Theodora Golf Club

The golf course was beautiful, the starter was excellent, and the rooms and building were fabulous. No complaints at all about the facilities — they are truly first class.

Unfortunately, our experience was ruined by the poor attitude of the staff in the restaurant, and in particular, the receptionist (Narcissa). At checkout, she belittled us when we asked for a company receipt and even accused us of lying about owning a Canadian company. Our company is fully registered and provides support to cancer patients worldwide. Instead of handling the request professionally, she delayed for over 30 minutes to produce a simple hotel receipt, despite having our passports on file since check-in. Her behavior was hostile, unprofessional, and completely out of place in an establishment of this caliber.
As a Romanian, I was ashamed by the impression this created for my family and horrified that guests could be treated this way. We had been planning to return with friends to enjoy the golf, but after this experience, we are reconsidering. Management should urgently address this issue if they want to maintain the reputation of what is otherwise a wonderful property

A lovely resort, beautiful villas, nice rooms, loved the flowers, but not 4 *. Maybe 3* superior.
It's a shame they don't provide more features for the ones that accompagny the golfers: an indoor pool, indoor playground for children.
We were unfortunate to have a change in the weather and it was raining all day, even thou the forecast was for 30 C. We were bored and we had to go and spend time and money in the city.

Unprofessional staff and manager, badly organized for such a nice place. What they advertise it s different than what you receive and the customer service is zero. The place is really nice and the rooms are great and it’s a shame that the hospitality is missing.

As this is the only 18 hole course in this region of the country, I did not know what to expect. I has thoroughly exceeded my expectations. The accommodations are very nice and clean. The included breakfast is cooked to order and it was delicious. The pool is also wonderful and they offer bar service until 5pm every day.

The best part of the stay was the golf. We were not able to bring our own set, so we rented. It was a good set, not the latest model, but it was easy to use and it was nice to warm up on the range prior to the round. The range does not allow long clubs to be hit due to the small area, but warming up with irons is sufficient. Walking-only, but you can use a pull-cart. The course layout is fantastic and the greens have a good complex, many of them being very large. There are plenty of hazards where you can lose a stray shot, but the course plays fair. I was impressed by the condition of the course and you can tell they take pride in the course and amenities. The defense of the course is it’s rough. You’ll want to keep it out of the rough or you will pay the price.

In short, this is a quality golf resort with wonderful accommodations and amenities and the golf is good enough to come back again and again. We’ll be back for sure.

It's a new resort, modern, clean, perfect place to get some nice relaxation, while close to the city of Alba Iulia and other touristic sites.

Very good restaurant with a lot of selection, astonishing view, excellent service. Rooms are spacious, nicely decorated, with all facilities of a 5* hotel. Special thanks to Ramona, who served us and made our dinner special every evening.

My friend and I stayed here in August 2021. Nobody wore masks, only we did. The place is exceptionally clean, the rooms are very large, the pool is quite big and the staff are kind. Breakfast is only good. You are not allowed to bring anything from outside, which is kind of sad, as the mini bar offer is not very varied.

I spent two weeks in Romania and booked 2 nights at Theodora to maintain my golf game. To my dismay it turned out I was unable to use the course as they had no golf clubs to rent. When I asked why I was told they only have 1 bag and they need it for lessons. Yes, I could have brought my clubs from the UK but for one or two rounds that was hardly worth it. I also had read comments from previous guests who were able to rent clubs. Ultimately it appears TGC is not able or willing to provide exceptional customer service. I understand the place is up for sale, maybe that explains it. Hopefully future management will do a better job. As to non golf related elements: the rooms are spacious and well laid out. Coffee, tea and complimentary water are missing. The BBC channel does not work. The food at the restaurant is good, albeit uninspired, and the service is excellent. Breakfast provides an excellent range of products. I would have scored Theodora a 3 were it not for the fact that my visit was a waste. Lastly - why have a driving range when it is so short that wood and driver are forbidden?

It is a very beautiful place with a large golf area. Very good selection of wines. Do not recommend the beef, it is very expensive for its quality(i think it is romanian beef, not black angus) and they kept making it well done despite i ordered medium rare. But they were very polite and changed it. Overall a very nice experience. will be returning soon

Amazing place where Covid can't enter! No staff there is wearing a mask, only customers. And after a couple of days even the customers remove it.
Otherwise hotel is nice, food is good.
Regarding golf, it is very well maintained and grass is nice. A shame this course was not designed by a professional, because it is quite boring. But in Romania there is not much choice alas.

