Hotel Avalon

Al mio arrivo l’hotel era chiuso. Quando ho chiamato al numero di telefono scritto sull’insegna, mi è stato risposto che la prenotazione era stata annullata. Mi è stato detto dalla proprietaria che non collaborava più con Expedia, che non aveva più stanze e che in ogni caso non avrebbe potuto applicarmi la cifra a cui io avevo prenotato. Poi quando ho risposto che avrei fatto denuncia ai carabinieri, mi ha trovato un’altra stanza presso un altro hotel. Soggiorno da dimenticare.

I had the same unfortunate experience of Michele L and CarloParide (both reviews are available here on Tripadvisor in Italian). I arrived at this hotel on Saturday 2nd June after a long trip from overseas and the owner told me that she gave my room to someone else. Note that I booked the room at the beginning of April and to the best of my knowledge the hotel did not try to contact me. I could not find any emails or missed phone calls from the Avalon.

The owner ignored the fact that I was a woman travelling alone and booked me without my knowledge and without my consent to another hotel nearby of which she admitted she did not personally know the quality (only that it was 1 star) and that I can assure I would have never chosen to go to.

I strongly invite the owner of the Avalon to go and visit the hotels before booking her customers there.

The owner was dismissive when I complained but she basically left me without a choice.
She did not seem to care at all about my concerns. Very unprofessional, and spoiled my weekend.

Grazioso albergo ricavato in una antica casa vicino alla stazione di Porta Nuova. I proprietari molto gentili e disponibili. Posizione tranquilla.

Oh dear, what a surprise this place was...and not in a good way! This is a budget accommodation and quite frankly does not warrant the fee charged. It has absolutely no frills and did my husband let me know it! Yikes. The location great, but be warned no elevator you have 2 flights of stairs to take you to reception. This is an informal Family affair as its obvious they hire out the floor and rent out the rooms. It immediately resembled a dorm with the rooms along the outer perimeter and the doors all facing the centre void looking down to the bottom floor outdoor. There are also other families from all ethnicity living directly below and on top. They do not accept credit card only CASH. Room was clean as the bathrooms, but beds uncomfortable. Location excellent and no breakfast offered. So if you are after a no frills place then go for it !

Ok, this is budget, basic accommodation so you kinda get what you pay for. If you want lifts and feather beds you should pay a bit more (other reviewers take note!) The rooms were clean, bed was v comfortable and the staff were fantastico! Couldn't ask for more for the price paid. My three night stay was most pleasant. Would book again.

We booked three rooms and stayed for five nights. The location is central and convenient and the price very reasonable. However we were very disappointed in the room. There was hot water in the shower and wifi in the room. However the bed was uncomfortable (foam mattress), the bedding shabby (but clean) and the decor was minimal and drab. Noise from the next room could be heard clearly. The staff were pleasant and accommodating. No elevator so you have to walk up three flights of stairs and there are four locked doors (and 4 different keys) to get in and out. Most disappointing was there lack of a supplied breakfast or any common areas to meet in (the balcony is the only space). There is no laundry or any other amenities although you are welcome to use the clothes line off the balcony.

Wonderful welcome, Great stay. Comfortable rooms within great settings close to town centre of Torino. Perfect to connect to all places and great for historic sight seeing. plenty of cafes and restaurants to choose from. Hot water for shower 24/7. TV and area allocated on a beautiful balcony for smokers. Free Wi FI. Manageress on call 24/7 to make your stay as comfortable and great experience. Highly recommended.

I was surprised to see this hotel after the highish ratings it received. Wonder if I stayed in the ssame place.I passed the hotel as I could not locate it. No big sign, as it is in a private building. In fact it is an apartment with a few rooms converted for guests. The room was ok, but old and the cup in the room did not look clean to me. The room was made up the next day, but not cleaned. Next time I go somewhere else. This is the second time I decided on price in Turin. I will pay a little more next time and go to a decent place. And the WiFi? That only works around reception, not in my room.

Very good solution for friends and others too. Great location at the centre of Turin, staff hospitable, nice and comfortable accomodation. There is free wi-fi too for those, who wants to take a look at the internet. There are bars very close. I would recommend it to all!
