggestion for improvement would be to refresh the paint in some of the corridors, bathrooms, and guest rooms.