We were here for a work conference but i was absolutely impressed by this place. I couldn't believe that we have places like this in Romania. The staff was friendly and well prepared. The food was good. The rooms were nice and clean. You can play golf or have a swim

A most pleasant surprise; gem of a place with next to perfect everything, even took a golf class. An oasis of Swiss type resort in a beautiful location and with the warmest of people. Top everything and very reasonable pricing too.

Unfortunately, my experience at this resort was a total disappointment. And I will start by telling you about the lack of professionalism shown by almost all the employees of this hotel I came in contact with. So I booked two rooms only for one night, hoping that we will relax a little and that we will enter the pool a little, and everything was wonderful until we reached the pool and I realized that although it was 30 degrees celsius outside, the water in the pool was so cold, that my wife who was pregnant could not enter. My first advice would be that in the future, given that they have everything they need to install a water heating system, to take some action in this regard. The most unpleasant experience was in the evening when I booked a table at the restaurant where the waiter Claudiu had an excessive dose of arrogance, and after he made the wrong orders to my wife and her friend, I had to insist twice to bring my beer, taking in consideration that I have ordered it with the food and the rest of the drinks that had already arrived at the table. When I explained to Claudiu that he had the wrong order and that the girls had ordered something else, he could only say that he understood wrongly without apologizing at all.
.About the food, unfortunately, it is not very bright and, I believe it could be much tastier. The next day at breakfast, when I made a cappuccino with the help of the coffee machine, I realized that the milk was rotten.

We had a great week here, the rooms are large and clean, offering all the comfort, the food is tasty and all the personnel is friendly and helpful.

The pool and golf courses were much appreciated by the kid.

Looking forward to come back!

After many years of traveling in my own country I have reached TGC and it was the best decision.

The place as a whole looks great, like other respectable golf resorts around balkans.
The restaurant with friendly staff who enjoy having small conversation but not pusy type. Great food at reasonable prices (probably due to the geography). Good choice of domestic wines.

Accomodation in villas with 6 independent rooms, gives a sense of privacy. One comment: inside doors are too thin and you hear too much from the corridor

Brilliant Golf course, amazing! But badly let down by prices! 300 Ron for 18 holes is simply ridiculous! My friends had to rent clubs as traveled from UK, experienced golfers and were astonished by the costs, even to purchase golf tees and golf glove! Make sure you have all the kit before going as renting is ridiculously high cost on top of an already high cost to play!

Me and my fiancé went there for lunch and everything was excellent. The food was great, the service was very quick and our waiter, Ramona was very friendly.

Highly recommended and we will return for a overnight stay as well.

The resort is ideally located a few kilometers away from Alba-Iulia and is easily reachable by car. The rooms are large, elegant and spotlessly clean. The only thing that might be missing are some chairs on the deck of the rooms located on the ground floor. The resort is extremely elegant and well-kept, but while it's obviously trying to address a premium clientele, in reality about 50% of its customers are families with children, so expect some noise in the pool and restaurant area.

We stayed for two weeks at this golf resort in July 2019 and this was an experience that far exceeded our expectations. We booked our stay after meeting Alexandra from the resort at the Oslo Tourism Fair. She did an outstanding job in promoting the place. Thanks to her for excellent service before and during our stay!
The golf course is of a very good standard and provides an excellent golfing experience. The quality of the training areas is very good, the pros are nice and skilled. We had good contact with Andrè, who also helped us with some improvements in the technique.
The accommodation is in houses with six rooms in each. It is okay to get a room in a house away from the driving range, where the view is best. The rooms are large and practical, with large, comfortable beds.
The food is delicious, we usually ate both lunch and dinner in the restaurant. The waiters are service-minded, but we would especially like to highlight Ramona and Darius, they were very professional and pleasant. The majority of wines offered come naturally from Romania, and we tried several, all of which were of very good quality, both red and white.
But the very best experience at the resort we had with the reception staff. We have probably never experienced the kind of friendly and helpful staff at a reception before. They always showed interest in how we were doing, and did their best to make us feel like king and queen! All honor to Alina, who is the head of her excellent team: Iuliana, Simona, Adriana and Maria. And thanks to Vlad, the general manager, who also followed us up in an excellent way. We have rarely been so well taken care of anywhere we have traveled, and we have been around a lot....

I’d like to start off by mentioning that I was reading a previous review about the “misleading” driving range info and I think it’s ridiculous that someone would give a wonderful place like this only 3 stars, because they felt misled about paying an extra small fee for golf balls at the driving range... get a life!!!

Our experience was wonderful... Staff is VERY helpful. The entire property is very clean and well manicured! My husband wasn’t planning on golfing, but since we “stumbled” upon this gem, he did and had a wonderful experience!

Food and cocktails were great!...
My girls enjoyed riding bicycles and swimming in the pool.
Breakfast buffet was delicious
