The rooms were very basic yet clean. The kitchen was equipped with enough for basic cooking and to make coffee.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
We stayed in the house for much had an amazing view of the ocean. The views from the bedroom and living room windows were breathtaking. We were right on the beach. We could see the whales and dolphins every morning. Make sure to bring your binoculars!
There are two pools but we did not swim as it was the end of September and not warm enough for us. The food was decent, staff a little slow but this is Africa and the ocean where most are very chill and laid back.
The property is very run down and needs to be renovated. We were moved 3 times before we had lights or working doors in our room. There were dead cocroaches in the bed in the first room. Airco only available at night although the was a heatwave. Shower heads super filthy. The owner was passive aggressive but the staff was amazing.
Our stay was fine… for the price we weren’t expecting much. But just know that it is very basic!! The aircon packed up, plugs didn’t work, shower head was broken, bathroom was damp and had an odour. The place was generally a little tatty and in need of some TLC. But…. Having said that…. Its more comfortable than camping and It’s right on the beach, the staff are very sweet and with limited English they try to be as helpful as possible. All the other guests were friendly and well behaved so we had an enjoyable time. Oh- be advised- you need to order meals at the restaurant at least an hour before you want to eat… but the portions are huge, and surprisingly good!!
Very convenient and accessible to beautiful beaches, good swimming pool area, the unit itself could do with alot more maintenance and aesthetic upliftment (eg, shower heads need replacing, taps are leaking, towel rails, mats, clean kettles, etc), it would definitely assist the resort to get a better rating and make the stay much more pleasant and comfortable.
Overall nice place , 50m from the beach. Youa can just stay on your poch and view the ocean. Put WiFi on the rooms
Séjour tres agréable à Paraiso do Ouro.
We were in a 2 room self catering unit. Everything was so-so. Or ok. The kitchen was a disappointment. We cooked the first night - had to request the gas be turned on. Very difficult to use the stove (hard to adjust flame, turn knobs), then even with all the knobs off we would smell gas strongly when entering the unit. My husband turned off the gas outside and we did not use it again. Unit serviced each day. Employees friendly. Beach nice. Pool looked nice. But just a bit run down. I would try somewhere else next time
Clean, decent and comfortable.....we had everything we needed. The place was close to shops and right next to the beach.
Loved it!
WARNING - this is a trick.
I booked via Hotels.com - and they money was drawn from my account. I got a confirmation email. But when I arrived at Paraiso do Ouro Resort - they told me that there was no reservation for me, and that they did NOT work with Hotels.com. - Hotels.com's help desk refere to a phone number in Irland, but this is an automated besseage saying the system is down - please call later. No email address and other ways to get in contact. - It looks like I have been tricked and lost 181 Euro. So this is a warning to others - DO NOT book at this resort via a website.
Terrible service, terrible breakfast.
The location is very nice, on the beach.
Had to cancel our trip because COVID19 cases were rising in South Africa. Hotel refused to refund. They should be more understanding in these COVID times instead of being so strict on their nonrefundable policy. These are things that travelers cannot prevent. I will visit Mozambique in the future and will NEVER give them my business again after the way they treated me this time.
On arrival the receptionist takes R500 deposit and gives you a room key. The maintenence staff help unload your vehicle. The room is supposed to be self catering and there is an induction plate with a kettle. The induction hotplate is not mentioned during the booking so we did not have the correct pots with us. We had to request a dirty braai grill from the maintenance guy. We had to ask for the unit to be cleaned 2 days into our stay. We had to ask if they can fix a light that was faulty when we booked in and the kitchen sink tap had to be repaired on request, which was held together with wire. Staff were only available on the weekend while they had group bookings and by the Monday when most of the guests left everything was locked up. We decided to leave on 25th which was a day early as a result of the lack of service. The place is in need of maintenance.
What an awesome experience right on the beach. Friendly and helpful staff.
Beautiful place accomodation needs some refurbish good area staff was helpful the road to the apartment needs urgent attention
For sure one requires a 4x4 vehicle
We had a hick-up during our five night stay. Somehow the resort did not get our booking from Orbitz. The resort did not expect us and this caused us to be moved around three times during our stay. It caused a damper on the trip for the first day as I prepaid and planned everything months in advance and I felt let down by both the resort and Orbitz. Overall we had a great experience the resort caters for all your needs and has relaxing holiday vibe and is perfectly located by the beach. The resort has a deck overlooking the beach for meals, also a bar and eating slash entertainment area. There is massage parlor and a conference area that doubles up as a church on Sundays. Unfortunately the fridge and televisions does not function in all the rooms and some of the sliding doors of the units have difficulty locking. The food prices were a bit steep compared to the rest of Mozambique but I think its due to the influx of South African tourists with a stronger currency. The staff are very helpful and went out of their way fix our booking problems. The highlight of the resort for us was the close proximity to the beach and to the dive centres and other amenities in the area!
