Categories

Cleanliness
8.2
Mostly described as very clean or spotlessly clean in several reviews, but a few guests mentioned dust and hair in the shower plug hole, so slightly reduced.
Service
9.8
Consistently praised—staff repeatedly described as friendly, welcoming, very helpful and going out of their way to accommodate guests (including late check-ins and attentive service).
Location
9.3
Charming village setting with good walks nearby and convenient free parking opposite; one recurring minor downside is church bells for some guests.
Room Quality
8.7
Beds repeatedly called comfortable and rooms described as lovely or spacious in many reviews, though some guests noted small rooms, stairs and occasional cleanliness/detail issues.
Amenities
7.9
Basic but appreciated amenities mentioned (free parking opposite, dog-friendly, pub/bar on site); limited additional facilities noted, so rated a bit lower.
Value for Money
9.1
Several reviewers said the stay was worth the price and praised quality of food and service relative to cost.
Food and Beverage
9.6
Repeatedly highlighted as excellent—steaks cooked perfectly, plentiful and fabulous breakfasts and generally exceptional dinner/breakfast experiences.
Overall Experience
9.4
Overall very positive sentiment across reviews with many glowing endorsements, repeat stays and strong recommendations; minor negatives (bells, occasional dust/small rooms) do not outweigh strengths.

Beautiful. Great staff and very clean and comfy room.
Pros:

Decor was lovely. And the bed was perfect :) I had a very long day of traveling and Lucy waited up until midnight for me to check in. A big big thank you. You made my stay perfect and we appreciate your hospitality! Lucy is of the highest standard you could possibly want. Thank you!
Breakfast was exceptional - big thank you to the chef!

Cons:

Unfortunately I was there for a very little amount time - so the only downfall is that I didn’t get to stay longer. It was a beautiful stay!

Beautiful old country pub with great breakfast.
Pros:

Beautiful old building. Friendly staff. Good dinner & breakfast. Clean. We had a spacious twin room on 2nd floor.

Cons:

We stayed in August during a heat wave & the bedroom was very hot. We couldn’t leave the window open overnight because the church bells ring every 15mins!

Lovely old inn spoilt by attitude of staff.
Pros:

Lovely period inn.
Very comfortable and well presented room.
Very quiet little village and good breakfast.

Cons:

Attitude of member of staff in restaurant when we were having dinner.
Ordered bottle of Malbec which was served very cold and was very poor. Most of the wine had not been drunk and I complained. When the member of staff tried it she pulled a face (!!) but would not exchange for another bottle, inferring that we were trying to get free wine.
I have been drinking Malbec for years and this is the first time I have had to complain in a restaurant. They did provide two new glasses of wine (equally as bad) which we left.
Poor staff attitude and customer service spoiled what would have been a pleasant overnight stay.

Pros:

What a lovely welcoming place, all the staff were friendly, the pub itself was spotlessly clean, as was the room and its facilities that we stayed in. For dinner we had the steaks on the menu, cooked perfect and breakfast had a good variety you can choose from.

Good place to stay if not bothered about bells ringing
Pros:

Nice little village with walks nearby. Character property

Cons:

Bells from nearby church ring every half hour or so night and day, which ment sleeping was interrupted despite having ear buds.

Would highly recommend! We only stayed one night as a Passover stay during travelling to Edinburgh, but would 100% stay
Pros:

It’s a lovely place to stay! Very oldie worldie with the most comfortable bed! We were running late due to traffic so I rang to inform them as it was going to be past 10pm, and the guy I spoke with was so lovely & said he would wait for us to check in! Car park is opposite & free, and breakfast was fabulous.

Cons:

Nothing it was all perfect.
