Shower badly fitted. Functional ok
Room 1 very spacious and comfortable but other guests complained about much smaller rooms for the same price
Some small details eg. stair carpet / runner quite worn, no real ale although promised each day, bathroom waste bin not always emptied
The location and the staff.
We booked a room on Booking.com that was advertised as a King of 50m2, with a fireplace, a seating area and a wardrobe. The room was a single at best, about 20 m2, with no fireplace or wardrobe and one rather tired low chair. Very disappointing.
The whole experience it was fabulous atmosphere was great staff where brilliant...and the food was amazing..the room was spotless and perfect

Though our room was likely the tiniest (we pack very light and it was a struggle to find a place for our things), we loved the hotel, the staff and the meals (we had both dinner and breakfast). They kindly found a place to store our bikes securely.
The location was perfect, staff were so friendly and nothing was too much bother. We ate there on evening and the food was delicious. Breakfast too was lovely and very filling.
Didnt know we could get free admission to Raby Castle as well as the waterfall if staying at the hotel as we would have possibly planned our visit differently.

Great location, excellent attentive, helpful staff. Lovely rooms with comfortable bed. Clean, tidy. Perfect in every way. Would definitely stay again.

I am just 5 foot tall and the bed was very high! I literally had to climb onto it and spent the night worrying about falling off !
Also passing traffic noise especially motorbikes as the room faced onto the road.
It would be better for us if dogs were kept in a separate area of the restaurant.

A lovely country hotel in a beautiful location - highly recommend a walk to the waterfall.
