Jansens Bungalow Sinharaja

Beautiful location, high on a hill overlooking tea plantations and Sinharaja Forest. Our room was traditional but comfortable.
Nice to have access to a swimming pool although there were only 3 sun loungers for the 12 guests who were staying at the same time as us.

Tolles Hotel in der nähe zum Nationalpark. Sehr Natürlich in die Landschaft gebaut. Entspanntes Personal. Essen könnte ein wenig besser sein. Internet nur in der Hotellobby, ansonsten in der Gegend kein Internet / Handy Empfang! Man sollte auf jeden Fall eine Tagestour im Nationalpark mit einem Ranger machen!

Serene, lovely, not quite in the rain forest but looking out over tranquil tea and forest. Amazingly no mosquitos! Swimming hole down by the river ideal after a hike in the rain forest. Really good food, really sweet staff.

We had an amazing time staying at Jansens Bungalow while visiting Sinharaja Forest Reserve. The location is breathtaking and the house is beautifully decorated. We were served a variety of delicious food and staff were very polite and friendly.

This is a very nice place, somewhat hidden away in the buffer zone of the Sinharaja Forest reserve. Less than 10 min driving from the entrance to the park it is strategically placed for visits to the park. Comfortable but simple, it's a new place but built with good taste and with lots of respect for old traditions and it fits fine in the landscape. The food is good, staff is friendly allthough only the owners speak fluent English. There is no pool, but 2 minutes walk takes you down to the most beautiful natural pool in the river, where you can swim among the small fish and watch monkeys in the trees above….
Wifi is unfortunately very unreliable, or mostly absent...

If you're looking for quiet, secluding luxury, this is the place for you. Jansen's is set on the edge of the rainforest and away from the road. Especially at night the noise of the forest comes alive.

The road to the bungalow is quite narrow and steep but we managed in in our self-drive car and there is parking. The hotel is only a short drive from the rainforest entrance and the hotel provided us with a late breakfast after we returning from trekking.

Breakfast was excellent and included a choice of Sri Lankan style curry or western style eggs/bacon. Both were delicious.
We also eat at the hotel in the evenings as there isn't much else around. I believe there is a dinner menu but we just asked for curry and received a wide selection of dishes, with either a fish or chicken curry. The curd and honey desert was also great.

Wifi internet is provided by a mobile hot-spot and didn't really work that well. The battery died after a few minutes use and took several hours to re-charge.
