The hotel is traditional and there is nothing wrong with this it certainly adds to the character e.g. uses old keys for door entry, lots of space. The location is ideal for town with many restaurants nearby
Despite the room being fully paid for online, I was not allowed to check in without providing my physical credit card details for a room deposit. I was told this was part of the hotel’s terms and conditions for any extras charged to the room, even though I did not intend to use this facility. This was particularly frustrating as chip and PIN was available, yet I still had to ring home to obtain a photograph of the card before being given access to my room.
The hotel itself feels dated. The walls are thin, the rooms are very hot, there is no air conditioning, and the window only opens slightly. Opening it is not much help, as the noise from seagulls, birds, nearby events and early morning bin collections makes sleep very difficult.
The shower also needs upgrading, as the old hot and cold mixer taps are difficult to adjust properly. The lift is very small and only fits around two people with luggage, which creates delays at busy times.
Overall, it felt expensive for what was provided. I would also recommend checking whether any local fair or event is taking place before booking, as this added considerably to the noise and is situated 3-4 metres from the hotel entrance
Excellent staff. All extremely helpful and very friendly. From reception to the bar. Thank you very much
Bedrooms a little dated
Well located. Amazing breakfast.
No hot water. Staff did not warn us that the boiler wasn’t working. It was only after we complained that we got refund. If this was working it would have been a good one night break for a wedding we were attending
Very conveniently located in the city centre, plus its lovely old atmosphere. Been coming to this place for many years and would always recommend it, especially as its been gradually refurbishing itself for the past few years.
The parking can be a bit of a lottery in finding a place. Breakfast seems a little haphazard at times eg. topping up of items, erratic collection of used plates from tables. The latter just needs a bit more staff training I think.
The breakfast was good thank you
The parking, I had to stay in the car in your car park for 11mins whilst my partner waited to talk to someone in reception to find alternative parking as not familiar with area. When we arrive home after our trip we had received a parking fine which appears to be un contestable. So not very happy.. Also we did not get told about the tap water which apparently we were supposed to run for a while before using. We found out at the end of our stay when we mentioned it to staff after we had run a bath and the water was yellow ish. By which time I had filled a kettle 3 time and I had showered already too
Great breakfast. Comfortable bed.
Shower pressure
Hotel was overall a lovely stay. Superbly situated within minutes walk of all the shops, restaurants and the theatre. Room was large enough, very warm with a large very comfortable bed which is a big tick.
Overall a lovely stay in the beautiful city of Hereford, we will return to The Green Dragon Hotel.
Decoration in our room just needed small bit of attention. Most parts of the hotel were very well decorated with nice bright quirkie colours. Didn’t distract from overall stay at all though. Will return.
Central location
No hot water, loud during thr nights, very hard / uncomfortable mattress, and one of the staff members was very rude to a friend. Another staff member also gave me the key to someone else's room accidentally.
Lovely charming hotel, great location and comfy beds
Walls are quite thin so you can hear everything going on in the corridor outside your room. Also toilet flush barely worked
Location
Very dated
Old school charm

Breakfast and the hotel location
Room will be better when the renovation is finished.
very little. the lady in the bar was very attentive and pleasant.
Very worn down rooms. view was of another building not the street or courtyard. iron burn on the carpet, bathroom very dated and near impossible to regulate the temperature of the shower. all the furniture is chipped and extremely worn. the hotel in general is very tired and in need of some care. the receptionist who checked us in clearly had no desire to be at work and didn't have a very welcoming approach to customers.
