Viaggio in giugno : Hotel in punto strategico , in via trafficata e molto vicina al centro . Essendo inverno la stanza era fredda ma dovendoci stare una sola notte non è stato un problema. Staff molto gentile e disponibile.

The internet wasn’t particularly fast and there is poor ventilation inside the room. When we arrived, the receptionist was not able to tell even a single word in English, which is quite ridiculous when working in a hotel.

I stayed at Hotel Samaña for two glorious nights, recovering from a trip of devolving spate of lodges stretching from the the capital, Santiago, along the crude shoreline of industrial ports, La Serena, Antofagasta, and into the desiccated interior in Calama and San Pedro de Atacama. When I pulled into the unkempt terminal of buses in Arica, I concluded this place was the furthest concern from the Chilean government, so austral from this border town that they may receive better treatment as a subjugate of Lima. But when I walked into the central courtyard of Hotel Samaña, my entire perception of the city changed. They let me check in three hours early and it made the world.
I worked remotely in the same courtyard, clocking the download from a highwater mark of 350 mb/s, and uploading a cool 500 mb/s. There are three networks—one per floor—plus repeaters that ferry the signal into the cafeteria. The rooms have a worse connection: something around 3-10 mb/s.
Having a private bathroom, after sharing a stall in the miner-trap of Calama, was formative. The mattress was sufficient. The nightstand with a lamp separates the 20th century from the 18th, just as the internet divide those looking into the 21st from our ancestors addicted to television broadcasts.
TV monitors are not an amenity but rather a pillar, of Chilean hotel rooms. These blackboxes of intellectual vacuity are the receipt of so much spending by owners; money lost or pacifiers for a generation of whining babies who want to see their shadow cast on the wall.
Hotel Samaña’s breakfast buffet appeals to the nutritional goals of the 1990s, and instant coffee on every table reminds the traveler, “don’t stay too long.” Not unusual for Chile, but simply an unfortunate reality for a country that understands wine, terroir, and fine dining, but abandons the joy and pleasure of the first part of the day for revolutions of the Earth.
I dined in the central market, just across the street from Samaña.
If the Internet were better in the room, and there was a small table to work at, this 3-star hotel would get a perfect score

Budget friendly, clean and peaceful accomodation near the centre. The receptionist was really helpful, kind and spoke English (which made it easier for me!). Would definitely suggest it.
